A lead eagle led the rest of the flock back to Hyperion, dropping celebratory feathers.

The combined forces of the Northern King and Xiong Ling successfully defeated two of the Hell Queen's scythe demon lieutenants, and the third lieutenant was also forced out of West Silverback. At this point, the demon legion stranded in the snow mountain had less than 20,000 men left.

In just two months, Tobas created one miraculous victory after another.

In the Moli'ai Icefield, everyone gradually came to know Tobas. He always liked to hang the severed demon horn around his neck when he went out, and he carried a snow scimitar at his waist. He loved to communicate with people of different races.

He also frequently entertained refugees from Podrolott, training them as sentries, and even conducted business with eccentric winged people, especially the fierce two-headed giants, secretly training them as intelligence agents.

More and more species are joining the fight to protect the snow-capped mountains.

However, Tobas wasn't always able to win. On one occasion, he almost lost to a goat demon lieutenant.

It is said that the guy is taller than the Great Demon, a complete freak, and has an unusually peculiar skeleton with five more ribs than a normal goat demon. He likes to use other people's heads as weapons and is a bloodthirsty devil.

“That’s why I brought the golems with me,” Tobas told the onlookers. “Dwarves know how to start a fire and repair golems. They are not only the best craftsmen, but also the best mechanics.”

"Lord Tobas! It's good to see you back! Your arm is injured?"

"It's nothing serious, just a minor scrape."

"This is bone-crushing wine; drinking it will relieve your pain."

The flames in the fireplace leaped high. Tobas pulled a dagger from his heavy full-body armor, embedded it firmly in the table, and with a forceful slash, cut a large gash in the wood.

"Next time we can only take four people. More people will attract the enemy's attention. This place is not safe for us, and it is even less safe for them. Remember, sometimes more people are not necessarily a good thing."

Tobas is talking to a group of young soldiers who have just enlisted.

The snowflakes grew denser and denser, as if determined to bury someone here.

Mien stood straight on the obelisk's observation deck, as if he had become a king, watching white rule everything. Although he tried his best to remain calm, his heart was pounding wildly in his chest.

Several guards were patrolling in the snow. The one in the lead carried a shield decorated with ice wolves, but he did not carry a sword, as if the shield was just for show. The five guards behind him followed closely behind, walking along the wide road.

Mien had lived in the capital's palace since childhood and rarely went to other cities. Hyperion was the largest city he had ever seen, and also the city he hated the most.

The city was about the size of two capitals. Snowflakes covered the city walls like a white carpet. There were no bridges, shops, towers, or statues, not even a single decent human-made building!

There are only taverns and armories here, and they are quite far apart, some even separated by an entire ice ridge. The buildings all stretch lazily in all directions, and the houses look like they were taken from elsewhere.

Mien was still observing things related to snow when he suddenly heard a servant call out to him: "Hey, it's time for dinner! It's cold outside, I won't be responsible if you freeze to death out there!"

The new servant was a tall, fat bear spirit with a flat, bitter face. His hair was buried under a bowl-shaped hood, and his animal skin clothes were dirty and filthy, patchy with brown and black, and the rest of his body was missing fur. He did not look like a servant of the king at all.

"I'm not hungry."

"Not hungry? If you're not hungry, I can leave it for the guard dogs downstairs. Those two dogs have huge appetites."

"Please call Tobas for me."

"who?"

“Tell my servant Tobas that I want to see him.”

The new servant threw a disgruntled face at Mien: "Aren't you hungry? I think you're starving! Neither of us is worthy to have Tobas come over; he's the future King of the North!"

Mien seemed to suddenly recall something, and couldn't tell who the new servant was talking about at all. One moment he was talking about him, and the next he was talking about her. Before leaving, the new servant said, "Please don't make things difficult for Lord Tobas."

Mien, on the contrary, became the one causing Tobas trouble! That was his former servant!

After leaving the obelisk, Mien encountered several dwarves with toad-like and freckled faces in the passageway. Although they only brushed past each other, Mien clearly saw what they were doing.

Each dwarf carried food in his hands: pork loin, baskets of fruits and vegetables, roasted meat with beets, plums drizzled with honey, and many strange and unusual fruits he had never seen before. Of course, the most indispensable items were pots of steaming hot wine, each pot held in an iron vessel, all shaped like animals.

These servants are all in service to Lord Tobas!

The servant at the back saw Mien and whispered to the person next to him, "Did you see that? Podrolt came with Tobas, and he carries the stench of a rich man from the mountains. It's absolutely disgusting."

"Yes, they're both from Podrolote, so why is there such a big difference?"

"Because Tobas was born in the north."

Mien followed a group of servants into the high hall.

Recently, the King of the North fell ill, his mind became somewhat confused, and his various sensory systems also malfunctioned. For example, he hadn't been able to close his eyes for two days, and he often heard other sounds in his ears. He told the doctor this himself in his hoarse voice.

Although the Northern King was ill, his face was still flushed. Tobas sat on his right, and the Ice Leopard Commander sat on his left.

As they were discussing something, suddenly, the King of the North pointed to the pale earth outside the window and shouted, "By my command, we must not lose to the devil here!"

Mien was quite frightened by the drastic change in his expression.

In an instant, a gust of cold wind swept away everything in the high hall. Lifting their eyes from the frozen ground, they saw a cool yet resolute smile.

Tobas took the opportunity to glance at Mien, as if to say that you shouldn't be sitting there at all.

These two boys, who grew up together in Podrolott, became the most distant strangers.

As Mien recalled his childhood spent in the palace, feelings of disgust and despair gradually took over. He hated him, hated them, and hated himself. It would have been better if they had died together in the capital than here!

Everyone left without waiting for him to finish his meal, but Mien couldn't wait for everyone to leave; he just wanted to befriend loneliness.

'Oh, they've all left. You're always the only one left.'

'You, as a descendant of the king, receive no royal treatment; even your servants look down on you.'

'I'm getting to know you better and better, my friend. What you want to eliminate most right now isn't the demon army.'

'What should you do? Where should you go? Come to me, and I'll tell you what to do.'

Mien's mind quickly developed various problems, as if another version of himself lived inside it. The moral net that had bound him for more than a decade suddenly broke, and he faced a transformation during his formative years. In stark contrast to Tobas, his timid nature violently shattered his dream of restoring his kingdom.

He wanted to live! To continue living timidly! He couldn't bear to see the brave! He wanted to make even the brave timid!

There is only one place in this world that truly belongs to you. If you are afraid to be brave, then spread fear and let those who look down on you see who the real king is.

Mien looked around, then left, but instead of returning to his house, he went to another obelisk.

Beside the tower stands a dead tree, not tall, but very old.

A tree hollow large enough to accommodate three people, leading all the way to the tomb, where the temperature is higher than on the ground, making it ideal for hibernation.

Every few steps forward, they would encounter something like an iron railing, with iron hoops decorated with bizarre patterns. They looked somewhat like fearsome octopus-men. Mien swore he had never seen more unique patterns than these; they were definitely ancient species.

Continuing on alone, stepping over fallen tiles, colorful cracks of ice were embedded in the rubble, and strange animals were carved on the roof ridges that were not hit by ice.

One of the animals unexpectedly spat out a huge door from its mouth. The door was covered with bricks of various colors, mainly rectangles and squares, resembling wounds on a wild beast.

"Closer, closer."

A jarring stone door appeared before them, its eerie light able to pass through it, shining through a triangular lintel before being reflected back by what was inside.

It was a mirror.

Mien was filled with fear. He looked at himself in the mirror in horror and found that the hideous ghost was also looking at him.

He understands fear better than anyone else, and knows how to spread fear better than anyone else.

Why become darkness? Because you yourself are darkness, and darkness fears the light.

'Abandon human dignity and become our king.'
