"Recently, the parliament passed the Non-Reincarnated Persons Protection Act, and more than half of the members agreed to support the construction of the Southern Continent. Mandago, who first proposed the bill, has already set off for the Southern Continent. Nevertheless, many economic advisors believe that the construction of the Southern Continent will bring a financial crisis to the Northern Continent. The lack of sound systems and laws is the most serious challenge we are currently facing."

These words scrolled across the newly built giant screen in Queensshire Square, and a very formally dressed announcer was broadcasting the next news item.

"Kemir of Faan Investment Department said at the resource conference that the proportion of magical energy in the first quarter of 2009 increased by 4.5%, most of which came from the Leviathan Ocean. Due to the large-scale drought in the south and the problem of magical imbalance, the proportion of agricultural resources will decrease significantly this year."

Billy hurried across the square, the first two news items failing to stop him.

But the third news item surprised him.

"The investigation into the three senators, Luke, Dorn, and Carolina, has entered its final stage. Luke and Dorn have repeatedly stated that if the Non-Reincarnated Person Act is not changed, the other world will definitely fall into chaos."

Billy remembered those three names; they were Blood Raven's accomplices and the opposition to Senator Mandago. But Billy felt a bit disgusted by the final scene of Carolina being led into the prison van. Had Mia's operation failed, would Mandago have been the one imprisoned?

The dragon lizard announcer then broadcast several more outrageous news items, mostly negative news about the other world: the five regions of the Northern Continent are becoming increasingly unstable; new forces are springing up like mushrooms after rain; the suffering subjects must submit to a certain force if they want to live a good life; the provisional government of Fa'an is completely powerless to govern, and many places have entered a state of anarchy.

"So, does that mean I have to rely on myself all the time?"

A passerby, after criticizing the news, rudely entered a newly opened tavern. Less than a minute later, he was kicked out for not having any money and rolled back to Beris's feet.

"What else can you do besides watch the show? Help the poor wretches out! I need a lot of money!"

It's worth noting that this guy also had a knife hidden in his clothes.

There are many people who consider themselves pitiful these days, but Billis ignored them and continued on his way.

When he got home, he saw that Lisa had locked herself in her small room, while angels were roaming freely in the living room.

Because the house was too small, and angels and demons had been sworn enemies since ancient times, they would repel each other if they got too close. In order to maintain the family relationship, Billy had no choice but to go to a real estate agency and buy a large house located in the north of Queensshire.

Billy, carrying the contract, went to Lisa's room. Thinking that the lady was still asleep, he secretly placed the contract next to her pillow, wanting to give her a surprise.

Unexpectedly, Lisa was awake, and she exhaled scorching hot breath that almost cooked Billies.

Didn't I tell you to stay away from me?

"What are you saying! I still want to hold you while I sleep!"

"You're asking for it! I don't care!"

"Ah, madam, I have good news for you." With that, Billis handed the contract to Lisa.

The contract included a detailed map, even showing forests and rivers.

"What did you buy? This is a castle!"

“I just want to buy you a bigger house, so you can live in the main building and she can live in the annex, so she won’t get sick.”

"I admire your courage, but where do you get so much money?"

“I have already signed an installment payment agreement.”

How much do you pay per month?

"Oh, I told you, don't be angry, it's two thousand."

"copper?"

Billis frowned and said, "Silver coins."

Exhausted, Lisa pulled the pillow over her face and nearly fainted.

Billy coaxed and lied from the side, saying, "We'll get good jobs soon; it's the merchants who make a living by trading who should be struggling with this!"

"What kind of job can you get? To slay a dragon or kill a demon king?"

Billis kissed Lisa on the forehead: "Great idea! Why didn't I think of that before?"

What did I say?

"Hehe, I won't tell you yet, just wait for my news!"

Billis shoved the contract onto his pillow, then grabbed his weapons and headed out.

He hailed a carriage and went straight to Dinkler Manor, where the owner, Thompson, warmly welcomed Billy, but Mia was nowhere to be seen.

Thompson said his daughter had gone on a long trip, which Billys doubted, because Thompson probably didn't know his daughter was a secret agent, and Mia might have gone on another mission.

Thompson also stated that his daughter had left a letter for Billies, which was sealed with wax, and Thompson handed it to Billies.

I thought it was something important, but when I opened the letter, there was only a blank sheet of paper inside.

Billis's plan to join the League of Heroes was instantly ruined. He said goodbye to Thompson and, wanting to save a few dollars on his way home, had no choice but to walk back.

Halfway there, I remembered that there was Mr. Richie from the intelligence department, but where could I find him?

Just as he was thinking this, the crumpled piece of white paper fell out of his pocket. Billy unfolded it again and looked at it. A ray of light shone on the paper, and a few words that were difficult to recognize were vaguely visible on it.

This is a code written with invisible ink!

Billy came to the stream and threw the white paper into the water. As the words appeared, the paper dissolved, but in the time it took for the paper to dissolve, the words were clear enough to be seen.

“Mr. Billis, by the time you read this letter, I will have already gone to the Valdan Forest to study magic. If you come to my house, it means you are interested in joining the Heroes' Alliance. In that case, go find Mr. Richie. He often goes to the Star Library. Although I don’t think he likes reading, he always appears there.”

The words disappeared along with the paper, as if they had never existed.

The Star Library is located at the border of Queenshire and Peacock Town, about fifty kilometers away.

After returning home, Billis told Lisa about his plan to join the Heroes' League. Lisa neither objected nor agreed, but said that having a stable income was better than nothing.

Early the next morning, Lisa prepared the Hell Portal and teleported Billis to the outskirts of Peacock Town, where he quickly found the Star Library.

The library is surrounded by an old castle courtyard, which is spacious and desolate. The ancient and weathered walls are covered with ivy, and tall buttercups grow in the cracks of the paving stones, which are also full of quiet wild yellow flowers.

It seems that very few people visit.

Billis carefully entered the castle, passing through room after room without roofs, and finally climbed the dusty stone stairs to the second floor. There he found a large vase filled with fresh flowers in the main hall, indicating that the library was still being maintained.

In the large room at the very front, filled with the musty smell of rows of books, two wind-up clock guards stood watch in the corridor.

Clockwork Guards are a relatively outdated security product. They were popular for a period of time two years before the Great Reboot, but were superseded by magical products. Few people like to use retro gadgets.

Looking at the books, they were all old books covered in dust and rarely read.

The old bookshelves were dull and gray, as if to tell guests not to come looking for books anymore, because they were already tired.

But Billis thought this was the perfect secret base for spies. He went up the spiral staircase to the top floor and stood on the balcony to look out, only to find that none of the houses had roofs.

Because it has no roof, the starry sky can be seen at night, hence the name "Star Library".

Is this your first time here?

A librarian wearing a straw hat wanted to entertain Billy, but fearing he might scare the guest away, he covered his entire head with a horned helmet.

But this looks even stranger, like a skinny man who hasn't eaten in nine years carrying a huge jar on his head.

And he was indeed a skinny guy.

"I'm here to read books, aren't I welcome?"

Upon hearing this, the skinny man replied mockingly, "No, no."

"What's wrong? I don't understand what you're saying?"

"Then continue reading your book."

"Hey, is this how you treat your guests?"

After the administrator left, Billy suddenly realized that what had just happened might have been a code between agents, but he didn't know what the next part of the code was, and Mia hadn't told him either.

It was soon noon, and there were not many people in the library. Around two or three o'clock, a strange lump of soft mud came in. The mud was less than an inch thick. It collapsed as soon as it stood up, as it had no bones to support it.

Billis scooped up the slime and placed it on the bookshelf, asking, "Is this your first time here?"

As if it had understood the code, the slime suddenly stood up with invisible ears, sprouted sharp tentacles from its head, and bounced off the bookshelf to the ground like a spring.

Where are you going?

The mud cannot produce a mouth, so it cannot speak, but it can write with mud on the ground.

"It's me, Richie."

"I know it's you. Only you can use these strange elemental substitutes."
