At a command, the two puppets, like the most precise machines, began to move.

Afu was in charge of cutting the paper and climbing high, while his mother-in-law was in charge of applying adhesive and smoothing the wallpaper. Their movements were so fast that only afterimages remained.

In just ten minutes, the walls and ceilings of the three rooms were covered with brand-new wallpaper, with perfectly fitted edges and a smooth finish without a single bubble.

The whole house has been renovated and is much brighter.

Satisfied, she put the puppet back into her spatial storage. Just as she stepped out of the main room, intending to check on the next room, she saw Yan Yu walk in from outside the courtyard gate.

He was still holding tools in his hand, and there was a thin layer of sweat on his forehead, clearly indicating that he had just finished "practicing".

"Where are you going?" He raised an eyebrow at her.

Ruan Tang pursed her lips: "I'll go help you."

"No need." Yan Yu laughed, his voice full of undisguised joy. "Once that's done, I'll help you install the glass and nail the window screens. After that, I'll help you put up the wallpaper."

Ruan Tang lowered her head somewhat guiltily, her voice barely audible: "...I've finished putting up the wallpaper."

Yan Yu was taken aback upon hearing this.

He subconsciously peeked into the room, a hint of surprise flashing across his deep eyes, but more than that, there was understanding and an unyielding doting affection.

He didn't ask anything, but simply looked down at the top of the little girl's head, his tone so gentle it could melt your heart.

"Go and rest, leave the rest to me."

Watching the man deftly measure and install the glass, Ruan Tang felt that it was a bit unreasonable for her to just sit there doing nothing.

She turned and went to the kitchen.

The stove was newly built, and the large iron pot she had brought was already installed on it. She found some firewood in the backyard and clumsily lit a fire to boil water, trying to remember how it was done.

Just as her eyes were watering from the smoke from the firewood, the sky outside the window suddenly changed color.

A blinding flash of lightning tore through the night sky, followed immediately by a deep rumble of thunder!

A fierce wind howled, stirring up dust in the yard and making the gate bang loudly.

Yan Yu, who was installing the last piece of glass, paused, looked up at the dark sky, and a glint of shrewdness flashed in his eyes.

He was afraid the little girl would be scared alone in the kitchen, so he rushed in.

As soon as I entered, I saw her squatting in front of the stove, her fair face covered in soot, looking like a wronged little kitten that dared not utter a sound.

His heart softened suddenly, and he stepped forward.

"Tangtang, the glass, window screen, and window paper are all done."

He had just opened his mouth, intending to say that he should go back, when large raindrops began to pelt down, instantly forming a curtain of rain in the yard.

Yan Yu turned around, glanced at the torrential rain outside, and the composure on his face vanished instantly.

Instead, there was a perfectly timed awkwardness and helplessness.

He just stared at Ruan Tang, the tall man now revealing a hint of helplessness, like a large wolfhound drenched in the rain and unable to find its home, and pitifully spoke:

"Tangtang, the rain is too heavy..."

"I haven't tidied up my things yet, the house is a mess..."

He paused, his dark eyes fixed on her, his voice carrying a hint of cautious probing.

"May I stay here tonight?"

Ruan Tang was completely stunned by his words.

Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes widened instantly.

Her mind went blank, with only two words echoing wildly in her head.

Staying...staying overnight?! (This chapter has been finished. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
