Zhao Weiguo's pupils contracted sharply.
The stench of wolves, mixed with the smell of blood, assaulted my face like a wall.
He could even see the barbed fangs in the beast's mouth and the sticky saliva hanging from its scarlet tongue.
I want to hide.
My body felt frozen in the snow, and my mind went blank.
It's over.
In that split second, a hand suddenly reached out from the side, grabbed his arm like an iron clamp, and pulled him backward with brute force!
"Bang!"
The deafening gunshot rang out almost right next to his ear.
The hungry wolf, which had pounced into the air, suddenly froze mid-air, let out a short, mournful howl, and crashed heavily onto the snow.
Warm blood splattered all over Zhao Weiguo's face.
"What are you staring at! Do you want to die?!"
Yu Hao's roar was like a slap in the face, pulling him back from the brink of death.
Zhao Weiguo's physical fitness was good, but he had never practiced the body-strengthening techniques taught by Yan Yu. After a series of fierce battles, his physical strength was already exhausted.
He barely managed to stand with Yu Hao's help, only then realizing that his entire back was soaked in cold sweat.
He hastily wiped the wolf blood off his face, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw Yu Hao rapidly loading gunpowder and iron shot into the homemade gun. His usually carefree hands were now incredibly steady.
“…Thanks.” He said in a hoarse voice, and immediately picked up his gun again.
"Aww—"
With a suppressed growl, another wolf silently darted out of the bushes behind Yu Hao and pounced straight at his back!
"careful!"
Zhao Weiguo's pupils contracted sharply, and without thinking, he raised his hand and fired a shot!
The bullet grazed the wolf's ear, kicking up a cloud of snowflakes on the ground.
The wolf was startled and its attack slowed down.
In that instant, Yu Hao reacted, and without turning his head, he rolled sharply to the side!
"Sizzle—"
The wolf's claws slashed across his back, tearing a large hole in his thick cotton-padded coat to reveal the dusty cotton wadding inside.
Yu Hao flipped over, swung the butt of his gun, and smashed it hard on the wolf's head!
Taking advantage of its pain and retreat, Yu Hao flicked the muzzle of his gun and pulled the trigger without thinking.
"Bang!"
The scorching iron shot punched a bloody hole right into the wolf's eye.
"Damn it!" Yu Hao spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, and immediately pressed his back tightly against Zhao Weiguo.
The two men were panting like broken bellows, their eyes fixed on the eerie green lights in the woods.
"You owe me a life!" Zhao Weiguo's voice was deep, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
"You owe me one too!" Yu Hao retorted without backing down. "We're even now!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than a muffled thud was heard not far away, followed by Chen Weidong's piercing scream.
"Ah—! Help, help me!!"
Not far from them, Chen Weidong was scrambling backward, looking utterly disheveled. In front of him, a wild boar was charging towards him, its two tusks gleaming menacingly.
Without a second thought, Yu Hao fired his gun as he charged toward that direction!
"Yu Hao, you fucking asking for it!" Zhao Weiguo couldn't catch him.
As Yu Hao ran, he pulled ammunition from his pocket and deftly stuffed it into the gun, yelling at the top of his lungs, "Hey! You big oaf! Look here!"
As expected, the wild boar was attracted to him. Its huge head slowly turned around, and its pair of crimson eyes locked onto Yu Hao.
"Bang!"
Yu Hao raised his hand and fired a shot.
The bullets hit the wild boar's thick hide like a tickle, sending up a few sparks.
This really enraged the big guy!
