The atmosphere in the room instantly turned so cold that ice crystals could fall from it.
Zhao Weiguo and Duan Zhou finally finished their ginger tea and felt warmer. Zhao Weiguo, being perceptive, quickly stood up and said, "Yan Zhiqing, sister-in-law, we'll head back now and won't disturb you any longer."
Duan Zhou also stood up.
"Wait a minute." Yan Yu finally spoke, his voice cold and hard, "Duan Zhiqing, take Yu Siyuan back to the educated youth settlement and have him stay with you for one night."
"Ah? Okay, okay!" Duan Zhou nodded quickly.
Upon hearing this, Yu Hao panicked: "Brother, he's my..."
"I know."
Yan Yu coldly interrupted him, his two words choking Yu Hao so much that he couldn't finish his sentence.
Seeing Yan Yu's face, Zhao Weiguo and Duan Zhou dared not linger any longer. They quickly pulled the still bewildered Yu Siyuan along, bid farewell to Ruan Tang and Yan Yu, and practically fled out of the courtyard.
Zhao Weiguo also thoughtfully closed the courtyard gate for them from the outside.
The room fell silent instantly.
Only Yan Yu, Ruan Tang, and Yu Hao, whose smile was more like a grimace, remained.
As soon as they left, Yu Hao immediately put on a fawning smile and sidled up to Yan Yu: "Brother, you're being too stingy! That's my cousin. You're treating me to dinner, so why don't you bring him along? He's never suffered any hardship growing up..."
Yan Yu was bending down to help Ruan Tang clear the empty bowls off the table when he heard this, and frowned without looking up.
"When did I say I was going to invite you to dinner?"
Yu Hao's smile froze.
He stared in shock, his voice trembling, "Why?! I came all the way from Beijing to seek refuge with you, and you won't even provide me with a meal?!"
In his desperation, he spoke without thinking, pointing at Yan Yu and then turning to Ruan Tang, trying to seek an ally.
"If you do that, your sister-in-law will say you're stingy!"
Before he finished speaking, Yan Yu had already stood up straight with the bowl in his hand, his cold gaze sweeping over them.
"Won't."
Sitting to the side, Ruan Tang looked up, smiled sweetly and obediently at Yu Hao, her eyes crinkling.
"No, it won't."
Yu Hao stared wide-eyed at this person, then at that person, and pouted, saying, "Brother, what's wrong with you? It's me, Haozi."
Yan Yu looked at him coldly, thinking to himself, "You're not even as clever as my treasure-hunting rat. Haozi? You don't deserve to be called Haozi."
He didn't want to waste any more time with this fool; his time belonged to his little girl.
“Yu Hao,” he asked coldly, “who gave you permission to send Yu Siyuan to the countryside?”
Yu Hao looked puzzled, but replied without thinking, "His grandfather was going to take him to Hong Kong, but I was thinking that if he went to Hong Kong, I wouldn't be able to see him anymore, so I decided to take him to the countryside so he could reunite with my aunt and her family!"
"Alright, you're responsible for the people you bring down." Yan Yu's voice was completely calm. "If anything happens to Yu Siyuan here, I hope you can take responsibility."
"Hehe, bro, you're still here!" Yu Hao chuckled, completely oblivious to the warning in his words.
Yan Yu's eyes turned completely cold.
"I won't care about you."
"Have you forgotten what I said before I left Beijing?"
Say something? What did you say? Yu Hao scratched his head, thinking hard for a long time but still couldn't figure it out. Since he couldn't think of anything, he stopped thinking about it.
He plopped down opposite Ruan Tang with a nonchalant air, "Little sister-in-law, I'm hungry, whatever..."
Before he could finish speaking, someone grabbed him by the back of his collar.
The next second, the world spun around.
With a "bang," Yu Hao was thrown out of the house by Yan Yu like a broken sack, and landed on his backside in the cold snow.
By the time he came to his senses, the courtyard gate in front of him had already been slammed shut from the inside. (This chapter has been finished. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
