In this way, without Ruan Tang having to lift a finger, Madam Bai will take care of Mayor Bai.
As for Jia Ximei, it's unknown what her people will do now that the mission has failed.
But it doesn't matter, she'll be going to the countryside soon. Once there, she can cultivate and improve her strength, so she won't be afraid of any moves her opponent makes.
After Ruan Tang finished doing all this, the puppet grandmother also erased the last trace of the scene.
The master and servant left quietly, as if they had never set foot in this place.
……………………
The night deepened, and all was quiet.
The puppet grandmother carried Ruan Tang on her back and hurried towards the outskirts of the city.
The city lights were left far behind, replaced by boundless darkness and the sound of the wind in the wilderness.
The two stopped beside a desolate, uninhabited mass grave.
Ruan Tang took out another puppet from her spatial storage. This puppet was a tall man. She took out the bankbooks she had collected from Mayor Bai's house and handed them to the puppet, instructing it to quickly withdraw the money from the bankbooks in the vicinity of Haicheng early in the morning and hide them there until she returned from Beijing.
Then she took out a top-grade spirit stone from her spatial storage and slapped it into the groove in the back of the puppet granny's heart.
With a "click," the old spirit stone was ejected, and a new spirit stone was placed into the slot.
The puppet grandmother's previously dim eyes lit up instantly, and her aura became increasingly solid and heavy.
"Mother-in-law, let's go to Beijing tonight."
Ruan Tang lay on the back of the puppet grandmother, her voice carried away by the night wind.
The enemy is in the dark while we are in the light.
The shadow lurking behind Jia Ximei was like a poisonous needle hanging over her head, making her restless and unable to eat or sleep.
Although the other party is unaware of her existence for the time being, she can no longer stay in this stagnant water of Haicheng.
Before leaving, she needed to find something for Jia Ximei to do. She must be very angry about losing so much money, and with Madam Bai's targeting, she probably wouldn't have time to report to her superiors for a while.
Taking advantage of this little bit of time, she first transferred the money out and rushed to the countryside; improving her own capabilities was of utmost importance.
Ruan Tang looked up at the waning moon in the sky, and that feeling of irritation welled up in her heart again.
She always felt that there was a pair of eyes watching the Ruan family from the shadows.
But what exactly does the Ruan family possess that makes them so worthy of such meticulous scrutiny?
She couldn't think of anything else besides money.
"never mind."
Ruan Tang buried her face in the broad back of the puppet grandmother and said in a muffled voice, "Grandma, hurry up. We need to see the capital before dawn."
"Yes, Miss."
The puppet grandmother responded, and with a light step, her tall figure transformed into a blurry shadow, tearing through the night and rushing northward.
The male puppet that remained in place watched the two leave, and then vanished from the spot like a ghost.
The puppet grandmother was incredibly fast; she and her puppet arrived in the capital city just as dawn was breaking.
A light rain had just fallen in the early morning, and the air was filled with the damp, earthy smell, mixed with the unique damp chill of the bluestone road, which hit us in the face.
Ruan Tang lay on the back of the puppet grandmother, her lazy almond-shaped eyes now shining with a frightening brightness.
This is practically a training ground tailor-made for her!
"Grandma, let's go to the moat."
The figures of a man and a puppet moved silently through the still-sleeping streets.
Soon, the wide moat came into view, a thin, visible layer of white mist rising from its surface. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
