The next day

The three of them were going to a class reunion that evening, so Lu Qi scheduled it for lunch. After lunch, the girls could go shopping, so it wouldn't interfere with their evening activities.

The restaurant was a long-established private chef restaurant, which was said to have been cooking for the emperor for generations. There are many such places in Kyoto, but it's hard to say whether it's true or not. Shi Shi was a little stunned when she saw the name.

Sakoen

... ...

I hope we won't have soybean paste for lunch.

Shi Shi was still lost in memories when Lu Qi and Wu Ruirui walked out hand in hand. It was still the same face, but Wu Ruirui seemed like a completely different person.

The once sharp-edged Wu Ruirui is still like a sword, but she has found her own sheath. She has become much gentler.

She knew about the divorce rumors, which had been making headlines. Seeing that Shi Shi looked well, Wu Ruirui felt much relieved.

She thought the best thing she ever did was choose to join Shi Shi's dorm room.

She witnessed firsthand that the passive-aggressive behavior and mutual slander among classmates had ceased. She learned what normal social distance between people truly meant. Although she wasn't particularly close to the three people, she valued them deeply.

She was used to doing everything with all her might because there was no turning back. She could never forget that when her stomach problems flared up, it was Bi Lei who carried her down four flights of stairs.

She was the only girl in her class, and she was of average appearance. Her personality wasn't particularly likable either. She wasn't a goddess or the class darling. And in places with many boys, it's easy for jokes to get out of control. Good manners don't necessarily increase with education. It's just that cultured people can be more subtle and disgusting when they're being cheeky. It was Bao Yiting who threw porridge all over those people. That was the first time she was treated so innocently. And this preferential treatment wasn't because of her grades, but simply because of who she was.

Shi Shi was her favorite person. She possessed a gentleness that emanated from her very being, a gentleness that made people want to get close to her. Yet, she was afraid to approach Shi Shi, fearing that Shi Shi would dislike her coldness and selfishness.

Now, three years later, she finally has the courage to make friends "again." What gave her that courage was the man beside her.

Lu Qi noticed Wu Ruirui's gaze and turned to look at her. "What's wrong?" Wu Ruirui shook her head. "Nothing, it's just that my best friend and the people I love most are here today, so I'm a little happy."

He affectionately patted Rui Rui's forehead: "I'm always here. If you're happy, go out with them more often. Don't always stay cooped up at home alone."

Bao Yiting exaggeratedly crossed her arms: "Oh my, you really don't care about our lives! Rui Rui, are you still yourself? You have to show off your relationship to us. Be careful, three single dogs will surround you and bite you."

“That’s right, Tingting is so envious. We should introduce one to her too,” Bi Lei chimed in.

"I wouldn't dare, but you and Shi Shi could."

Wu Ruirui knew about Bao Yiting's family situation; her family had arranged a marriage for her. Although Bao Yiting was very resistant, she couldn't resist the man's charm. Thanks to him, Bao Yiting hadn't had a single relationship during her four years of university. Every suitor who appeared was immediately ruined. Bi Lei even gave that man the nickname "Peach Blossom Slayer."

Bao Yiting's classic eye roll reappeared: "Don't even mention that lunatic. I don't know what kind of spell my parents were cast on me. They even wanted me to get engaged to him! Engaged my ass!"
