Chapter 126 Allergies

If raising a kitten means attracting all of Jin He's attention, then An Yi would rather he had never agreed in the first place!
"Didn't you say you wouldn't raise them?"
An Yi stared blankly at the room full of cat litter, scratching posts, cat beds, cat trees, and cat food, while Jin He lay on the floor scratching the kitten's chin.
"Who was it that swore they wouldn't support her back then? What are they doing now? Hmm?" An Yi reached out and pulled Jin He up.
"Don't pull me, it's hurting my arm," Jin He complained softly.
"Didn't you say you wouldn't raise them?"
"They said they wouldn't keep it." Jin He touched his nose. "We'll just take it in for a while, and then we'll send it away once we find an owner for Er Gou."
"A colleague called at noon today saying they wanted to adopt, why didn't you agree?"
“I don’t know anything about him, I’m afraid he’ll mistreat Er Gou.”
"Jiang Xiubai knows you inside and out, so why don't you agree?"
“Then…” Jin He opened her mouth, and explained weakly, “Isn’t Jiang Xiubai busy with work, flying around all the time? What if the kitten misses its owner?”
An Yi stared at Jin He expressionlessly. Jin He didn't look at him, but silently held the kitten in her arms.
Why are your eyes red?
Jin He rubbed her eyes: "Really? They've been a little itchy for the past couple of days..."
An Yi had a suspicion and took the kitten from Jin He's arms: "Don't hold him anymore, go and drink your Chinese medicine."
The kitten was suddenly taken into An Yi's arms and meowed uncomfortably. Jin He looked worried and reached out to take the kitten back, but An Yi simply put it on the cat tree.
“It’s very clingy,” An Yi said.
"Hmm." Jin He held the medicine bowl, her eyes still unconsciously looking this way. "It's probably because I fed it cat food. It follows me wherever I go."
"Your eyes are always itchy, are you allergic to cat hair?" An Yi walked over and stared at his red eyes. "Let me see, hey, stop rubbing them."
"No way, I didn't feel itchy when I rubbed my chubby cat at home on the weekend."
"Fatty is a dog, and Er Gou is a cat, how can they be the same?"
"How come it's different?" Jin He added, "It's probably because I've been using my tablet too much lately. I'll be fine after a rest tonight."
That very night, An Yi deprived Jin He of his right to use the tablet. At bedtime, he forced Jin He to go to bed, covered him with a blanket, patted his back, and sang to him.
"What is this?" Jin He asked. "Is it that song?"
“Yes, ‘Tell Me Everything’,” An Yi said.
"You're not allowed to sing this song." Jin He suddenly got angry, turned her body away, and only showed An Yi her back.
An Yi scratched his head, wondering why Jin He had suddenly gotten angry again. So he turned Jin He around and pulled him into his arms, saying, "Shall we change the song? How about a soothing one?"
"I'm going to sleep, please stop singing." Jin He pulled the covers up over herself. "I'm going to sleep now."
Although he didn't know why Jin He suddenly threw a tantrum, An Yi thought it was quite cute when he was being temperamental. He chuckled and kissed Jin He's eyelids: "Goodnight."
"good evening."
"However, your eyelids are already a little hot, so you're not allowed to rub your eyes tonight."
"Okay."
An Yi initially thought it was just a minor symptom, but the next morning Jin He started coughing and sneezing, one cough after another, and he couldn't even eat. His face was covered in tears. An Yi felt sorry for him and called the doctor to come and see him, but the doctor looked very serious.
"These don't seem like cold symptoms." He straightened up, the oxygen mask still on Jin He's face. "Did you get a kitten recently?"
"Yes, I got one to keep him company and keep him company."
"It sounds a bit like allergy symptoms."
An Yi clearly felt Jin He in his arms stiffen slightly.
“Most people with pet allergies can gradually manage their condition by taking allergy medication, but you know Jinhe's situation. Before the two of you have developed a strong bond, let's…”
An Yi raised his hand and touched Jin He's hair, indicating that he shouldn't worry. Although Jin He said he didn't like it and didn't want to raise it, he had actually prepared everything for him. His kitten had everything that other kittens had. It would be too cruel to separate him from the kitten now.
Moreover, Jin He might not agree.
“Cough…I understand…cough cough…” Jin He nodded, “Let’s call Xiu Bai.”
Jiang Xiubai happened to be in Haicheng recently. When she arrived at An Yi's house, Jin He had already closed the door. The kitten was squatting at the door, looking on longingly. An Yi picked up the kitten and put it in Jiang Xiubai's arms: "Take it away, don't let Jin He see it."
Why did you suddenly change your mind?
“He’s allergic to cat fur, so he can’t keep it.” An Yi turned his head and glanced at the closed door. “He’s feeling uneasy.”
"Oh dear, look at the mess this has made." Jiang Xiubai subconsciously reached out and scratched the kitten's head. "So what do we do now?"
Did you drive here?
"Yes, that's right."
"I'll help you pack the cat tree, litter box, cat bed, cat food, and everything else in a bit, so he won't be sad when he sees it, and you won't have to say goodbye to him."
"Okay," Jiang Xiubai said, "I'll take the kitten with me first."
The kitten seemed to know it was time to leave, meowing and struggling. Although it had stayed at home for two days, An Yi had grown quite fond of the little guy. Seeing its pitiful state, he felt a little reluctant to part with it and reached out to rub its head: "Goodbye."
The house returned to silence. An Yi sighed as he looked at the empty house, then went back to his room to check on Jin He.
Sure enough, as soon as he entered the room, he saw Jin He's back. He always did this; whenever he was unhappy, he would turn his back to people. An Yi knew this time that he hadn't provoked him, so he went over and pulled him out of bed, then picked him up and held him in his arms.
He noticed that even though they had left the allergen, Jin He's eyes were still red, and she looked genuinely upset.
“We’re not meant to be with kittens,” An Yi said, stroking the back of his neck. Jin He leaned on his shoulder, a position that gave him a great sense of security. He grabbed An Yi’s clothes and exhaled.
"What's wrong? Are you sad?"
"This body is so useless," Jin He complained softly. "I can't eat delicious food, I can't run or jump, and now I can't even keep a kitten. It's so boring to live like this for the rest of my life."
An Yi said, "Don't you still have me?"
Jin He propped herself up on her arms and glanced at him, then lay back down: "What's the use if you can only look but not eat?"
An Yi was amused by Jin He's words. So she had been thinking about this all along. So she stretched out her arm and said, "You can't eat it, but I'll give you a bite. Go ahead and take a bite."
Jin He reached out and touched the rice seedling tattoo on An Yi's wrist, then opened her mouth and bit down on the tattoo, leaving a shallow tooth mark.
Jin He touched the tattoo and opened her mouth to say, "I want to..."
"no!"
Jin He: "..."
