When Yan Yu returned, the team's morning workday ended at the same time.
He had barely stepped into the courtyard when the puppet grandmother had already laid out a table full of fragrant lunch.
A glistening roasted chicken sits in the center, flanked by spicy beef glistening with red oil, bright green and golden-brown tiger-skin peppers, a plate of refreshing cucumber rolls, and finally a bowl of loofah soup.
The aroma of the rice mixed with the smell of meat is so tempting that it makes your mouth water.
"Miss, son-in-law, it's time to eat," the puppet grandmother called out respectfully.
Upon hearing the word "son-in-law," Yan Yu couldn't help but secretly curl his lips upwards, before quickly suppressing it again.
He nodded with feigned modesty, walked over naturally, and pulled out the chair next to Ruan Tang to sit down.
First, he served Ruan Tang a bowl of rice, then picked up the biggest chicken leg and placed it steadily into her bowl, his movements so practiced it seemed like he had done it a thousand times.
As Ruan Tang ate her meal in small bites, the ripples in her heart stirred by him were finally soothed by the comforting warmth of the home.
She swallowed a mouthful of rice before remembering her business and looking up.
"Brother, you walked so fast on the mountain today, did you discover something?"
Yan Yu paused, his hand still holding the food, and after thinking for a moment, he lowered his voice and said, "That rock, and the thing underneath it, is very strange."
He put down his chopsticks, his expression turning serious.
"I suspect that's no ordinary mineral vein; it's very likely a nearly dried-up dragon vein."
"Or... something else, whose energy was completely absorbed by the formation. If that's the case, it's very likely that multiple forces are involved."
"However, it's too early to say. I left a mental imprint there, so I'll know immediately if anything gets close."
Ruan Tang nodded, her heart heavy.
The world is far more complex than she imagined.
Yan Yu's gaze fell on her face, watching her cheeks puff out as she ate, like a little hamster, and his eyes softened involuntarily.
But when she thought about how she had been alone on the mountain, her tone shifted and she fell silent again.
"Weren't you cutting pig feed with Shen Yishan before? How come you were all alone later?"
Upon hearing this, Ruan Tang suddenly slapped her forehead, realizing she had almost forgotten something else!
"oops!"
She quickly put down her chopsticks, leaned forward, and lowered her voice as if sharing some earth-shattering secret: "I forgot! Shen Yishan accidentally cut her hand today, and the sickle was rusty. I took her to the clinic."
"Han Zhishan wasn't in the clinic, but his son Han Jiancheng was. I sensed the location of the Spirit Butterfly, and Han Zhishan wasn't in the village."
Yan Yu paused in his chopsticks, his face darkening.
"Going out?"
Ruan Tang nodded affirmatively, "Yes, at that time, the location of the spirit butterfly I sensed was quite far away, and the message it sent back was rather blurry. I only saw Han Zhishan getting on the bus to the county town."
A brigade's barefoot doctor usually stayed within the commune and didn't even need to go to the county town.
Han Zhishan's actions were highly unusual.
Especially since he just said the day before yesterday that he wanted to bring his son back to continue working as a sanitation worker, it seems he should really dislike going to the county hospital.
Yan Yu put down his chopsticks, his dark eyes like ice. He stared at Ruan Tang, his voice low and deliberate, saying, "It seems that Han Zhishan really has a lot of problems."
"His trip wasn't just to the county town... I suspect he went to see someone he shouldn't have." (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
