"Excuse me, ma'am, have you seen my shoes? Could you please help me find them?" Lu Zhiheng was genuinely anxious; he needed to go back and look for his shoes.

It was barely dawn, and he couldn't see the woman's face clearly at all; he only knew that she was a lady.

Not knowing whether they were friend or foe, he couldn't reveal his identity, but the shoes contained very important information that he couldn't afford to lose. He had to go back and find them.

He Yuping only realized the man was awake when he spoke. However, she didn't take off her hat, which covered half of her face. She didn't know who this man was. She didn't want to expose herself to him, so she lowered her voice and said, "Who are you? Are your shoes important? We didn't see your shoes. You need to go to the hospital for treatment. Although the bleeding has stopped, the things inside haven't been removed."

"I don't need to go to the hospital right now. I just want to get my shoes back. Could you please take me back to where they were? I'll pay for the ride." Lu Zhiheng was anxious. He didn't care how many wounds he had. He had to go back and get his shoes back. He had to give away the things inside today.

"Wolves are coming. Going back now would be suicide." He Yuping wasn't lying. They had indeed heard wolves howling, and the smell of blood was so strong that the wolves would definitely come.

Lu Zhiheng was about to say something when a little girl, about the height of three pieces of tofu, threw a pair of shoes in front of him with great disdain, clapped her hands, and walked away.

When Lu Zhiheng saw the shoes, he was pleasantly surprised and picked them up from the ground. He found that the two insoles inside were still intact, and he felt relieved.

At this moment, he no longer cared about his injuries. Looking around, he realized he didn't know where he was, so he could only turn to look at his savior.

"Hello comrade, thank you for saving my life. May I ask where I am?" After confirming that his belongings were not lost, Lu Zhiheng did not have much of an opinion about the mother and daughter tying him up, and kept thanking them.

He simply didn't know where he was, how far he was from his destination, or which direction he should go.

"This is about thirty miles outside Xuancheng. If you go another twenty miles or so from here, you'll reach Weicheng. Where do you want to go? Maybe we can take you there first." He Yuping had also found the location from the navigation on her car. If she were on her own, she would be even more confused than him.

"Can I go back to Xuancheng? Once I get there, I can give you fifty silver dollars for the journey fee, or you can give me gold if you want." Lu Zhiheng is now doing everything he can to get back to Xuancheng, as his mission destination is Xuancheng, not Weicheng.

“Yes, we can get there by lunchtime if we leave now, but I think you should take care of your wound first. Although it's stopped bleeding now, there's something inside, and I'm worried about infection.” He Yuping was still a little worried about his wound.

This man's hands are really beautiful; they perfectly match her aesthetic. Looking at those hands, she felt that she would agree to any request this man made.

He Caiwei was speechless. They had just left Xuancheng yesterday afternoon, and this man's hands were a menace, completely bewitching her mother.

Unable to change the facts, He Caiwei could only resign herself to climbing into the passenger seat to check the car's battery level and then covering the navigation screen with a cloth.

The man's eyes clearly didn't have the look of an ordinary person, and she didn't want to reveal her and her daughter's existence because of the smallest detail.

I should have taken out the gasoline-powered one instead of the electric one. The electric vehicle is silent while driving, and there's no other smell on it, which is quite suspicious, considering that most vehicles nowadays, whether private cars or buses, have a strong gasoline smell.

He Caiwei glanced at her mother with a look of utter despair. It was too late to change cars now, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and get the person back into the car.

He Yuping turned the car around and drove back the way they came. Although it was pitch black when they were driving last night, there was only one road here with no forks, so there was no need to worry about getting lost or using navigation.

To avoid delaying the delivery of those classified documents, He Yuping drove at the fastest speed she had ever seen since she started learning to drive. However, He Caiwei had previously worried that her mother might press the accelerator too hard because she wasn't very familiar with the vehicle, so she had set the electric car to its fastest speed of forty kilometers per hour.

Because the car is very light, it travels faster than those that are refueling. Lu Zhiheng looked at the scenery rushing past outside, completely bewildered. This speed is too fast, and how come there's not a sound at all? You know, modern cars are usually very noisy.

The car gave Lu Zhiheng a very strange feeling; it made no sound and smelled of gasoline. It felt light and airy, as if floating on clouds.

But he couldn't think about that now; his wounds were throbbing again. Fine beads of sweat were starting to appear on his face. Perhaps the wounds had only been treated superficially, and something inside was already causing trouble; he felt a little dizzy.

It is very likely that fever and fatigue have already appeared due to wound infection.

"Please take me to the second courtyard behind the department store on the main street of Xuancheng, after entering the alley. Thank you. As long as you take me there, the people there will pay the fare." Lu Zhiheng's voice grew softer and softer. Perhaps because he had been running around without sleep for the past few days, coupled with the worsening of his wounds, he had reached his limit.

After confirming that the mother and daughter would not harm him, he felt he could no longer hold on and collapsed unconscious in the back seat.

Fortunately, he specified the destination, otherwise the mother and daughter would have been completely lost.

"Can we really trust someone like him with such an important task? He didn't even investigate us, yet he just trusted us enough to let us take him to his destination. What if we had bad intentions and dumped him on the roadside? He wouldn't even know where he was dumped! In this day and age, how long can someone like him live?" He Caiwei kept complaining about Lu Zhiheng's unreliability.

Honestly, if a real intelligence agent were this confused, they would have died hundreds of times over. It's fortunate this person met the mother and daughter; otherwise, they would have been wolf food with those villains in the mountains.

"Alright, sweetie, she's already injured. Let's not talk about anything else now. Why don't we go take a look? I can smell blood again. If the wound gets infected, that would be a real problem." He Yuping knew that her little girl was just complaining and didn't mean anything by it, so she let her chatter on. But now she smelled blood again, which must mean that she had been too rough and reopened the wound.

In order to prevent him from dying, we still need to have our own obedient family member treat him first.
