Chapter 196 I am a citizen of Yan (2/2)

My hand was only halfway out when it was intercepted by a large, hot hand.
Yan Yu pursed his thin lips, his face expressionless, but the atmosphere around him noticeably lowered.
Without a word, he pulled Ruan Tang's small hand back, enveloping it in his dry, rough palm with an undeniable force, before pulling her to his side and making her sit comfortably on the warm edge of the kang (heated brick bed).
"Don't touch him."
His voice was very low.
His little girl, as pure as a flawless piece of jade, how could she casually touch such dirty things of unknown origin?
Yan Yu didn't let Ruan Tang make a move. He stepped forward himself, and his mental energy, like an invisible tide, subtly probed into An Sanchuan's body.
He had learned some rudimentary esoteric knowledge from the scriptures, and upon exploring it now, a sense of surprise arose in his heart.
An Sanchuan's body was riddled with withered meridians, depleted of qi and blood, and his internal organs seemed to have been hollowed out, leaving only a fragile empty shell.
This is not the body that someone who practices metaphysics or Yin-Yang arts should have.
This body is exhausted and nearing its end.
Yan Yu withdrew his mental energy and casually removed the immobilization talisman from An Sanchuan's body.
He suddenly regained control of his body, but An Sanchuan didn't have the strength to move at all. He slumped against the back of the chair like a lump of mud.
Instead of trying to escape as he had on the mountain, he seemed resigned to his fate, as if he had given up entirely.
He raised his empty eyes, looked at Yan Yu and Ruan Tang, and a very ugly smile appeared on his lips.
"No need to look anymore, I'm about to die."
His voice was hoarse and dry, each word sounding as if it had been scraped off a rusty piece of iron.
Ruan Tang frowned, ignoring his words, and directly asked the question that had been bothering her: "What are those things you summoned on the mountain?"
An Sanchuan's gaze fell on Ruan Tang's clean and pretty face. Seeing the pure curiosity in her eyes, he confirmed that she really knew nothing about his methods.
He then turned his gaze to Yan Yu, the man who was the one who truly terrified him.
Yan Yu didn't give him a chance to catch his breath and asked directly, "Are you an Onmyoji? From Japan?"
The three words "Sakura Country" were like a red-hot iron rod, piercing An Sanchuan's heart.
A surge of physical nausea and overwhelming hatred caused his deathly pale face to flush with a morbid red.
He tensed up completely, and a strong killing intent exploded from his broken body, locking onto Yan Yu.
"I am a citizen of Yan!"
Every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a strong smell of blood.
This sudden change startled Ruan Tang.
Yan Yu remained unfazed and continued to ask the most crucial question in his emotionless tone: "You are from Yan Country, so why do you know the Onmyoji magic of Japan?"
Upon hearing this question, the chilling killing intent emanating from An Sanchuan vanished instantly, like a water bag punctured by a needle.
He stared blankly at Yan Yu, and then he smiled.
The laughter started as a low, guttural sound, rolling out of his throat, then grew louder and louder, more and more manic.
He laughed so hard his whole body trembled, and tears streamed down his empty eyes.
That laughter contained not a trace of joy, but only endless sorrow and despair, sending chills down one's spine. (This chapter has been completed. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
