At the same time, a gentle yet powerful spiritual force passed over her, like a dam, helping her to share the burden of that deadly impact.

It took Ruan Tang a long time to catch her breath.

She leaned against Yan Yu's hard chest, her voice still trembling with lingering fear.

“Brother… that formation isn’t static.”

"What do you mean?" Yan Yu asked in a deep voice, tightening his grip on her arms even more.

"It's alive!"

Ruan Tang raised her head, her almond-shaped eyes filled with horror.

"It's... breathing!"

She gripped Yan Yu's arm tightly.

"Afu and the others found the location of Mao'er Mountain, which is quite remote. They dug down three meters and found a black rock that looked exactly like the one we had seen before."

“But,” Ruan Tang’s voice was extremely low, as if afraid of disturbing something, “under the stone, there’s something like… a blood vessel!”

"Blood vessels?" Yan Yu's eyes sharpened.

“Yes! Dark red, like tree roots, or like veins, covering the entire mountain! Afu said that there is energy flowing in those ‘vessels’ in a very regular way, like a heart beating!”

"Moreover, they discovered that the seven points on Han Zhishan's map had nothing to do with this black rock!"

Ruan Tang's expression grew increasingly grim.

"Those seven points, like seven needles, are stuck in the acupoints of this 'living formation'! They've blocked the flow of its energy!"

"Han Zhishan's diagram is indeed incomplete. The points he marked are too far off. Now it seems that these locations are just obstructing the energy at its source. We need to find the more core points to know what this thing really is."

Yan Yu pondered for a moment, then pressed, "What is it inhaling?"

Ruan Tang closed her eyes, and her mental energy once again sank into that dark underground.

Her face paled even more, and her lips trembled.

She opened her eyes abruptly, her eyes filled with unprecedented shock.

"yes……"

Her voice trembled.

"It's 'eating'! Brother, it's eating the life force of that mountain!"

Just as Yan Yu's eyes flashed with coldness, Ruan Tang shook her head violently, forcefully shaking off the contradictory information in her mind.

“No… The scriptures say that although it feels like the creature is being devoured, the total amount of life in the mountains has not decreased.”

"The life force that was sucked away... seems to still be in the mountains, just flowing, not going out."

One said they were eating, the other said they hadn't lost anything.

This contradictory information made the atmosphere in the room feel eerie.

Yan Yu looked at the little girl in his arms, her face pale but still desperately trying to figure things out, and felt a pang of heartache.

He leaned down and pressed his forehead against hers, his burning body temperature conveying an undeniable sense of comfort.

"Don't be afraid."

His voice was deep.

"Let's go take a look."

Before he finished speaking, he had already picked the person up in his arms.

This time, there was no romance whatsoever, only ruthless decisiveness.

The scene before my eyes suddenly twisted.

Upon closer inspection, a blast of cold air, mixed with rotten leaves and damp mud, hit me.

The two were already standing in the dense forest deep in Mao'er Mountain.

The night wind was cold and eerie, howling and howling as it swept through the treetops.

Not far away, two puppets stood quietly beside a pit that was half a person deep.

Yan Yu appeared not far from them, carrying Ruan Tang in his arms. He held the little girl protectively, his deep eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

Ruan Tang peeked out from his arms, her gaze fixed on the bottom of the pit.

There, a black stone the size of a millstone lay quietly in the very center of the pit.

This black stone was exactly the same as the one they had seen before; it was completely black, only larger.

The black stone was completely devoid of light, and when a flashlight was shone on it, it did not reflect any light at all, like a black hole that could devour all light.

The surface of the stone was covered with black and red veins like earthworms, which extended into the soil of the pit wall and disappeared underground.

Ruan Tang stepped out of Yan Yu's embrace, walked a few steps to the edge of the pit, and squatted down. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
