A mountain breeze swept through, carrying away the last trace of chill from the cave entrance.
Yan Yu held Ruan Tang's small hand and strode down the mountain.
He walked ahead, his tall figure like a mountain, steadily clearing away all the branches that were in her way.
Neither of them spoke.
But the palms of their tightly clasped hands were burning hot.
When they reached the pool halfway up the mountain, Ruan Tang grabbed him and refused to go any further.
The sun made people feel lazy and comfortable, even to the bone.
She tilted her head up, her almond-shaped eyes gazing at Yan Yu with wide, watery eyes: "Brother, I'm hungry, shall we roast a rabbit?"
"good."
Yan Yu's answer is always just this one word.
He took out a thick straw mat from his spatial storage and laid it out, then magically unscrewed a bottle of chilled juice and stuffed it into her hand.
"Sit and wait, it will be ready soon."
Ruan Tang sat down obediently, swinging her little legs, watching Yan Yu busy himself by the pool.
He was incredibly quick and efficient; in no time at all, he skinned and cleaned the several fat rabbits, leaving them spotless.
After dealing with the rabbit, he took out two tough guys from his spatial storage.
It was fiery red all over, covered in thorns, and had eight long legs that stretched out domineeringly, making it look fierce.
It's even bigger than the king crab from last time.
Ruan Tang's eyes lit up instantly, and she ran over: "Brother, what is this?"
“Emperor crab.” Yan Yu didn’t look up, his voice carrying a hint of barely perceptible boasting. “The meat is firmer and sweeter than that of king crab.”
Ruan Tang swallowed hard as she listened.
What treasures were hidden in the cave? This giant crab had long since pushed them to the ends of the earth.
The fire was quickly lit.
The shaved branches, skewered with rabbit legs and crab bodies, were then placed on top.
The flames licked the meat, and the aroma of the meat was incredibly strong, mixed with a sweet and fresh scent that went straight into one's nose.
"Sizzle—"
The golden oil dripping into the fire created a sound more captivating than any music.
Yan Yu had just torn off a golden-brown, juicy rabbit leg when Ruan Tang eagerly stretched out her little paw.
"Be careful, it's hot."
She didn't care anymore, pinched the bone tip, blew on it twice, and then let out a big "ah-woo" sound.
"Crack!"
The crispy outer layer cracks open, and the scalding hot meat juices burst open in your mouth with a "whoosh".
The rabbit meat was tender and succulent, and the spices had permeated it completely.
Ruan Tang gasped for breath from the heat, but couldn't bear to spit it out. Her almond-shaped eyes narrowed into two little crescent moons with happiness.
She was engrossed in her work, her cheeks bulging, when suddenly a very faint rustling sound came from the grass behind her.
The sound was very faint; if it weren't for the quietness of the mountains, it would have been inaudible.
Before Ruan Tang could react, Yan Yu put down the crab leg he was holding the moment the voice rang out.
He stood up silently and stepped in front of Ruan Tang, protecting her completely.
An invisible spiritual force swept across the patch of grass like a knife.
Ruan Tang also curiously poked her little head out.
The grass rustled, and a fluffy orange head peeked out.
It's a little tiger.
It looked to be only two months old, not much bigger than a big fat cat, with orange-gold fur and black stripes.
On its round head, a pair of clear yet innocent amber eyes stared intently at the rabbit leg in Ruan Tang's hand, then glanced at her.
Ruan Tang's gaze, however, fell on its right foreleg.
There was a dark red bloodstain there, the fur was stuck together in a clump, limp and drooping, making it difficult to take a step.
Yan Yu withdrew his spiritual power, turned to look at her, and said in a very low voice, "Tangtang, its leg is broken."
Ruan Tang stood up and walked towards the little tiger.
