Chapter 141 I Miss You a Little

Jiang Yilai really didn't know how to treat Fu Nanxiao.
With mixed feelings, she placed the noodles on the table in front of Fu Nanxiao.
To be honest, given his aloof and noble demeanor, a bowl of plain noodles placed in front of him seemed rather out of place.
Jiang Yilai thought defiantly that if Fu Nanxiao showed even the slightest bit of disdain, she would turn around and leave, never bothering with him again!
She stole glances at Fu Nanxiao's expression, feeling inexplicably uneasy.
But he showed no sign of anything amiss, and picked up his chopsticks to eat.
He took a bite, glanced at her, nodded, and said calmly, "It tastes good."
Jiang Yilai slowly let out the breath she had been holding back, feeling much more relaxed.
The two didn't speak again. Jiang Yilai sat opposite him, watching Fu Nanxiao finish the bowl of noodles, bite by bite.
Under the light, his face was blurred by the steam.
But he was still handsome, and had gained a touch of worldliness.
It seemed that the fearsome chill emanating from him had vanished without a trace.
Jiang Yilai's heart was once again stirred with uncontrollable emotions.
The feeling of fullness in his stomach made Fu Nanxiao's brows and eyes relax slightly. He lifted his eyes and saw Jiang Yilai looking at him intently.
Their eyes met, and a chilling atmosphere enveloped them.
Jiang Yilai's face flushed.
Fu Nanxiao, however, was in a good mood. He smiled and said, "Jiang Yilai, tomorrow..."
Before he could finish speaking, his phone suddenly rang loudly in the quiet room.
The shrill ringing of the bell shattered the atmosphere between the two.
Fu Nanxiao's gaze fell on the screen, and he frowned.
Jiang Yilai saw it too.
It is Gu Nianqiang.
Fu Nanxiao glanced at her subconsciously, but still answered the phone.
Gu Nianqiang's soft, delicate voice rang out: "Nan Xiao, are you busy?"
Fu Nanxiao asked succinctly, "What is it?"
"It's nothing," Gu Nianqiang said, her voice tinged with disappointment. "It's just that... I miss you a little."
Fu Nanxiao didn't react to what he heard.
But his voice softened: "Get some rest, don't think too much."
Gu Nianqiang hummed in agreement, then, as if afraid he would hang up, she asked hesitantly and cautiously, "Nan Xiao, could you come see me?"
Fu Nanxiao didn't speak, but as he listened to the voice on the phone, he suddenly felt a moment of distraction.
He suddenly realized that he couldn't quite remember what Gu Nianqiang used to be like.
All I remember is that she was always gentle and obedient, never resisting him, and never causing him the slightest trouble.
Unlike a certain woman.
As Fu Nanxiao pondered this, his expression relaxed slightly.
Jiang Yilai saw through his subtle changes in expression.
A sense of absurdity and irony suddenly welled up in her mind.
She was so close that she could hear it clearly.
Late at night, her ex-girlfriend called her husband and said she missed him.
And what about her husband?
He was so lost in thought for so long because of just one sentence.
What, are you reminiscing?
The warmth and tenderness that had just risen in my heart have all vanished.
All that's left is a deep sense of desolation.
Receiving no reply, Gu Nianqiang's voice turned forlorn: "If it's inconvenient for you, it's okay if you don't come. Don't worry about me. The doctor came to check on me today and said I'm much better and can be discharged in a couple of days. Nan Xiao, you should be with Miss Jiang right now, right? I'm sorry, have I made things difficult for you..."
Her voice choked with emotion as she finished speaking.
Fu Nanxiao felt a pang of pity as he listened to her voice.
Her illness, in the end, was related to him.
