"It's okay, it's the same to eat when you get back. The important thing is to let you have a fan first."
Lin Han couldn't stop him, so she could only let him leave.
Huo Qizheng was fast on his feet. Luckily, the service station had the goods, so he paid for the ticket and rushed home without delay.
"Honey, I'm back. Come and try it out."
He unpacked the fan and installed it according to the instructions, then plugged it in.
A floor fan, about half the height of a person, started working loudly.
A cool breeze blew onto Lin Han, causing her skirt to flutter in the wind.
"Hmm, it's cool."
Huo Qizheng went into the bedroom and brought out two small notebooks, which he then handed to Lin Han.
"Honey, I was going to give you these yesterday, but I was so busy I forgot."
This is my pay stub and bankbook; all my savings over the years are in here.
Now I'm entrusting it to you for safekeeping; you can buy whatever you want directly.
When it's time to get paid, just take my paybook to the finance department to withdraw your salary.
From now on, I'm entrusting everything I own to you.
Lin Han looked at the bankbook and was startled by the number on it. "So much money?"
It seems that Huo Qizheng must have taken on quite a few life-threatening missions in the past; he certainly couldn't have saved that much money on his salary alone.
The more dangerous the mission, the higher the allowance.
"Huo Qizheng, can you please stop going on missions that could cost you your life?"
I'm scared.
Huo Qizheng used to be a man of few words, indifferent to the day he would dedicate his life to the country and the people.
But now he has a wife, a delicate young girl who is weak and helpless and needs his care.
How could he bear to leave her alone?
"I'll do whatever you say."
Lin Han accepted the bankbook and pay slip.
"Huo Qizheng, I'll keep these for you. You trust me, and I certainly won't let you down."
Huo Qizheng was relieved to see that Lin Han was willing to accept the meal. He let Lin Han sit in the rocking chair and enjoy the fan while he went to the coffee table and quickly ate his meal.
"Honey, I'm off. What do you want to eat tonight? I'll buy groceries after training."
Lin Han thought for a moment, "Let's have spicy stir-fried chicken."
"Okay, I'll buy half a chicken when I get back."
After saying that, Huo Qizheng left as if he was in a hurry, leaving Lin Han alone at home with nothing to do.
Huo Qizheng scheduled a dinner for his comrades two days later, as he originally wanted to hold a wedding ceremony for Lin Han.
However, Lin Han found it troublesome and suggested changing it to a housewarming party, inviting friends over for a get-together. A wedding would be too complicated and tiring, and guests would have to give monetary gifts, which was really unnecessary.
Lin Han told Sister Wang and Sister Zhang the time for the dinner party, and they said they would come over early in the morning to help out and make sure the banquet was a success.
Qin Shuman and Gu Huaiming also prepared gifts for Lin Han and Huo Qizheng as they moved into their new home.
Gu Huaiming even dug out two bottles of his treasured Moutai from under the bed.
"Give these two bottles of Moutai to Xiao Huo so he can bring them out to drink at his child's one-month celebration."
I'll bring two more bottles of Xifeng liquor to the banquet.
Qin Shuman gave Lin Han a red envelope.
"Hanhan has a new home now, and there will be many expenses. Having money in hand will put her at ease. Let her save it herself."
