Chapter 84: Even cultured people have a headache when dealing with scoundrels (2/2)

The child had candy in his mouth, and drool was dripping onto the bed sheet. The three-year-old was still wearing open-crotch pants and urinating and defecating anywhere.
Qin Shuman shook her head. "Tiger Head, come down quickly, Grandma will take you to wash your hands."
Tiger Head wasn't familiar with Qin Shuman and refused to listen to her, so he quickly ran behind Erni to hide.
Erni reached out to protect Hu Tou.
"Mom, why are you being so harsh with the child? He's still young, what does he know? Don't scare him."
Qin Shuman was speechless. "The child is young, so he needs to be taught. If he has dirt in his hands and then puts a cookie in his mouth, his stomach will hurt."
Erni, however, did not think so. She said that in the countryside, when children had nothing to eat, they would catch earthworms to eat. She had never seen anyone get a stomachache from eating dirt.
It must be because Qin Shuman felt sorry for Hu Tou eating her cookies.
"Mom, you only have one son, Zhiwu, and one grandson, Hutou. Hutou only ate a little bit of your cookies and candy. If you don't want it, just say so. We don't necessarily want to be greedy for that little bit of food."
Grandpa doesn't love him, and Grandma doesn't care either. It's okay if the child suffers a little. Tiger Head's father didn't enjoy any happiness, so Tiger Head might as well live a miserable life too.
Qin Shuman was a cultured and respectable person. She was unwilling to say anything too harsh. In the environment she had lived in all her life, no one had ever been so shameless as to bring up such things, spit on them, and then swallow them back down to disgust people.
Erni is different; she's covered in thorns, and all her scheming is written on her face.
They don't even want to speak properly; they have to be sarcastic and veiled in their criticisms.
But Erni took advantage of her guilt towards Fang Zhiwu, because it was indeed because of her and Lao Gu that the child had suffered a lot.
Even if Erni isn't her daughter-in-law, she's still the daughter of Fang Zhiwu's savior. The family will continue to live together in the future, so she should just tolerate her and not argue with her.
If a dog bites you, are you going to bite the dog back?
Qin Shuman reassured herself that Hu Tou was Er Ni's child, and she could raise him however she wanted. She wouldn't interfere or make herself disliked.
"Let's change the child's clothes and get ready. A car will be here to pick us up soon."
After saying this, Qin Shuman turned around and went back into the house, feeling wronged.
Li, the orderlies officer, parked the car at the entrance. Qin Shuman changed her clothes and came out. She saw Erni still sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed, and Hu Tou was still wearing the same dirty clothes as before, his face covered in snot and drool, picking up biscuit crumbs from the ground and eating them.
Qin Shuman shook her head. "Zhiwu, tell your wife and son to go out. The department store will be closing soon if it gets any later."
Fang Zhiwu nodded and got up to call Erni, who had clearly heard Qin Shuman speaking but was still sitting motionless on the sofa.
"Let's go, don't wait until they close up shop."
Erni was unhappy with Qin Shuman's attitude, but she wouldn't go against spending Qin Shuman's money to buy things.
He got up, picked up the tiger head, and followed Fang Zhiwu into the car.
She doesn't like riding in this moving box. Yesterday, she got so seasick on this vehicle that she threw up twice on the way here.
If she hadn't been going to the city to buy things today, she wouldn't have wanted to sit here anymore.
After everyone was seated, Officer Li started the car.
"Section Chief Qin, shall we go pick up Comrade Lin now?"
Qin Shuman nodded, "Hanhan shouldn't be taking a nap right now, go pick her up."
After eating spicy hot pot and barbecue in the virtual space, Lin Han sat in the living room with the electric fan blowing.
She got up to open the door when she heard someone knocking.
"Aunt Qin? Why did you come over at noon?"
Qin Shuman looked distressed but couldn't express it. She really didn't want to be alone with Erni, so she thought of asking Lin Han to accompany her.
Lin Han readily agreed, "Okay, I'll go change my clothes and come right away."
