The psychological game of side stories

"Lu Chen!"

Qin Feng forced out those two words through gritted teeth. His face was terrifyingly gloomy.

He never dreamed that his opponent, whom he thought was crippled and could only hide in a rat hole to eke out a living, would give him a resounding slap in the face in this way.

The three team members who remained behind were silently eliminated.

The camp they had carefully set up was turned into a deadly trap by the enemy.

And he, like a fool, actually sent his own team members to the enemy's slaughterhouse.

shame!

This is an unprecedented disgrace!

"Where are you! Get out here!" Qin Feng roared into the radio.

"I'm right in your heart." Lu Chen's voice, tinged with a hint of mockery, came through the earpieces of every Dragons player. "How does it feel to be betrayed by your own people?"

He used the term "one of our own".

The remaining members of Qin Feng's team instantly stirred. They looked at their teammates with suspicion and disbelief in their eyes.

The explosion just now occurred at the rear of the group. However, Lu Chen's voice rang out in all of their earpieces.

This means that Lu Chen has likely already taken control of their internal communication channels. Even more likely... there's a mole among them!

"Don't panic!" Qin Feng, a man who had experienced many big situations, quickly calmed down and shouted to his team, "This is Lu Chen's psychological warfare! Our people are all here! There's no mole!"

He knew that Lu Chen must have used the eliminated team members' radios.

"Psychological warfare?" Lu Chen chuckled. "Then were those blue smoke trails at your feet fake? Were those team members who were blown into the air an illusion?"

"Qin Feng, admit it, you've lost."

"I lost?" Qin Feng seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world. "Lu Chen, don't be too smug! You think you can beat me with these underhanded tricks? Right now, aren't you still hiding in the shadows like a rat, too afraid to show your face?"

"I'll bring some men right now and dig up your rat hole! I want to see where you can hide now!"

Qin Feng was indeed enraged. He waved his hand, ready to lead the remaining men in a forced attack on the mountain.

"Don't move."

Just then, Lu Chen's voice rang out again. This time, there was no mockery in his voice, only icy coldness.

"Qin Feng, I advise you not to make any rash moves. Otherwise, I can't guarantee that the next bullet won't hit one of your brothers in the head."

As soon as he finished speaking, a gunshot rang out from the mountaintop.

A bullet grazed the scalp of one of Qin Feng's teammates, flew past, and embedded itself deeply in the rock beneath their feet.

The team member was so frightened that he sat down on the ground with a thud, his face turning deathly pale.

Everyone froze in place, too afraid to move.

Sniper!

That terrifying sniper is still around! And he's locked onto every single one of them!

A layer of cold sweat broke out on Qin Feng's back.

He then realized that he was currently in a wide-open valley, while his opponent occupied the high ground at the top of the mountain.

They were completely exposed to the enemy's guns.

Should we attack?

That would be tantamount to suicide. The enemy only needs one sniper to take them out one by one, like targets.

"Lu Chen... what exactly do you want?" Qin Feng's voice carried a hint of helplessness for the first time.

He discovered that his pride and joy in strength and tactics were completely ineffective against Lu Chen's unconventional fighting style.

“I don’t want anything.” Lu Chen’s voice came through clearly over the radio. “I just want to play a game with you.”

"game?"

“Yes. A game about choices,” Lu Chen said slowly. “Now, you have two choices.”

"First, you take the rest of your men and leave this valley immediately. I can guarantee that I won't fire a single shot at you. You can go elsewhere and continue your assessment. We'll leave each other alone."

“Second,” Lu Chen paused, his voice turning sinister, “you can stay here and try to wear me down. But let me make this clear: my bullets don’t have eyes. And it’s getting dark soon. By nightfall, it’ll be hard to say who will be the hunter and who will be the prey in this forest.”

Qin Feng fell silent.

He knew that Lu Chen was telling the truth.

Now, the initiative has been completely in the hands of the other side.

quit?

He was unwilling to accept it! He had put in so much effort to set up this scheme, and it was about to succeed, but now he was being forced to slink away like a stray dog.

He is not convinced!

But what can I do if I don't return it?

A direct assault would be suicide. If they dragged it out, the enemy had their camp's supplies, high ground, and that elusive sniper. Meanwhile, they were exposed at the bottom of the valley, with limited supplies, low morale, and constantly on guard against sniper fire from who-knows-where.

What's even more terrifying is that after dark, in the dense forest, the horror of someone like Lu Chen will be magnified infinitely.

Qin Feng glanced at the team members beside him.

Their faces were etched with exhaustion and fear. The repeated explosions and the unpredictable sniping had completely shattered their fighting spirit.

They no longer want to fight.

“Captain…” one of the team members looked at Qin Feng in an almost pleading tone.

Qin Feng's heart sank little by little.

He knew he had no other choice.

A team without fighting spirit, no matter how strong it is, is just a rabble.

“Okay…” he squeezed out a single word through gritted teeth, “Let’s go.”

After saying that, he seemed to have all his strength drained away, and he slumped down with his head.

“A wise choice.” Lu Chen’s voice was unreadable. “Remember your promise. If you try anything funny on your way out, you’ll face the consequences.”

Qin Feng didn't speak again. He took a deep look in the direction of the mountaintop, then turned around and led his tattered troops out of the valley without looking back.

Watching their disheveled figures leave, Wang Lei could no longer contain himself and jumped out of the cave, raising his arms and shouting.

"We won! Brother Chen! We won!"

He was so excited that his face turned red, and he shouted and jumped around.

To defeat the many with the few, and the strong with the weak! And to make the arrogant Qin Feng flee in disarray! This feeling is even more exhilarating than winning first place in the entire battalion!

Lu Chen leaned against the cave entrance, looking at Qin Feng's lonely figure in the distance, but felt little joy in victory.

He knew that this victory was not only due to tactics, but more importantly, to psychological warfare.

He exploited Qin Feng's pride and also took advantage of the Dragon Team members' fear.

However, this method can only be used once.

The next time I meet Qin Feng, I will definitely not have such a good opportunity again.

"Don't be too happy yet." Lu Chen stood up and patted Wang Lei on the shoulder. "The battle isn't over yet."

He walked up to the high-powered radio, put on the headset, and began calling Chen Mo.

"Chen Mo, Sun Yi, please respond."

"Captain!" Chen Mo's voice quickly came through, tinged with surprise, "How's it going over there? We heard an explosion!"

"Qin Feng has been driven away by us. Point 2 is ours now." Lu Chen said briefly, "How's the situation on your side? Is that team that was chasing you still there?"

“They’re still here.” Chen Mo’s voice became serious again. “They’re very patient. They’re lying in wait in the woods on the other side of the river, not moving an inch. We don’t dare to make any rash moves.”

"Okay. Stay where you are and don't move. Tell me your exact location."

"What are you going to do, Captain?"

“I’ll come pick you up.” A cold glint flashed in Lu Chen’s eyes. “And while I’m at it, I’ll meet those cowardly fellows.”

Now, with ample supplies left by Qin Feng, a camp at a high vantage point, and a seriously injured teammate to care for, he could no longer lead the team on a long march.

The only solution is to bring Chen Mo and Sun Yi back to this valley.

This will be the final and most fortified stronghold for their nine groups in this assessment.

"Wang Lei, you stay here to take care of Zhang Mang and keep watch," Lu Chen began to give orders. "I'll leave the sniper rifle behind. Remember, no matter who it is, if they approach this valley, shoot them without warning."

"What about you, Brother Chen?" Wang Lei asked with some concern. "Are you going alone?"

“I’m alone, so I’m a small target and it’s easier for me to move around.” Lu Chen checked the automatic rifle and ammunition in his hand. “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely bring them back before dark.”

After saying that, he didn't hesitate any longer. He slung a backpack full of ammunition and medicine over his shoulder, took the captured personal radio, and disappeared down the mountain path.

Night fell once more.

Lu Chen, alone, like a ghost, traversed the perilous jungle.

His target was the riverbank five kilometers away where Chen Mo and the others were trapped.

He didn't know what kind of team awaited him there.

All he knew was that he had to bring back all his teammates, every single one of them.
