Knowing he had made a mistake, Shen He smiled ingratiatingly as soon as he saw Shi Shi.
"Sis, I was wrong. Please don't tell Mom."
Fu Yingzhou accompanied Zhang Feng out for a smoke, leaving the two sisters to "have a good chat".
"It's fine if you don't tell your aunt, but what exactly happened tonight?" Shi Shi was also scared. What if she really ended up with a paranoid person?
Before she time-traveled, she was stabbed 30 times by her girlfriend after their breakup, and a series of news stories flashed through her mind.
Shen He pouted and said unhappily, "I got caught off guard and he recorded a video of me."
Upon hearing this, Shi Shiteng sat up abruptly: "What video?!"
Seeing her so excited, Shen He realized his words had been ambiguous. He quickly explained, "It's a proposal video. I drank too much once... so..."
Seeing Shen He stammering, Shi Shi slammed her hand on the table. Zhang Feng, standing at the door, looked at Fu Yingzhou, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.
"It's not easy to find a girlfriend."
Fu Yingzhou, with an expression that said, "You don't understand," said, "It's happiness beyond your imagination."
Inside the room, Shi Shi yelled at Shen He, "Is that wine really that good? Did you get carried away with lust again and do something?"
Shen He covered her flushed and burning cheeks: "It's all because of that bastard Lu Chiye. He proposed to me while I was drunk, and I fell for it without even realizing it." After saying that, she stretched out her right hand, and a huge diamond ring was visible on her ring finger.
"He deliberately bought a size too small, and I can't even take it off."
Shishi looked at her coldly: "Do you want me to saw it off for you?"
"Oh? Maybe we should skip it, it's quite expensive."
"Hmph, I can saw off your fingers too."
Just then, Lu Chiye, who had caught up from behind, pushed open the door and walked in. Seeing the tense atmosphere inside, he raised an eyebrow. "What, are you discussing how to saw off your fingers?"
When Shen He saw him, he was furious. "How dare you say that? It's all your fault!"
Lu Chiye smiled and walked towards Shen He, taking her hand with the ring on it. "This ring is so beautiful, and it fits you so well. It would be such a waste to take it off."
Shi Shi looked at him coldly, "I don't care about normal relationships, but what kind of relationship is this forced buying and selling?"
Lu Chiye's smile faded, and he said seriously, "I genuinely want to be with Shen He, but I was afraid she would reject me, so I resorted to this tactic."
Shen He snorted and turned his head away: "I didn't want to be with you anyway."
Fu Yingzhou and Zhang Feng also came in. Zhang Feng tried to smooth things over, saying, "Alright, alright, it's all a misunderstanding. Lu Chiye, don't resort to such petty tricks. Let's talk things out."
Lu Chiye nodded, looking at Shen He with deep affection, "Little bird, we are a match made in heaven. You are greedy for money and lustful, and I am both. You like to go in circles and take detours. I am a natural-born person with no sense of direction, so I need your guidance."
"Aren't you afraid that you'll take many detours if you stay with me?"
Being with you isn't taking a detour; it's about appreciating the scenery along the way more effectively.
Even someone as dense as Shi Shi understood what Shen He meant by "sticky candy." This guy was clearly not someone her cousin could just play around with and then forget. He had no intention of playing at all!
The chat was interrupted, and Shi Shi didn't want to continue. She would never speak ill of Shen He in front of outsiders, including Fu Yingzhou.
"Let's go, I'll take you home."
"No need, sis. We're going in completely opposite directions. By the time you get home, it'll be past midnight. I don't want my brother-in-law to hold a grudge on such a beautiful night."
Shi Shi was speechless. He's so carefree and knows how to joke around.
"Stop talking nonsense. Come to my place tomorrow. I'll settle the score with you then."
Zhang Feng suddenly spoke up, "I'll take her. Where do you live?"
Shi Shi quickly declined, saying, "You've already gone to so much trouble tonight, we'll take you. You should go home and get some rest too." With that, she took out four concert tickets from her handbag.
"Tomorrow is the last show, and the next stop is Shanghai. This ticket is for your colleagues. Thank you for your help. This isn't bribery; I'm just trying to get more fans for my uncle!"
If it were given to him, Zhang Feng would refuse outright. But since it was for Lao Wang and Lou Xiaohe, he accepted it.
Zhang Feng took the ticket: "I thank you on their behalf. They don't have to work tomorrow, so I'll take them home. Otherwise, they might get snatched away by wolves on the way."
Lu Chiye: I'm still here!
Fu Yingzhou nodded: "Okay, then I'll leave it to you."
There's no need for them to say thank you; being too formal would just make it seem fake.
On the way home, Fu Yingzhou sat in the driver's seat, holding the steering wheel with one hand and reaching for Shi Shi's small hand with the other.
"Don't worry, Lu Chiye may be a bit crazy, but he's just a little brother in front of Zhang Feng."
"You know him? He looks like a gangster. Some kind of third or ninth brother. Like a thug."
Fu Yingzhou laughed: "You can't really tell the real gangsters; those who look like gangsters are just petty thugs."
After thinking for a moment, he explained, "They are all veterans. 'Third Brother' and 'Ninth Brother' are not nicknames. They are their rankings among their comrades. The military regularly sends retired soldiers to Lu Chiye's security company."
Shi Shi looked at him with a puzzled expression: "He looks very young."
Fu Yingzhou tightened his grip on the steering wheel: "His father sacrificed his life, and his mother passed away. He was the only one left to take over the company. Fortunately, he proved himself capable. He really did shoulder the responsibility."
Shi Shi knew there was more to this than met the eye, but seeing Fu Yingzhou's low spirits, she didn't press him further. She thought to herself that she'd try to persuade Shen He when she had time. This guy was really pitiful; perhaps she should find someone else to ruin.
Meanwhile, Shen He got into Zhang Feng's passenger seat. From the moment she got in the car, she stared intently at Zhang Feng; anyone with eyes could sense that.
"Do you think people are this unbridled?"
Shen He rested his chin on his hand, striking a Conan-like pose of deep thought: "Have you taken a liking to me?"
"How so?"
"Otherwise, why would you offer to take me home?"
Zhang Feng laughed, but his tanned skin made him look even older when he smiled.
"So everyone who offers to take you home is after you? Being too confident will only hurt you."
"It's true. Everyone who chases after me to take me home likes me."
What if I don't like it?
Shen He glanced at his watch: "It will take about 15 more minutes to get to my house."
The implication is that I will definitely win you over within 15 minutes.
Perhaps finding her too naive, Zhang Feng refused to communicate with her.
The journey was quiet and peaceful.
After getting off the car, Shen He walked inside without looking back.
Zhang Feng called out to her from behind. He leaned against the car door, showing none of the air of a public servant he usually displayed. "You lost, little girl. Don't be so arrogant next time."
Shen He didn't even turn his head, but raised his arm and held up two fingers: "First, given the road conditions just now, it would only take 10 minutes to get to my house. Second, you've stopped me now."
She kept walking forward, saying, "Thank you for tonight, uncle!"
She may have many affairs, but her standards are still quite high.
