It smells so good! It smells so good!

The food my little master eats must be the most delicious in the world!

It stared longingly at Ruan Tang, making pitiful "squeak" sounds in its throat, its fluffy tail wagging ingratiatingly behind it.

Ruan Tang was amused by its dramatic antics. She picked up a small piece of lean meat, rinsed it in her own bowl of soup, and then offered it to the dog's mouth.

Little White immediately opened its little mouth, grabbed it in one bite, held it with its two front paws, and swallowed it in a few swift movements.

After finishing her meal, she licked her lips with lingering satisfaction, her big, watery eyes looking at Ruan Tang like a baby waiting to be fed.

"Brother, this pork stew is so delicious, even better than what the chefs at the state-run restaurants make!" Ruan Tang said sincerely as she fed Xiao Bai.

Yan Yu's lips curled up almost imperceptibly, and he placed another piece of soft, mushy frozen tofu on her plate.

"Eat more if you like."

"Mmm!" Ruan Tang nodded vigorously, then remembered the topic from earlier, "What exactly does An Sanchuan want? I always feel that the way he looks at people is sinister and makes me uncomfortable."

"Ignore it." Yan Yu's voice was very calm. "A snake hiding in the grass, as long as it doesn't come out to bite people, just pretend it doesn't exist."

Ruan Tang nodded thoughtfully.

She understood Yan Yu's meaning. If the enemy doesn't move, I won't move. Before knowing the other side's background and intentions, any rash action could alert them.

But... she always felt that things weren't that simple.

An Sanchuan gave her a strange feeling; it wasn't simply bad, but rather a contradictory feeling mixed with fear, pain, and repression.

As she was thinking, another piece of blood sausage fell into the bowl.

"What are you thinking about? Eat." Yan Yu's tone was commanding, but it was full of concern.

Ruan Tang immediately banished those chaotic thoughts and threw herself back into the battle with the food.

Of all things, eating is the most important!

After the meal, most of the large pot of stewed pork with pig meat ended up in Ruan Tang and Xiao Bai's stomachs.

Ruan Tang ate until her belly was round and full, then leaned back in her chair contentedly and let out a lazy burp.

Yan Yu tidied up the dishes quickly and efficiently.

Little White was also stuffed, lying on its back on the table with its round little belly exposed, its tail tip swaying idly, looking like a mouse living a perfect life.

The big orange cat from the backyard had already sneaked in after smelling the aroma. It didn't dare to go on the table, so it obediently squatted at Ruan Tang's feet, rubbing its big head against her trouser leg and making a satisfied "gurgling" sound in its throat.

Ruan Tang hadn't forgotten about it either, and had given it a lot of meat in its bowl.

After Yan Yu finished tidying up, he grabbed Xiao Bai, who was still pretending to be dead, by the scruff of the neck and said to Ruan Tang, "Go rest on the kang (heated brick bed), I'll boil some water."

Ruan Tang obediently said "Oh," hugged the big orange, and slowly moved to the warm earthen bed, her whole body going limp.

………………………………

The commotion at the educated youth settlement continued.

An Sanchuan sat alone in the darkest corner of the dormitory, holding a small bowl of fragrant pork stew.

Besides pork, there were a few slices of sauerkraut and two pieces of frozen tofu in the bowl, but it was noticeably less oily than the others.

He deliberately stood at the end of the line, waiting until everyone else had finished before asking for it.

He didn't want to have much contact with anyone.

Around them, Duan Zhou and Yu Hao were sitting together, talking animatedly, spittle flying everywhere. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
