The black snow, like the ashes of hell, made it seem as if the city had sunk into purgatory.
Even the cursed bear spirit, who had lived for hundreds of years, had never seen black snowflakes before. They had stained the inside and outside of the fortress, turning the snow mountain into the color of ruins.
Many people believe it is purgatory magic, while others believe that there is only one person in the world who can use this kind of magic, and that is the Queen of Hell.
Almost everyone living in Hyperion is afraid of the black, except for Mien.
Mien loved and understood black so much. The dark snow was like a singing and dancing sprite. He was the only one in the world who was so uniquely blessed that no one loved or respected him. To put it simply, he only befriended the Devil Seed.
This snow fell for him.
A bear spirit running back bumped into Mien, as if it had bumped into a stiff, dead person, but it was Mien who fell down.
Despite the significant difference in height and weight, why did Mien stand there unmoved?
This is insane, a complete mess. The passerby had just stood up when he instinctively noticed that Mien's two hands had turned into tentacles, which gave him a reason to take a second look. But in the blink of an eye, the tentacles disappeared.
The place where Mien was located was the snowiest, and black snowflakes gathered quickly, rubbing his feet like dry sponges.
The scene was quite realistic, with some bizarre and even decadent elements appearing, constantly revealing the fear inherent in human nature.
The passersby were frightened. Mien was so close to those terrified eyes, and for some reason, he felt extremely satisfied!
'This is just part of the little surprise.'
'Without a doubt, you will all be afraid and regret choosing Tobas.'
The sky's brightness plummeted, carrying a typical sense of defeat and despair. More and more passersby chose to run home, but a few stinking, cage-like creatures remained, endlessly explaining that this terrifying scene didn't even qualify as an attack warning.
Tobas was one of them.
Mien suddenly wanted to torture him severely, to see the look of terror and convulsions on his face.
A burnt smell filled the air, and the darkness was more pronounced than before. A wave of heat rushed in, only to be swept away by a gust of cold wind.
Two extreme emotions are intertwined like chains, and it is futile for the element of light to overcome darkness.
Tobas saw that Mien was standing behind him, closer than he had expected. He walked over and said a few words absentmindedly.
"Why are you here too?"
Why can't I come?
"But I thought you were afraid of the dark."
Tobas was right. Mien was more than happy with it. His memories of living in Podrolott were fading away, replaced by a dark and terrifying void.
Tobas saw it, yet it seemed he didn't. Mien was merging with and permeating the snow. This feeling was all too familiar to Tobas, vaguely connected to the entire dark forces, enjoying the pleasure of torture and torment.
Suddenly, a tall, thin person walked towards them. Unlike the usual local residents, the person's clothes were not seasonal and seemed to be due to poverty. At first glance, what was most surprising was his physique. He was over two meters tall, and all the weight of his body was on his face.
Even when covered by snow, you could see a row of rough, dark shadows on his cheeks and lips, and a dangerous, suspicious look in his eyes. Without a doubt, this was a demon!
Tobas drew his snow scimitar, and his attendants were all ready to go.
Mien grinned and mumbled, "Don't be afraid, he doesn't intend to kill you yet."
Tobas was taken aback and asked, "Are you talking to me?"
Mien continued, “Remember, Tobas? When we were kids, we used to go fishing all the time and skip theology classes. You said you would take care of me for the rest of your life, just like what happened yesterday. Those are my best memories, the most beautiful ones. So, you can’t die now. You absolutely have to live to the end, to see it with your own eyes.”
"What are you talking about, Mien!"
As the two were talking, the tall, thin figure suddenly disappeared, as if he had never been there at all.
The guards ran over to investigate and returned to report that there were no footprints in the snow, indicating that the thing was floating in the air.
Tobas was feeling confused, listless, and a little timid, so he suggested that they go back and get some rest.
The snow continued until the early hours of the morning, and the next morning, a decomposing body was found in the snow.
The original nature of these corpses is no longer identifiable, and the time of death can be traced back many days. Some suspect that it was the work of demons, whose methods and means were extremely cruel.
In addition to the various unusual phenomena that had occurred in the sky, the bad news that demons had infiltrated Hyperion quickly spread, causing quite a stir among the expeditionary force.
A refugee from Podrolott contracted a strange disease, which quickly spread like a plague.
Another bear spirit from the Ice Leopard tribe deserted during a raid, killing several of his companions in the process, and then defected to the devil.
Immediately afterwards, Tobas's sneak attacks on the Eastern Silverbacks failed one after another.
I thought this was the worst news in the past six months, but even worse news followed.
The Northern King's condition deteriorated severely, and his temper also collapsed. He would often point at unseen objects and smash wine glasses, and would frequently threaten to cut off someone's head. He even developed a habit of tyranny.
Everyone said he was tempted by the devil, and even Tobas eventually said so. A rift quickly developed between the Northern King and Tobas, and they often quarreled over trivial matters, making the question of who should inherit the throne a problem.
During a pre-battle meeting, Tobas became emotional, causing the Northern King to suffer a sudden cardiac arrest. Hyperion's outdated medical skills were unable to save the king's life.
The King of the North was gone, and according to Hyperion custom, half of the people had to escort his coffin to Valhalla.
But Tobas disagreed, claiming that these were critical times and that once the demons caught them by the tail, it would be impossible to turn the tide.
More and more soldiers began to resent Tobas and developed varying degrees of psychological trauma. Even though none of them had ever seen the demon, they became increasingly convinced that the demon had come to them.
Tobas couldn't understand why, despite putting in so much effort and having reached the point of unity, they were trampled on like ants by an unseen enemy.
He quickly thought of his former comrade and suspected that something was wrong with Mien.
That day, Mien was meditating at the top of the tower.
A vast expanse of cloud, like an iceberg floating against the current in a turbulent river, could not withstand the impact of some kind of gravity for more than a few seconds before melting away, revealing a rift leading to another universe.
Although the rift was far from the ground, it was getting closer and closer. Something was moving inside. A huge, non-humanoid figure emerged from the darkness, its black tentacles as long as an adult human's arm, and its eyes glowing red.
They floated around in the sky like ghosts.
When Tobas found Mien, he seemed unrecognizable. His human appearance was gone, replaced by a chaotic, large face with a mouthful of loose, bad teeth that appeared and disappeared intermittently. Something seemed to be trying to emerge from his mouth before silently disintegrating.
The changes that occurred in Mien cannot be measured in time. Even if a long time has passed, a person cannot transform into another creature.
Having dealt with demons for so long, Tobas could tell at a glance that Mien had sold his soul to the devil. He must have made a pact with the wizard in exchange for his body and life.
But to be honest, Tobas was somewhat intimidated by Mien in this situation.
"Did you do all those things?" Tobas asked vaguely.
Mien exhaled a cloud of murky air: "Just one last step, Tobas, my friend, it was me. I'll show you what happens when you betray the King of Podrol.
Tobas drew his sword, strode forward, and slashed down at Mien's head.
