Chapter 242 Extra - Little White and Big Orange's Trial (1/3)
Reading Settings
The night in the Gobi Desert is so dark it can swallow up the light.
The temperature dropped sharply, and the wind blew and pounded on my body, knocking away all the warmth from my bones.
Little White and Big Orange were huddled together in a hollow in a large rock, their two furry bodies pressed tightly together, still trembling uncontrollably.
It's so cold! Even my furry friend can't stand it.
Xiao Bai took out two hot buns from his dimensional pocket, gave one to Da Ju, and ate the other himself.
However, the spot on Little White's left front paw where it had been stung by the scorpion's tail was still numb and painful, and now it was swollen quite a bit. Fortunately, the venom had been neutralized, which was actually beneficial to it; otherwise, it would have howled a few times by now.
The bun that Little White had just eaten two bites of was now hard and cold. It longed for its little owner's soft and white bun. Sigh!
Little White looked around. There was nothing there except frozen rocks and a black creature that wanted to eat everything.
The big orange cat whimpered softly beside it, nuzzling its fluffy head against the little white cat, trying to use its meager body heat to shield it from the wind.
Suddenly, a very soft "rustling" sound came from close to the ground.
The sound was as faint as a needle, yet in the deathly silence, it pierced the eardrums painfully.
Xiao Bai's body tensed up immediately.
The pair of long, silver-tipped ears stood up with a "whoosh" and twisted in the direction from which the sound came.
Its white fur stood on end, and its pair of dark purple eyes shone frighteningly brightly in the night.
Big Orange sensed it too.
A muffled growl rolled from its throat, and its trembling body miraculously steadied itself. It arched its back, shielding the injured little white dog behind it, and bared its still-growing milk teeth.
In the darkness, a pair of bright green lights silently lit up.
Then a dark shadow emerged from the night, outlined by the moonlight, its form revealing solid muscles and strength.
A third-tier monster, the Wasteland Wolf.
It smelled blood.
It was left behind by that dead sand scorpion.
But what makes its mouth water even more is the tender and fresh smell of the young cubs carried on the wind.
This is practically a midnight snack delivered right to my door.
"Awooo—"
A long, wild wolf howl shattered the silence of the Gobi Desert.
With a powerful push from its four legs, the Steppenwolf shot forward with a whoosh, carrying a foul stench, and pounced straight at the two trembling "snacks".
Xiao Bai's body works faster than his brain!
"squeak!"
Little White suddenly darted out from behind Big Orange, its body twisting into an incredible angle in the air. Instead of dodging, it charged straight at the wolf's face, facing the gaping, foul-smelling maw!
Target—the eyes!
