Chapter 105 Sending Delicious Food to My Wife (1/2)
Reading Settings
Lin Han and Qin Shuman had only been gone from Qingzhou for three days when someone became restless and itchy all over.
Before he had a wife, he would stay in the wilderness for months on missions without saying a word.
Now that I have a wife, I feel terrible even after only a few days apart.
Although I know that Lin Han is going to Kyoto, which is more prosperous than Qingzhou, I am still worried that she will not eat or stay well there.
Huo Qizheng knew that Lin Han liked seafood. He knew that the seafood in Kyoto was not as plump as that in Qingzhou, so he took advantage of his vacation to go to the seaside by himself, caught a lot of plump seafood, cleaned it at home, put it on the stove to dry over a low fire, and then hung it on the wire in the yard to dry.
After being sun-dried for a day and a night, the fresh seafood was transformed into a dried state that is more storable.
He was worried that there wouldn't be many left for Lin Han because of the large number of people in Kyoto, so he specially prepared a lot.
He happened to have a comrade in the army who needed to go to Kyoto on business, so he gave him the address and asked the comrade to take it there for him.
"Commander, there are some things sent from Qingzhou."
After receiving a call from the communications department, the orderly went to pick up the package. He initially thought it was a letter from the Qingzhou Military Region to the commander, but when he got there, he found it was a huge woven bag.
He didn't drive; he borrowed a carrying pole and carried the load to Grandpa Gu's house.
"Is the commander home? The supplies sent by the Qingzhou Military Region just arrived today."
Grandpa Gu came out of the house wearing his reading glasses.
"Sent from the Qingzhou Military Region? Open it and take a look."
The attendant responded and placed the package on the long table in the yard, unzipped it, and found it was full of individually packaged dried seafood.
There are yellow croaker, ribbonfish, shrimp, dried squid, seaweed, oysters, dried scallops, and a packet of sea salt.
"Wow, these are all good things! Did they say who sent them?"
Grandpa Gu already had a guess in his heart. For so many years, his son had been sending home nothing but tea, the only specialty products from Qingzhou. There was nothing new about it.
These seafood items were most likely sent by the eldest grandson.
The orderly said, "It's an officer from Qingzhou who came to participate in the field training. He said he's Huo Qizheng's comrade-in-arms, and Huo Qizheng asked him to bring him over."
Grandpa Gu nodded, "My eldest grandson is truly filial."
The orderly smiled and said, "Sir, you are truly blessed."
The staff helped carry a large bag of dried seafood into the house. The ones that could be eaten directly, such as shredded squid, were picked out and placed on the coffee table, while the rest that needed to be cooked were sent to the kitchen.
"Tell the chef to make braised yellow croaker with scallions for dinner tonight, and also make a soup with dried scallops."
"No problem, I'll arrange it right away."
Grandma Jiang returned with Lin Han and Qin Shuman.
Grandpa Gu looked at Lin Han and smiled, "That kid Qi Zheng sent something over. I thought to myself, it must be something Hanhan likes to eat."
He was worried you wouldn't have enough to eat, so he packed a whole bag full. It's in the kitchen; go check it out.
Upon hearing that Huo Qizheng had sent something, Lin Han ran to the kitchen. "It's seafood! He even dried it before sending it over."
It must be very troublesome, right?
Lin Han felt a warm feeling in her heart. Huo Qizheng remembered what she liked to eat, and probably spent all his rare vacation time at the beach catching those things for her.
This man is really... kind of touching.
Grandma Jiang and Qin Shuman sat on the sofa chatting.
"This young couple has a great relationship, that's a good thing. They've been married for a while now, have you heard when they're planning to have a baby?"
Qin Shuman shook her head, "I haven't asked. Let the young couple take their own time. I won't rush them. I'll help take care of the baby after they have it. I don't want to put that much pressure on them."
