Chapter 97 Funeral Shop
Reading Settings
Although Yunxi was unaware of national affairs and didn't understand these things, she could tell from the situation in this small town that the days ahead might not be very good.
After all, there were very few places to sell things; only one supply and marketing cooperative was still open. It was impossible for everyone to live a good life.
At this point, she couldn't control others; managing herself was already quite an achievement.
Unable to find the funeral parlor she wanted, Yunxi asked an old man for directions and finally found a funeral parlor with its doors half open in a maze of alleys.
They were hiding so well that if I hadn't had someone familiar with the place to guide me, they probably wouldn't have sold me anything if I had just barged in on my first visit.
There's always this feeling that selling things is done furtively, which subconsciously makes people feel uneasy.
Yunxi bought everything she needed, and even had a feeling that the shop might not be open again next time she came, so she bought extra to burn more for Xiaoyunxi's family at once. If she couldn't buy paper next time, she wouldn't blame herself.
The shop owner was overjoyed to see Yunxi buying so much paper. He wished she would buy all the paper, gold ingots, and silver ingots so they could close down.
Yunxi filled the basket to the brim, and even secretly took out two burlap sacks, filling them to the brim before leaving the shop.
When we came out, the shop owner seemed quite regretful, thinking that since we had already bought so much, why not buy the last few?
Yunxi wished she could wipe away the non-existent sweat from her forehead.
I packed more than half of it for him, but he still wants to buy the rest himself. I can't possibly use all of it!
While no one was in the alley, he quickly put everything from the sack and basket into his spatial storage, leaving only an empty basket hanging on his body.
When I don't have anything on me, I always feel safer.
Yunxi felt that this state was definitely not a whim, but a kind of telepathy, indicating that if those things were discovered, it might be bad for her.
She still trusted her intuition, so she carried her empty basket and slowly made her way to the supply and marketing cooperative.
I wandered around in crowded places, especially around the city.
Yunxi thought that since she had already come all the way to the supply and marketing cooperative, she might as well buy some things to take back with her. Although she already had some of these things, it would be good to stock up on more.
While wandering around the supply and marketing cooperative, I discovered the dried seafood that I hadn't seen on my last visit. Adhering to the principle of not letting go of anything I saw, I bought some of everything.
So I also dried some river shrimp, but they don't seem to compare with sea shrimp, at least the size is different.
I had some dried salted fish in the room, but these were sea fish, which I hadn't tried before. So I bought two more, just to try the taste of sea fish.
I also bought some dried kelp, seaweed, and even dried shellfish meat, which I put here to sell.
Yunxi bought some of everything she hadn't tried before, because she felt that it was wonderful for a person to be able to eat all sorts of good things, so whenever she saw food, she had an urge to buy it.
I not only bought these dried seafood products, but also some apples, and they were small apples at that.
Other fruits are nowhere to be seen, nor are they ever offered. If you want to buy fruit, you can only buy a few apples. Apart from that, other fruits are probably too expensive to transport and are too precious to be distributed outside; they are all consumed internally.
Fortunately, not everyone can afford to buy fruit, so there was no purchase limit. Yunxi bought ten catties directly. If buying more would have been too conspicuous, she would have liked to buy more.
I eat two jujubes a day from the ones in my online space. If I don't replenish them, I'm worried I'll run out of the only fruit I have.
After leaving the supply and marketing cooperative, Yunxi thought of the two passbooks in her space, so she simply turned a corner and headed straight for the bank.
Nowhere is as safe as your own personal space, so it's best to take it out and put it in your personal space.
If you're going to a faraway place and are worried about not being able to withdraw money from your passbook, it's safer to carry your cash with you at all times.
All the family's documents were stored in Yunxi's spatial storage when she first inspected the house. So even though the bank staff looked at her suspiciously, they still withdrew the money from the passbook for her because all the documents were complete, despite their bad mood.
Yunxi initially thought that the bank employee wanted to embezzle her money, otherwise why would he look so unwilling?
Once I had the money, that feeling of unease finally disappeared.
Yunxi was absolutely certain that she had no misperception; that person definitely had ill intentions towards her. She made a mental note of that person and left the bank immediately.
Once outside, he put the bag of money he had placed in the basket into his spatial storage.
Having finished all the necessary business in town, and with nothing else to do, I figured I should head back.
She still needs to read more books in the future. If she could get her hands on the junior high school textbooks, she would really like to preview them in advance.
After all, he had memorized almost all the books at home, and even the contents of the books he bought at the library.
Yunxi always felt that since she had such a good memory, it would be good for her to memorize more books and learn more knowledge.
With that thought in mind, I turned and headed towards the library.
Anyway, the books in the library aren't expensive, and I can afford to buy them myself. It's good to buy a few useful books and take them home to read.
Most importantly, Yunxi thought that after graduation, she would definitely need to find a job. She knew so many herbs, memorized so many prescriptions, and even had memorized the knowledge in the medical books she bought last time. She wondered if she should become a doctor or a nurse in the future.
But just thinking about going to the hospital early every morning and coming home late every night, it felt like I could see the end of that life ahead of me, and I instinctively shuddered.
This is not the life she wants. Yunxi feels that the life she wants most is to be able to take a stroll in the forest every day when she has nothing to do, and not have to get up early when she doesn't want to.
