Chapter 198 Spare His Life If Necessary
"Why did you have this idea?" Jiang An neither agreed nor disagreed.
"I want to make money and become as capable as you." Jiang Ruan didn't know her mother very well before, and she kept many things from her.
But now she knows.
My mom is very good at making money.
My mother has a lot of connections.
She is someone who can live freely and unrestrainedly without needing to depend on anyone.
“The money I’m leaving you can last you a lifetime.” Jiang An didn’t want her to suffer. She gave birth to her just to bring her into this world to see it. “Even if you’re with Sui Sui, you can live a carefree life.”
This was the first time Jiang Ruan had been so stubborn about something: "But I want to."
Jiang An: "Really want to?"
Jiang Ruan nodded: "Mm!"
Jiang An looked at her with gentle eyes, and asked her with unwavering determination, "Is it because of what Huo Zhizhou said during the divorce?"
"Part of it is," Jiang Ruan said honestly, adding that she has grown a lot during this period. "But more than that, I want to become more capable. I don't want to be just a parasite who relies on my family for support."
She wasn't aware of these problems before this incident.
She has been protected by her parents since she was a child, and they give her enough money every month to spend as she pleases.
After getting married, with Huo Zhizhou by her side, she only needed to stay home and take care of Sui Sui and manage the household; she didn't need to worry about money.
But after experiencing so much, she realized that only when she has the ability and the money in her own hands can she truly live a good life without fear of external shocks and be able to deal with problems in a timely manner.
“You’ve already done a great job.” Jiang An still didn’t want her to suffer. “Mom doesn’t know how to do your dancing or original animation.”
“That will only solve the problem of food and clothing.” Jiang Ruan now knows what she wants. “I want to make money, and I want to have a calm and composed mindset when I encounter problems. Please teach me.”
"It's very tough and tiring," Jiang An said.
"I'm not afraid." Jiang Ruan is least afraid of hardship now; it only makes her feel fulfilled.
final.
Jiang An agreed.
She explained the basics of starting a business to her: "Think about your strengths and what kind of project you want to do. Once you've figured it out, write a business plan for me to see."
Jiang Ruan: "Okay."
Jiang An continued, "The start-up capital is in the card I gave you; take as much as you need."
Jiang Ruan felt a warmth in her heart: "Thank you, Mom."
"Silly child." Jiang An felt guilty towards her.
We brought her into this world to see it, but instead, she has had to endure so much during this time.
"Knock knock".
There was a knock on the door.
Jiang Ruan and Jiang An looked in the direction of the sound and saw Huo Sinian standing at the door wearing a gray, custom-made suit. His face, with its silver-rimmed glasses, was as refined and gentle as ever. He politely asked, "Is it convenient for you to come in?"
Jiang Ruan didn't know why he was here: "It's convenient."
Huo Sinian pursed his thin lips into a smile and said to the person behind him, "Come in and visit Auntie."
Jiang Ruan: "?"
who?
The thought had barely formed in his mind.
A young woman, half a head shorter than Huo Sinian, walked in next to him. She had long, flowing hair, and her fox-like eyes were gentle and graceful. The white dress she wore added to her tranquility and gentleness.
When Jiang Ruan looked at her, her gaze also happened to fall on her.
"Is this my sister-in-law?" She had heard that Huo Sinian had someone with him, but she had never seen her before.
"No," Huo Sinian denied, his voice still gentle and calm. "She's just a close friend, her name is Lin Tan."
These words were spoken.
A barely perceptible hint of self-mockery flashed across Lin Tan's eyes as he stood beside him.
Jiang Ruan saw it, and almost instantly she was certain that this was the person Huo Sinian had been hiding, never bringing out to meet anyone, and never admitting to.
"This is Aunt Jiang, Huo Er's mother-in-law," Huo Sinian introduced to Lin Tan beside him.
Lin Tan greeted her with a smile, "Hello, Aunt Jiang."
Jiang An paused when he saw her face.
This face looks like it.
Jiang Ruan nudged her arm: "Mom."
Jiang An snapped out of his reverie, his gaze sweeping briefly over the red mole on her earlobe, showing little sign of surprise: "Sit."
Afterwards, Huo Sinian and Lin Tan inquired about Jiang An's situation. Throughout the process, Lin Tan was polite, well-mannered, and spoke eloquently.
After the initial pleasantries, Huo Sinian's gaze seemed to fall on Jiang Ruan almost imperceptibly.
Jiang Ruan noticed and asked without beating around the bush, "Is something wrong?"
Lin Tan looked slightly surprised.
I didn't expect her to be so direct.
“A little,” Huo Sinian said.
“Go ahead.” Jiang Ruan knew that his purpose in coming today was not to visit her mother. Her relationship with him was not that good yet, especially given the very tense relationship between Huo Zhizhou and him.
Huo Sinian glanced at Jiang An: "Would it be convenient for us to talk in private?"
“Let’s talk here.” Jiang Ruan didn’t want to be alone with him. “There’s nothing my mother can’t hear.”
Huo Sinian: "I want to talk to you about you and Huo Er."
Jiang Ruan: "You go ahead."
Huo Sinian didn't mince words: "Are you planning to leave Jingzhou with Sui Sui and Aunt Jiang without telling Huo Er?"
Jiang Ruan suddenly looked up.
The look in his eyes was wary.
“Gu Shixi has been making a lot of moves lately, so it’s not hard for me to guess what’s going on.” Huo Sinian’s gaze fell on her. “I can help you leave without Huo Er finding out or intercepting you.”
Jiang Ruan looked at him suspiciously: "Purpose?"
Huo Sinian's narrow eyes were unfathomable: "If necessary, spare his life."
Jiang Ruan: "?"
Jiang Ruan had a vague guess in her mind: "Who?"
"Huo Zhizhou," Huo Sinian said by name this time, "my younger brother."
Jiang Ruan was utterly bewildered; she couldn't believe he would say such a thing. They had already discussed this matter frankly last time—he wasn't truly concerned about Huo Zhizhou. Why was he resorting to the same old trick now?
"There's no conspiracy or trickery involved, it's just the literal meaning." Huo Sinian could tell what she was thinking just by looking at her expression.
Jiang Ruan didn't believe it.
Huo Sinian is not the kind-hearted person he is.
Seeing the situation and recalling what Jiang Ruan had whispered in her ear when she was unconscious, Jiang An made a decisive decision: "Ruan Ruan, agree to him."
Jiang Ruan blurted out, "He's not a good person."
Huo Sinian: "..."
Lin Tan: "?"
“He is Huo Zhizhou’s brother after all, it’s normal for an older brother to care about his younger brother.” Jiang An gave her a wink, seeing through the intricacies of these wealthy families at a glance. “It’s a win-win situation, just agree.”
Huo Sinian then focused more attention on Jiang An.
Huo Er's mother-in-law was not what he had imagined.
Jiang Ruan asked, "Just spare his life?"
Huo Sinian's eyes were honest: "Yes."
Jiang Ruan glanced at her mother and then agreed, "Okay."
After the matter was settled, Huo Sinian and Lin Tan didn't stay there any longer. They exchanged a few simple pleasantries and then left.
As Lin Tan reached the door, she glanced back at Jiang Ruan, a hint of well-hidden envy in her eyes.
"Lin Tan," Huo Sinian called to her.
Lin Tan's voice rose at the end, her expression innocent: "Hmm?"
Huo Sinian's eyes were no longer honest, only a blackness that was impossible to see through: "Do you also want to leave without saying goodbye like Jiang Ruan?"
"How could that be?" Lin Tan affectionately took his arm, her smile as bright as a flower. "You are the best person to me in this world. Even if you drive me away, I will not leave."
Huo Sinian stared at her face, which was covered in lies.
She clearly loathed him and wanted to leave him, but she still said those words.
People will say anything for money.
"Good to know." He composed himself, his words carrying a hint of coldness. "If you dare to run, I'll break your legs."
