If there weren't other people watching, he would have snapped the man's neck on the spot.
Yan Yu took a deep breath, his face expressionless, and forcefully suppressed his killing intent.
He reached out and grabbed Yu Hao by the back of his collar like he was picking up a chick, tearing him off effortlessly as if he were tearing off something dirty.
Without saying a word, he grabbed the person and walked into the snow where no one was around.
Yan Yu only let go of her hand when all that could be heard was the howling wind.
Yu Hao collapsed onto the snow.
"Have you cried enough?"
Yan Yu looked down at him, his voice devoid of any warmth.
"Speak your mind, or shut up."
He didn't have time to waste here. The little girl was waiting for him to come home so they could have mutton soup.
Yu Hao shivered from the cold, and his sobs caught in his throat.
He scrambled to his feet in the snow, sobbing as he recounted the events incoherently.
From being scolded when I met those two last night, to calling his father today, and then to how that "little uncle" turned his back on me.
He still retained a sliver of reason and didn't reveal the other person's identity.
"...He said he doesn't care anymore, and told my cousin to just stay here...Brother, what should I do? I really don't know what to do..."
As Yu Hao spoke, tears streamed down his face uncontrollably, and he exuded a sense of utter despair.
Yan Yu just stared at him coldly, without saying a word.
That look was like looking at an eyesore of trash.
Yu Hao was so stunned by what he saw that he felt numb from head to toe, and couldn't even manage a hiccup before he slowly opened his mouth.
What are you planning to do?
“I…I’ll go tell them,” Yu Hao answered instinctively. “My dad said that uncle is completely unreliable.”
Yan Yu's lips curled into a mocking smile.
Do you think they'll believe it?
Why...don't you believe me?
Yu Hao was completely dumbfounded.
That's true, why don't you believe it?
Yan Yu looked at the idiot in front of him and wondered how his brain had survived until now.
He was too lazy to say anything more and turned to leave.
"For the sake of our past relationship, I'll show you the way."
His voice was somewhat muffled by the wind.
"Call your grandpa and ask him to figure something out. He can handle the mess you've made."
Upon hearing the word "grandfather," Yu Hao was so frightened he nearly jumped out of his skin.
He scrambled after him, stumbling and crawling, but dared not touch Yan Yu. He could only keep a step's distance and wail:
"Brother! My dear brother! You can't just stand by and watch me die!"
“I called my grandpa, and he insisted on making me join the army! The army! What kind of hell is that?! Can you bear to see me suffer like that?!”
Yan Yu stopped and turned around.
Those unfathomable eyes, in the dim light, resembled two deep, icy pools.
"Don't you want to endure the hardships of military service?"
He spoke slowly and deliberately, his voice so cold it could shatter ice crystals.
"Then you'd better prepare to eat and bear the bitterness of a person's fate for a lifetime."
"Do what you think is best."
After saying that, he never looked back.
The tall figure quickly disappeared into the wind and snow.
Yu Hao was left standing there dumbfounded.
The north wind howled, whipping up the snow and lashing it hard against his face.
I cried so hard just now that my tears and snot have frozen into ice, and my cheeks are burning hot.
He dared not cry anymore.
After a long while, he hunched his shoulders and dragged his leaden legs back home.
"How heartless..."
A barely audible murmur was scattered by the wind. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
