Li Fuguo placed the things on the small tea table and sat down in the chair.
"Dad, I've come to visit you and Mom, and also to deliver your wedding invitations."
Gu Huaiming, with a sullen face, told him impatiently to take the things away.
"I wouldn't dare take your things. What if you two turn around and accuse me again? I won't be able to explain myself."
Li Fuguo was a little embarrassed. He had come here with a thick skin, but he didn't expect to run into Huo Qizheng here.
He was two years older than Huo Qizheng, and they both came from rural areas. So why could Huo Qizheng become a regimental commander, while he was just a small company commander?
The vanity between men made him secretly compete with Huo Qizheng for a long time, thinking that he might never wake up in this lifetime.
He had snatched the prize from him and married the commander's daughter. It was only a matter of time before he surpassed him in the future.
But this guy was incredibly lucky; he actually escaped unscathed.
"Huo Tuan is here too. I was just about to send you a message, so I'll give it to you while I'm at it."
He took a card out of his bag and handed it to Huo Qizheng.
"You and your sister-in-law must come. Feifei treats you like an older brother, and from now on I'll call you brother too."
Huo Qizheng took the invitation and handed it to Lin Han.
"Congratulations! If my wife has time, we'll go."
Whether he goes or not depends on his wife's opinion; he can't make the decision himself.
Qin Shuman disliked Li Fuguo and wanted him to leave quickly, but when she thought of the uproar about her son back home, she couldn't help but ask him again.
"Has your son's matter been resolved? Has your wedding with Zhou Fei proceeded as scheduled?"
I don't know what Zhou Fei was thinking. Li Fuguo already has such a grown son, yet she's still willing to live with him.
I don't understand, but I can only respect it. After all, whether Zhou Fei is doing well or not is no longer her concern.
Li Fuguo no longer pretended when the matter was brought up; he admitted it directly.
"That woman just wanted to extort money from me, saying that her hometown had suffered a disaster and she couldn't afford to raise such a big son because she didn't have enough to eat."
They brought the person over, took some money, and then left.
He spoke as if it were someone else's business, with a smile on his face.
But he was the only one among everyone present who found the incident funny; the expressions on everyone else's faces showed embarrassment on his behalf.
"Alright, that's enough with the wedding invitations. I won't keep you for dinner. Take your things and head back."
Qin Shuman started to urge people to leave. She had finally managed to have a meal with her daughter and son-in-law, and Li Fuguo was just sitting there and not leaving, which annoyed everyone.
When Li Fuguo arrived, he really wanted to stay for a free meal and get to know Gu Huaiming better, since Gu was his father-in-law and he would be counting on his father-in-law to help him get promoted and make money in the future.
Who knew they didn't like him at all, and kicked him out before he even got comfortable.
"Okay, Mom and Dad, I'll be going now."
Qin Shuman felt disgusted when she heard that.
"Don't call me Mom anymore. We've broken off all ties with Zhou Fei. She's married to you now, so she's part of your family. Don't come here anymore, whether you need anything or not."
Li Fuguo was stunned. How could this be?
Zhou Fei never mentioned to him that he married her not only because she was beautiful, but more importantly because she had good parents.
Now that they've already gotten their marriage certificate, are you going to tell him that Zhou Fei has no connection with Gu Huaiming's family anymore? Wouldn't that be playing him for a fool?
He stormed out of Gu Huaiming's house and went home to settle scores with Zhou Fei.
Lin Han and Huo Qizheng had dinner at Qin Shuman's house. Huo Qizheng and Gu Huaiming were talking in the study, while Qin Shuman pulled Lin Han to sit in the yard to cool off.
"Hanhan, I really hate to see you go. I feel so empty inside knowing you're moving out to live on your own."
