"Tangtang, I'll keep this safe."
As soon as he finished speaking, the two red marriage certificates vanished from his hands and were carefully stored in his spatial storage.
After doing all this, Yan Yu couldn't hide the smile in his eyes.
"Let's go take pictures."
Although he has a camera in his room, he still wants to take a proper picture outside.
The only photo studio in the commune.
The photographer, a shrewd old man, immediately noticed the unmistakable sweetness of their newlywed bliss. He grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth, and expertly began giving instructions:
"Hey, girl, move closer to the boy! Young man, put your arm around your wife's waist! Be more open!"
Just as the blinding flash of the spotlight went off, a fluffy white head popped out of the spirit beast pouch at Ruan Tang's waist.
It's Xiaobai!
Its two blackish-purple beady eyes stared curiously at the large, glowing iron box, its two lively whiskers twitching.
Yan Yu caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of his eye and glared at it with a sharp look that could freeze ice shards into a person's bones.
Little White shrank his neck.
But the next second, it seemed to have figured out some great truth. Instead of dodging, it puffed out its furry little chest and placed its two little paws on Ruan Tang's arm in a very human-like manner.
It raised its head, trying to strike a solemn pose as if to say, "I am also part of this family, you must include me in the photo."
Hmph, don't even think about kicking it out of this house!
Yan Yu raised an eyebrow sharply, about to shove the eyesore of a lump of flesh back in.
Ruan Tang burst out laughing, like a flower blown open by the wind.
She reached out and pressed down on his large hand that was about to "commit a crime," then leaned close to his ear, her breath soft and light, brushing against his earlobe like a small brush.
"Okay, let's take it together," she pleaded softly, her voice sweet and affectionate, "Let's treat it as... our first family photo."
The three words "family portrait" were like a feather, precisely scratching the most itchy spot in Yan Yu's heart, making him feel both tingly and numb.
That slight unpleasantness vanished in an instant.
He lowered his head and flicked the smug little mouse on the head with a light touch, which was his tacit approval.
After taking the photos, Yan Yu took her to the supply and marketing cooperative and the department store, where they spent all their coupons on candy, fabric, and a bunch of odds and ends.
He found a secluded corner, packed all the bags and packages into his spatial storage, and then took Ruan Tang to the post office.
The phone was answered after a few beeps, and a deep, dignified, and aged voice came from the other end.
"Hello?"
“Master, it’s me.” Yan Yu’s voice carried a rare respect. “I’m married.”
Fang Xiuyan on the other end of the phone was visibly taken aback for a moment, then burst into a hearty laugh, his voice full of satisfaction: "You rascal! You're quick on your feet! Great news, really great news! After the New Year, you must bring your wife back to Beijing so your teacher's wife and I can have a good look at her! I'll have her prepare a wedding gift for you two, and we'll send it over in a couple of days!"
After hanging up the phone, Yan Yu's mood visibly improved, and even his walking posture exuded a lazy feeling of being full and satisfied.
He took Ruan Tang's hand and went to a state-run restaurant, where they ordered two hearty dishes and had a proper meal.
After the meal, Ruan Tang, being led by the hand, couldn't help but whisper, "Brother, are you... really not going to tell that family?" (This chapter has been read. Please click the next chapter to continue reading!)
