Chapter 6 Running away

The Qu family can only slink away and find another courtyard to stay in temporarily. However, without a large sum of money, their plan to go abroad has fallen through.
Qu Weiwei was awakened by the roaring from next door. Judging from the voice, it belonged to Butler Hu. He probably opened the courtyard gate and found that the things inside were gone, so he was now roaring and kicking the door.
Qu Weiwei listened to his roar and laughed like a little fox who had stolen a good treat.
After listening for a while, she got bored and went to organize the things she had collected at the Qu residence. Now you need identification to go anywhere, otherwise people will arrest you for what they call "that".
This place hasn't been liberated yet, so they have to wait a little longer. It will be easiest to get a household registration in the early days after liberation. It's only July now, but it'll be soon. She overheard the servants talking outside, and it seems that liberation is imminent, which is why her father is in such a hurry to pack up and run away.
After seeing her mother's indenture, she finally felt relieved. With this, it would be easier to change her household registration at the government's public security bureau.
Now, Qu Weiwei finally had time to sort out the plot.
"The Flower of the Big Factory" is a sweet romance novel. It tells the story of Qu Qingqing, who meets the male lead, a recent college graduate who is parachuted into the textile factory as the director, in a small town's textile factory. They get to know each other, learn together, and develop the small textile factory into the largest factory in the area.
While reading this book, Qu Weiwei felt that Qu Qingqing was like a hypocritical, scheming woman, speaking in a tea-like manner, which made her unable to continue reading. So she gave up after reading less than half of it.
If she had known she would one day be tricked into this situation, she would definitely have read the entire book. Although she might not have gotten much useful information, it would have been good to know what would happen next. After all, the mother and daughter were just cannon fodder; they were gone as soon as they appeared, and their later appearances were only mentioned by the female lead to appease the male lead's sister.
Qu Weiwei was a little confused. Why would you need to bring up the tragic story of another child, especially one who had been dead for many years, to comfort a small child?
Qu Weiwei was afraid that He Youyou would wake up and give her some more medicine. It wasn't safe outside right now. She didn't know if Butler Hu and Fourth Madam were hiding in the shadows waiting to catch her, so she didn't dare to go out. She could only hide in the space and wait until the storm had passed before running away.
After the Qu family left in the morning, Butler Hu's elder brother and younger brother searched all the houses in the vicinity, but found nothing. He was still not giving up, after all, how could so many things have been moved in less than half an hour when he left?
Night fell. Taking advantage of the space, Qu Weiwei slipped out of the alley in the early morning when people were most tired.
The whole street was dark, and she was a little scared, but she had no choice but to run. He Youyou couldn't stay in the space forever; using too much medicine would harm her body.
Without knowing He Youyou's character, she couldn't expose her private space to He Youyou. She understood the principle that "a common man is innocent, but possessing a treasure is a crime."
Having grown up in an orphanage, she understands the good and evil of human nature better than others. Without figuring out He Youyou's true character, she would never dare to expose her personal space to her.
There was one in the wardrobe in He Youyou's room. Inside the small suitcase were two identity documents, some Yuan Shikai silver dollars, and some loose silver.
Upon opening the identity document, she discovered that the head of household was He Yuping, and that there was also a birth certificate for Qu Weiwei on the document.
In other words, with these two pieces of identification, the indenture is useless.
Qu Weiwei couldn't understand why there were two certificates. Shouldn't these things be kept by the First Madam?
She had just been thinking about how to find a place to live outside, and now that she has this address on the household registration book, she and her son will have a place to stay from now on.
However, the most urgent task now is to find a place to release He Youyou and then wake her up.
Qu Weiwei took the small leather suitcase again, put the two certificates and the money in a small bag, and then each of them packed three sets of their simplest clothes. She also put a large cloak on He Youyou. When it was almost dawn, the mother and daughter came out of the space and found a secluded place to stay.
Upon contact with the slightly cool air outside, He Youyou couldn't help but shiver, and thus slowly woke up.
When Qu Weiwei saw that she was awake, she grabbed her hand and exclaimed with feigned surprise, "Auntie, you're awake! You scared me to death, waaaah..."
"Sweetie, don't cry anymore. What's wrong? Did those kids from the eldest son's family bully you again?" He Youyou probably hadn't seen her surroundings clearly yet and thought that the two little brats from the eldest son's family had come to bully her again.
"No, Auntie, our house burned down. If I hadn't woken up and helped Fifth Auntie drag you out, we would have all burned to death inside. The whole courtyard was burned to the ground. After Auntie and the others came out of the house, they ran away on their own. I didn't dare let them see me, so I hid here. Auntie, why did you only wake up now? I'm so hungry, and everything is pitch black. I'm so scared." Qu Weiwei hadn't showered or changed her clothes since yesterday. She was wearing the same clothes, which were covered in black ash, and she looked quite convincing.
"What? The house burned down? Weiwei, are you hurt? Let your mother check you." He Youyou said, grabbing her hand and quickly checking her body for any injuries.
Qu Weiwei was stunned for a moment. When she heard that the house had burned down, didn't she care about the things in her room?
"No, I'm not hurt, but everything in the room is gone." Qu Weiwei looked at her timidly.
“It’s gone, it’s gone. Money can be earned again. Even if I don’t stay in the Qu family anymore, I can support you with my own abilities. Don’t worry, Mom won’t let you go hungry. It’s just that not having a household registration certificate is a bit of a problem. What time is it now? How long have we been out? Why didn’t you wake me up sooner? Aren’t you cold here?” He Youyou didn’t pay much attention to the fact that her things were gone from her room.
In this world, it's not easy for the mother and daughter to survive. Without household registration certificates, things will be very troublesome, and they don't have any money on them right now. If they had money, it would be easier to bribe someone to help them get it done.
While thinking about it, she didn't forget to rub her daughter's cold little hands and her red, frostbitten face.
No matter where she goes, as long as her daughter is by her side, she is able to try to live on.
"Come on, let's find a place to stay first, and then think about what to do next. I'll go see if I can get the household registration changed again." He Youyou sighed, took her daughter's little hand, and touched the two gold hairpins on her head. These two things should be worth a lot of money. Let's replace them first and get the household registration done.
Fortunately, she still had those two things on her head, otherwise she and her mother would definitely be starving. Why didn't this girl take something out before she came out? Even a little something from her dressing table could have been exchanged for a lot of money.
Sigh, it's still too small.
