He stared at Yu Hao, his light gray eyes losing their usual gentleness for the first time, replaced by a cold question.

"Can't you understand human language?"

Yu Hao's anger flared up at this, and he frowned, shoving Tao Yuming's hand away and yelling, "Are you fucking asking for a beating?"

"When it comes to fighting, I am indeed no match for you."

Tao Yuming was not intimidated by him. Instead, he took a step forward and spoke with unprecedented seriousness.

"But when it comes to brains, I'm better than you. Can't you calm down and think about this? Since Yan Zhiqing said he wouldn't go, he really doesn't want to go. What are you going to do by going to him now? Go and question him about why he doesn't appreciate your help?"

Yu Hao was taken aback by his words and actually calmed down a bit.

He stiffened his neck, his face full of incomprehension, grievance, and bewilderment.

"Why? Hunting is great! You get to play with guns and eat meat. It's such a wonderful thing, why wouldn't he go?"

"That's what you think is a good thing, not what he thinks." Tao Yuming's voice turned cold.

“I don’t have the strength to stop you forever. Go if you want. But I have a piece of advice for you: if you keep making decisions for him without thinking and using your ridiculous logic to hold him hostage, you will soon lose this friend.”

After saying that, Tao Yuming turned and left without looking at him again.

He felt a nameless fire burning inside him, making his chest feel suffocated.

Why?

Why are there self-righteous fools like Yu Hao in the world?

Why do some people think that as long as they put on an act of "I'm doing this for your own good," others should be grateful and treat them as close brothers?

On what grounds?

In his previous life, Tao Yuming remembered very clearly that Yan Yu, that lone wolf-like man, saved him in that cold winter when he was about to freeze to death in the mountains.

That's why he understood even more clearly how cold and aloof Yan Yu was at heart.

He doesn't need friends at all, much less a "brother" who buzzes around like a fly.

Having been given a second chance at life, he initially intended to keep his distance from Yan Yu, only repaying her life-saving grace in crucial moments. However, when he saw Yu Hao clinging to Yan Yu like an unweaned child, he realized that there was someone else by Yan Yu's side.

Yu Hao's "goodness" is a kind of self-satisfaction imposed on others.

He didn't care at all what Yan Yu really needed; he only cared about whether he could gain satisfaction and vanity from the relationship.

This isn't a friend, this is a burden.

Tao Yuming remembered clearly that after Yan Yu disappeared in his previous life, Yu Hao, who claimed to be "closer than a biological brother," never appeared again.

So, what gives him the right to enjoy Yan Yu's protection so comfortably?

Based on his thick skin and his hopelessly stupid brain?

Yu Hao ultimately ignored Tao Yuming's warning.

He stood there hesitating for a while, but then took a step and walked to Yan Yu's door.

He raised his hand and pounded on the door.

"Brother! Brother Yu! Open the door!"

"It's me, Yu Hao!"

However, this time, the courtyard was quiet, without a single sound.

It was as if his knocking on the door in the afternoon was just a figment of his imagination.

Only the howling north wind answered him, stinging his face. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
