Chapter 76 Inquiring about the Man's Identity
"What should the president of the Huo Group do?" Huo Zhizhou met their gaze, not asking a question, but simply stating a fact.
Without even thinking, Mr. Huo blurted out, "No matter what you do, it won't be like what you're doing now!"
Huo Zhizhou didn't look at her again and turned to leave.
He made that phone call because he was afraid Jiang Ruan wouldn't be able to handle it. He understood them and knew that if he didn't intervene, they would definitely use various methods to force Jiang Ruan to hand over custody of the child.
But his people have no right to tell him what to do.
"Huo Zhizhou!"
"Stop right there!"
"Did you hear me when I spoke to you?!"
Huo's father's furious voice rang out behind him. Blocked from leaving by two bodyguards, he could do nothing but curse angrily.
Huo Zhizhou ignored him and trudged back to the president's office.
"You're not the only heir to the Huo family." Huo's father's voice faded into the distance, but it still lingered. "If you can't handle this CEO position, I'll let Si Nian take it!"
"You should say less." Mrs. Huo's heart sank lower and lower.
"He did such a despicable thing for a woman, and I can't even scold him?" Once Mr. Huo got angry, it was hard for him to control himself. "He represents not only himself, but also the reputation of the Huo Group!"
Mrs. Huo did not speak again.
A moment later.
The two left the Huo Group in a disheveled state.
Mr. Huo was furious. After getting into the car, he told the driver the address: "Go to Yuanyi Games."
“Zhizhou isn’t joking with us.” Huo’s mother calmed down and reminded him, “That incident back then has already alienated him from us. If you touch Jiang Ruan, I’m afraid he really won’t care about the bond between father and son.”
"Do you think I'm afraid of him?" Mr. Huo asked, trying to sound tough.
Mrs. Huo glanced sideways: "Don't forget how the Huo Group came into his hands."
Mr. Huo paused, his expression gradually becoming serious as he thought of something, until finally he fell silent.
"Let's wait a while longer." Mrs. Huo glanced at the date. "If he continues to act so casually after the two are divorced, then we'll think of other solutions."
Jiang Ruan was unaware that she had inadvertently avoided a potential problem.
That evening, after telling Sui Sui a story to put her to sleep, she took out her phone and sent a message to Aunt Xu: "Aunt Xu, are you asleep?"
The message was sent in less than two seconds.
The other party then sent a video.
"What's wrong, baby?" Xu Jiu yawned, and the words of concern came out of her mouth.
In the video, she is wearing sexy pajamas. Although she is almost fifty years old, she looks like she is in her thirties. Her peach blossom eyes are very charming and alluring when she looks at people.
Even though they had met often before, Jiang Ruan was still flirted with.
"You're still as young and beautiful as ever," Jiang Ruan praised sincerely.
"Stop." Xu Jiu placed her phone on the sink and said while doing her skincare routine, "Your 'you' makes me look ten years older."
Jiang Ruan: "..."
Xu Jiu massaged his skin: "Speak, what do you want from me?"
"Did you and my mother really grow up together in an orphanage?" Jiang Ruan asked, her eyes glued to the person in the video, not missing a single unusual movement.
Xu Jiu paused.
I never expected her to ask this again after so many years.
Jiang Ruan noticed: "No, right?"
"No, that's not right." Xu Jiu regained her composure and continued her skincare routine methodically. "Your mother and I have known each other since we were little. Director Cheng is like a mother to both of us. Didn't we take you to meet her when you were a child?"
"Besides you, does my mother have any other friends or relatives?" Jiang Ruan asked slowly.
"I don't know about that." Xu Jiu didn't speak too confidently. "Who knows if she might be seeing other dogs behind my back."
“When I went to the hospital to see my mother today, I ran into someone in the ward.” Jiang Ruan changed the details of the story so that she could better know the truth. “He said she was an old friend of my mother’s.”
Xu Jiu: "Oh."
Jiang Ruan took a screenshot from the surveillance footage, cropped it, and sent it to her: "Take a look and see if you recognize her."
Xu Jiu picked up her phone and opened Jiang Ruan's chat window as she walked towards the living room.
When she saw the person above, her eyes widened in surprise.
The phone fell to the ground with a thud.
How could that be?
How did this person find An'an?
"Aunt Xu?" Jiang Ruan didn't miss the expression on her face when she saw the photo. It was obvious that she knew her, and the relationship was probably quite complicated.
Xu Jiu picked up her phone, forcibly suppressing her emotions: "You just said you ran into him in the hospital room?"
Jiang Ruan: "Mm."
Xu Jiu pressed, "What did he say to you?"
"Is he someone your mother knew?" Jiang Ruan asked instead of answering.
In my memory, Aunt Xu was always calm and collected no matter what happened. Even when she learned that she was going to marry Huo Zhizhou, who was completely unrelated to her, she was not surprised at all. But just now, I saw her lose her composure.
"No." Xu Jiu didn't tell the truth and casually made up a connection, "More like enemies."
enemy?
Would the enemy be so patient as to stand guard at the hospital bedside for half an hour?
"What did he say to you?" Xu Jiu pressed again.
“I didn’t say anything.” Jiang Ruan stopped lying to her and told her the truth. “I was lying to you just now. I didn’t meet him. I only found out because the doctor told me.”
"Little thing, you've learned bad habits from Huo Zhizhou." Xu Jiu relaxed a little and teased.
Jiang Ruan smiled and responded casually.
She didn't tell her about the divorce, not wanting her to worry about her.
“That person isn’t a good person. Tell Huo Zhizhou not to let him in again.” Xu Jiu knew that Jiang An had been staying at a private hospital under the Huo Group. “You shouldn’t get involved with him either.”
Jiang Ruan nodded obediently: "Okay."
The two chatted about other trivial daily matters before hanging up the phone.
As if afraid that she wouldn't listen, Xu Jiu sent her a message after hanging up the phone to emphasize the matter of staying away from that man. Even though Jiang Ruan agreed, she was still a little worried.
Finally, they found a long-forgotten number and dialed it.
...
Through this incident, Jiang Ruan realized that the person had a close relationship with her mother. Although Aunt Xu said that the person was an enemy, her tone and expression when she said this clearly carried a hint of resentment.
Is this person a former family member of my mother? Or was my mother abandoned by her family and left in an orphanage, and only later reunited with her?
Although she had many questions in her mind, she did not intend to investigate further.
The past that one is unwilling to mention indicates unhappiness in the past.
Since Mom chose to hide it, it means she wants to forget it.
When she wakes up, she'll listen if she's willing to talk, and she won't press her if she's not. After all, her mother is the most important person in her world, and everyone else is unimportant.
After putting that matter aside, she started thinking about the anniversary celebration. Classical dance didn't have much of a competitive advantage at such a celebration, so she had to come up with a new one.
After a night of thinking, Jiang Ruan finalized the content and wrote a story script.
