"You tried to mess with them, but you ended up losing more than you gained. I wonder what benefits you received? Aren't you afraid of having to give them back?"

Zuo Min acted as if she hadn't heard anything.

Bai Jing sneered twice: "Since you're so capable, my little temple can't contain you anymore. Pack your things and get out of here right now!"

Zuo Min didn't care what she said; Wei Qi was waiting for her call back. It was already late, so she randomly found a prop room and locked the door. She then dialed Wei Qi's number.

"What are you good for? You've worked at the TV station for so long, how can you still be so stupid?!" Wei Qi on the other end of the phone was furious.

"You saw it on the live stream, I did everything I could. I reckon by tomorrow, the whole station will know about my dismissal."

"I got you this job, so what if you lose it?"

Zuo Min gripped the phone tightly, the veins on her hands bulging as if they were about to bulge out from under her skin.

"So, we're even today! From now on, we'll go our separate ways. Don't ask me to do anything for you again!"

Wei Qi: "You're such an ungrateful wretch! Without me, could you have crawled out of that poor mountain village? You've eaten so much of what I've given you, can't you even learn to bark properly?"

Hearing this, Zuo Min felt she had nothing to be angry about. Her relationship with Wei Qi was purely based on mutual benefit.

“I’m grateful that you brought me to Kyoto, so over the years I’ve done a lot of dirty work for you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been able to marry into a wealthy family cleanly.”

"This is our last phone call. Don't contact each other again."

After hanging up the phone, Zuo Min took out the SIM card, broke it into pieces, and threw it angrily on the ground.

She slammed the door and left, the sound fading into the distance until her footsteps could no longer be heard. Nina emerged from behind a pile of clothes.

She had to do her makeup and styling for a midnight show. Too lazy to go home and get ready, she only took a short nap. And then she stumbled upon this shocking scoop! It scared the crap out of her!

She recognized the voice on the other end of the phone! It was so distinctive! It was Wei Qi, the woman rumored to have married into a wealthy family! She really didn't know what grudge these two seemingly unrelated people had against each other.

Bai Jing's office was a small suite. After Zuo Min left, Song Weiqiang pushed open the door and came out of the suite. He gave Bai Jing a comical bow, as if trying to curry favor with her.

He skillfully opened Bai Jing's drawer and took out a pack of women's cigarettes. "Sister Jing, thank you so much this time."

He lit a cigarette and held it to Bai Jing's lips.

Bai Jing opened her mouth and took the cigarette. She took a drag and exhaled a large smoke ring: "I remember, we've been working together for 14 years, haven't we? Time flies, I've gone from a skinny guy to a beer belly."

"Thank you for your help."

"It's not that. I got to where I am today thanks to the former director's promotion. It's just a small act of kindness being repaid with a great one, and I'm repaying it to you."

Song Weiqiang's father-in-law was the previous director of Kyoto Television. Unfortunately, he has already retired, and his influence has waned. Song Weiqiang then settled down to be a small-time director.

"When things first started to go wrong, based on your experience, you should have just cut the video off. If everyone were as daring as you, who would want to start a live streaming program in the future?"

"Oh dear, I misunderstood. That guy is really strong. I originally wanted to give him some room to develop his skills."

"That's not a good way to talk. I don't care what you're doing. You can only use the old station director's face once. There won't be a next time. Understand?"

After finishing her sentence, Bai Jing stubbed out her cigarette in the ashtray. With the cigarette extinguished, the matter ended with Zuo Min.

Although the crisis has been resolved, it doesn't mean Shi Shi will act as if nothing happened.

Shi Shi called Song Ming directly: "Did you watch my live stream tonight?"

Today is a rare moment of family time, and Song Ming is playing with her child.

"I didn't see, what happened?" She called her husband over to play with the child. Then she turned and went back to the bedroom.

"The second host of the show is Zuo Min, who is very hostile towards me and has been targeting me on the show."

Song Ming frowned in confusion: "Have you offended her? Or have you known her before?"

"Absolutely not." She was quite certain of this.

"What did Bai Jing say?"

"They gave me a reward, saying they would help my aunt's husband promote his concert. As for where Zuo Min's poem came from, they will definitely have to explain it to me."

"Leave the rest to me. I'll make things difficult for you openly and honestly. Since you dare to use such underhanded tactics, I doubt you're not afraid of being found out. Bai Jing won't give me a clear answer; at most, she'll just fire him."

"Okay, thank you for your hard work. I won't feel at ease until I find out the truth." She's always been very low-key and doesn't work in the entertainment industry. There's no way she's offended anyone or threatened anyone's interests.

The two had almost finished talking when she saw Fu Yingzhou calling on her phone. Shi Shi hurriedly hung up her conversation with Song Ming.

Hey. Still awake?

"Are you home yet?"

Shi Shi's show aired from 8 to 9 pm, a full hour. After she finished recording, removed her makeup, and chatted with Bai Jing, it was already past 10 pm.

"Not yet, it's on its way."

To look good on camera, Shishi wore a very fitted dress. Fu Yingzhou knew she hadn't eaten dinner, so he asked, "Are you hungry? Want to grab some late-night snacks?"

"Sure, I'm not sleepy right now. How about you come with me to get some barbecue?"

Fu Yingzhou was about to advise her that barbecue at night is hard to digest and bad for her stomach when he suddenly remembered that Shishi had once said she didn't like men who had a fatherly air about them.

Although he had never heard the term "dad's flavor" before, he wasn't stupid and knew what it meant. So he gave up on lecturing him.

The place where they ate barbecue skewers was the same place where Bao Yiting had once brought Shishi to eat.

Compared to going to upscale restaurants and enjoying elaborately presented dishes, a street food stall with grilled skewers has a more down-to-earth, everyday feel.

One by one, small skewers were brought to the table. Once all the food was served, the waiter asked, "What would you two like to drink?"

Fu Yingzhou unexpectedly said, "Have a drink, it'll help you sleep."

Shi Shi looked at him in surprise: "Are you in a bad mood? Why would you need a sleep aid?"

"Not really, I just suddenly felt like drinking." Actually, he was quite excited after watching Shi Shi's interview.

He is usually very considerate. Even after recording the show late at night, he wouldn't ask her to come out, and he would urge Shishi to rest early.

He looked up and found Shi Shi's face close to his. Her bright, sparkling eyes were fixed on him. Her thick, long eyelashes fluttered like tiny fans.

"You're not planning to get me drunk and then take advantage of me, are you?"

The small bottles of baijiu they had ordered were already on the table. Fu Yingzhou filled both of their glasses.

If I say yes, will you fall for my trap?
