He used his powerful aura to forcefully separate this small patch of shade into two worlds.

On one side, there was the human suffering of people sweating profusely and eating dry rations.

On the other side was a paradise that belonged only to her, filled with pink bubbles, and even the air was sweet.

Sitting not far away, Shen Yishan watched as Yan Yu patiently and gently brought the food to Ruan Tang's lips.

Turning his head, he looked at Gu Jinzhou, who was tilting his head back and gulping down water not far away.

Gu Jinzhou didn't glance in her direction once throughout the entire process.

The cold treatment of being completely ignored, and the pampered love that Ruan Tang received, made her heart ache with envy.

A scalding tear fell unexpectedly onto the back of her hand.

Shen Yishan trembled as if she had been burned. She hurriedly lowered her head and wiped her face haphazardly with her sleeve.

Lin Xiangnan watched from the side and sighed. She took a big bite of the coarse grain and vegetable dumpling in her hand, chewing until her cheeks were numb.

She lowered her voice and said to Shen Yishan in a volume that only the two of them could hear, "See? People's fates are just different."

"Instead of crying over this block of ice, you'd be better off putting in more effort to work and earn more work points. Also, take my advice: dump that clueless idiot and find someone who treats you well, cherishes you, and loves you. Then you can be pampered like our Ruan Ruan!"

Lin Xiangnan had already spoken with great restraint.

But to Shen Yishan's ears, it sounded like the other person was holding a knife, slashing her right in the heart, one cut after another, causing her so much pain she couldn't breathe.

Ruan Tang ate until she was half full, and finally felt that she had recovered from her fatigue.

She tugged at Yan Yu's sleeve and whispered, with a hint of coquetry, "I can do it myself."

Yan Yu remained silent.

He simply opened the last lunchbox, picked up a piece of crystal-clear chilled rice cake with clean chopsticks, and once again, without a word, put it to her lips.

The chilled rice cake melts in your mouth, carrying a faint fragrance of lotus blossoms. It's sweet but not cloying, and its cool, refreshing taste goes straight to your heart.

Ruan Tang completely gave up resisting.

All right.

If her partner is willing to pamper her, she should just accept it.

Lunch ended in this strange yet harmonious atmosphere.

"Clang—clang—clang—"

The bell rang again, signaling the end of lunch break.

Yan Yu slowly and methodically tidied up everything, put it back in the basket, and then gave Ruan Tang a military water bottle filled with spiritual spring water.

He had plenty of this stuff in his space, which he filled with spiritual spring water. Fortunately, time was frozen in his space, so he could drink it anytime, and it would always be refreshing.

Yan Yu stood up, casually put away the futon he was on, and then turned to look at Ruan Tang.

"Don't do anything this afternoon."

He picked up a wooden fork that was placed to the side, his voice low and authoritative.

"You can sit here and rest until I finish work."

After saying that, he didn't give Ruan Tang any chance to refuse. He took a wooden fork with his other hand, turned around, carried both forks, and strode to the place where the rice was drying.

His tall figure cast a shadow in the scorching sunlight, and the shadow quickly moved along with its owner.

Ruan Tang looked at the man, who was carefully turning over the wheat stalks.

A warmth spread through my heart; she really wasn't that delicate.

With her Qi Refining Level 2 cultivation and the occasional nourishment from the spiritual spring water, this physical labor was no different from taking a walk for her.

But Yan Yu's recent desire to practically tuck her into his pocket has become increasingly obvious.

His intention was to comfort her, and Ruan Tang understood and didn't resent it.

But in this era, it's too conspicuous to just eat without working.

She didn't want to argue with him in front of so many people and embarrass him, so she remained seated, intending to wait until he went to the fields before continuing. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
