At three in the morning, An Yi returned home. Jin He was already fast asleep. After taking a shower, An Yi quietly lifted the covers and lay down. He felt the person next to him move slightly, turn over and snuggle into his arms, draping his arm over his waist.

Did I wake you up?

"No," Jin He mumbled, "I was thinking of apologizing to you."

An Yi was stunned for a moment, wondering what wrong Jin He had done that required an apology.

Jin He rubbed her eyes, desperately trying to shake off her sleepiness: "I didn't mean to stay late today, I wanted to talk to them for a bit..."

An Yi's heart softened instantly, and he reached out to hold Jin He's hand as she rubbed her eyes: "I know, you go to sleep, I know..."

"I'm sorry," Jin He said softly, "I promise you, I'll never stay up late again..."

"It's okay, just for today." An Yi lowered his head and kissed his eyelids. "Go to sleep."

Good night.

"good evening."

Having been forgiven, Jin He once again drifted into a sweet dream.

An Yi embraced Jin He's slender body, lowered his head to sniff his neck, and let out a long sigh.

It's his fate to not be able to have a wife, but that's okay. Who says An Yi isn't a warrior of pure love?

However, Jin He had gone to bed late today, and An Yi was a little worried. He checked Jin He's heart rate and my blood oxygen level again before he felt relieved and hugged Jin He to sleep. They slept soundly through the night without any dreams.

The next day, An Yi gave Jin He a short break, letting him sleep until nine o'clock. He had to wake him up and have dinner before he finally had the heart to drag him out of bed.

"How did you sleep?"

"I'm still a little sleepy." Jin He squinted, half-asleep. "Breakfast is out! I'm going to sleep first."

“You’ve slept for seven hours, that’s enough.” An Yi chuckled and reached out to pull him up. “Get up, we have to go to the hospital today.”

"I need to be hospitalized again."

Jin He complained softly.

“Yes, after this surgery we won’t be hospitalized anymore.” An Yi squatted down and helped Jin He put on her woolen socks. “Be good, I made you some blueberry and yam puree this morning.”

Jin He was still sleepy.

"Shall we wash our faces?" An Yi reached out and pinched his cheek.

"Your hand!" Jin He glared, half-awake. "You touched my foot and then you touched my face!"

"What's wrong? You're looking down on yourself?"

"Of course not!" Jin He reached out and rubbed her face. "It's so dirty, filthy."

An Yi found it somewhat endearing to watch him grumble and mutter as he went to the bathroom to wash up. No matter how difficult Jin He was to raise or serve, at least he had finally gained a little weight these past few days, although he was still just a skinny skeleton...

But it's better than nothing.

The sound of running water from the bathroom faucet came through, and An Yi's smile gradually faded: if he had to have another surgery, he might lose all the weight he had managed to gain.

This is really worrying.

Jin He ate the small bowl of blueberry and yam puree this morning. Because of his stomach problems, Aunt Shu added very little sugar, but he didn't complain that it wasn't sweet enough. After finishing his meal, he sat on the big bed in the bedroom and watched An Yi pack his luggage.

Don't be afraid.

Jin He said.

"What am I afraid of?" An Yi squatted down to fold clothes, stuffing Jin He's thermal underwear and small blanket into the suitcase, along with his toiletries and some nutritional supplements. "Aren't you the one having surgery? Shouldn't I be the one saying this to you?"

“I’m used to it by now.” Jin He touched her nose. “I had a stent implanted before, but it was a minimally invasive procedure.”

He rolled up his sleeve and showed him the scar on his forearm: "Look, it's just this white spot."

An Yi grasped his thin forearm and asked, "Does it hurt?"

Jin He shook her head: "I was given anesthesia, so I just took a nap. When I woke up, the doctor told me I was all better and that I should be more careful when I got home and never go to the hospital again. So it's the same this time. Just think of it as me taking a nap and being fine."

But how can minimally invasive surgery be compared to open-chest surgery?

They're going to saw off your ribs!

An Yi's lips twitched, as if he was about to laugh but didn't.

"I'll be all better once I'm discharged from the hospital." Jin He reached out and hugged An Yi's stiff body. "I want to rest and recuperate properly. Once my condition stabilizes, I'll go find that agent, the one who gave me his business card last time."

"Fu Youwu?"

"Okay," Jin He said. "I won't work so hard to earn money anymore. I'll just think of it as finding a job that suits me. If there's a job, I'll take it; if not, I'll stay home and rest. Is that okay?"

"You want to change your career path?" An Yi said, frowning. "But being an actor is very hard work."

“I’ll just take on fewer roles,” Jin He said. “I don’t want to stay at home like a couch potato.”

"How could it be a rice weevil?"

"But I also feel scared and uneasy. I want to earn my own money."

"We'll talk about it after you're discharged from the hospital."

An Yi's words basically meant he agreed, and Jin He nodded happily: "Don't worry, I'll know what I'm doing."

Whether Jin He has a sense of proportion is still debatable, but he has a significant hurdle to overcome. After arriving at the hospital and consulting with a doctor, the doctor finalized the surgical plan and suggested that Jin He spend the night in the ICU for observation.

"ICU!" An Yi exclaimed anxiously, "Why does he need to stay in the ICU again? What's wrong with him?"

"It's nothing, we just need to be observed overnight before the surgery, so family members shouldn't worry too much."

Jin He sat in the chair, looking up at An Yi, her hand still holding An Yi's cold hand: "Don't worry."

“How could this happen out of nowhere…” An Yi simply couldn’t understand it. “ICU isn’t exactly a comfortable place.”

Jin He had previously complained to him in a low voice that the ICU was very dark at night, the machines were very noisy, and the nurses kept coming to check on him, making it difficult for him to sleep all night. An Yi naturally didn't want that, so he asked, "Can I go in and keep you company..."

"cannot."

An Yi was speechless, gritting his teeth and remaining silent.

"It's okay," Jin He comforted him. "It's just one night. I won't be conscious after my surgery tomorrow."

An Yi silently covered his mouth.

It would be better not to offer any comfort.

“I’ll stay outside and watch over you.” An Yi looked at him, her heartache impossible to hide. “It’s dark inside, and the machines are very noisy, but don’t be afraid. We can go home once you’re better.”

Jin He found his words baffling: "I'm not scared at all."

What's wrong with him again?

“I’m used to it. It’s not like I haven’t stayed in places like that before.” Jin He patted An Yi’s shoulder. “You don’t need to stay with me anymore. Go back and rest.”
