“Okay,” Lu Linchuan grasped Su Wantang’s hand, “Then Mom and Dad, we’re leaving.”

"Go quickly," said Mother Lu, looking at them with loving eyes.

After Lu Linchuan took the ID photos of the two of them, he had Su Wantang sit on the back of the bicycle. He held Su Wantang's slender waist and helped her sit on the back seat.

"Wantang, hold me tight." The man took a long stride and straddled the bicycle.

"Mmm." Su Wantang wrapped her slender white arms around the man's strong waist, holding him tightly.

"Hold on tight," Lu Linchuan said gently.

"Okay, sure."

And so, Lu Linchuan rode his bicycle, carrying Su Wantang, toward the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Mr. and Mrs. Lu watched the newlyweds leave, their faces full of smiles.

"These two are such a perfect match," Mrs. Lu said with a light laugh.

"Yes, seeing the two of them reminds me of when we were young," Mr. Lu said with emotion. "It's so good to be young."

“We’re not that old yet,” Mrs. Lu said with a smile. She took Mr. Lu’s arm and walked into the house. “I feel so much more energetic after drinking my daughter-in-law’s water! My spirits are much better!”

“Me too! I feel refreshed now.” Mr. Lu also said, “I used to feel groggy when I woke up in the morning, but now I’m clear-headed and my mind is sharp. I’m not tired at all.”

"People are probably in high spirits when they have something good to do," Mrs. Lu said with a smile.

The couple didn't think much of it.

...

On a hot summer day, warm golden sunlight shines on the sycamore trees, casting dappled golden shadows.

Lu Linchuan rode his bicycle with Su Wantang on the back, weaving through the city streets.

The two are strikingly different in size, one tall and muscular, the other petite and beautiful, creating a visually impactful contrast.

Many passersby looked over in this direction.

"That man is so handsome..."

"Who says otherwise? The woman on the back of his bicycle is really beautiful, even prettier than the stars on TV!"

"Yes, those two are a perfect match!"

The people were whispering among themselves.

Before long, Lu Linchuan arrived at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau on his bicycle.

Inside the Civil Affairs Bureau, a middle-aged female cadre wearing glasses received them.

Next is the process of obtaining a marriage certificate.

Submit a letter of introduction, fill out a form, and affix your fingerprint.

"Name?"

"Lu Linchuan".

"Su Wantang".

"Voluntary marriage?"

"Voluntary." The two said in unison, looked at each other, and smiled.

The female staff member pushed up her glasses, looked at them, and then at the letter of introduction. So it was a military marriage.

The staff looked at them with admiration. She smiled and pointed to a spot in the corner with a white cloth as a backdrop, "Go take your photos over there."

"Okay, thank you." Su Wantang smiled politely.

The two walked hand in hand to the photo area.

The photographer was a thin old man, whose eyes lit up when he saw the two of them.

He'd been taking photos for most of his life, but this was the first time he'd ever seen such a handsome and beautiful young couple.

These two standing together are even more attractive than TV stars!

They're such a perfect match!

The old man fiddled with the camera, saying, "Sit closer, next to him. Oh right, groom, smile, don't look so serious."

Lu Linchuan straightened his military uniform, held his head high, took a deep breath, and his palms were slightly sweaty.

He had never been this nervous when defusing bombs on the battlefield before.
