An Yi, that big idiot, was completely unaware of Jin He's unusual behavior. It wasn't until the nurse pushed the medicine cart over that he remembered to stop her: "I'm sorry, please go back first. I'll find a way to get him to eat something tonight."

“I can’t eat any of it, I’m not kidding you,” Jin He said coldly. “I’m not trying to be cute with you anymore, I really can’t eat.”

"Do you know how painful it is to get a nutritional injection?"

“I know,” Jin He said. “What else can I do? Starve to death? Nurse, thank you.”

Jin He stretched out his arm. His arm had been covered in needle marks from the past few days, and he was basically on an IV drip as soon as he opened his eyes. After the nurse gave him the IV, she told Jin He, "This kind of thing is only for emergencies and cannot completely replace food. You still need to eat something tomorrow, otherwise your gastrointestinal function will deteriorate."

The nutrient solution was much more concentrated than the medicine, and her arm soon began to swell and ache. Jin He pursed her pale lips and said, "I understand. I'll take it tomorrow morning."

An Yi noticed the fine beads of cold sweat on Jin He's forehead and reached out to rub Jin He's stomach, but Jin He dodged away, saying, "You should go back first."

"What?"

"You should go back first. You've been here with me for so many days. Go back and get some rest," Jin He said. "I'll transfer the medical expenses to your card tomorrow. I'll treat you to a meal after I'm discharged from the hospital."

"Does it really have to be calculated so precisely?"

"What else?"

An Yi gritted his teeth as he watched Jin He lie down again, turning his back to him.

Jin He lay there with her eyes closed, hearing the sound of the door closing behind her, and a wave of sorrow welled up in her heart.

See, Jin He, you've gotten too cocky.

An Yi is right, they're all grown up, why do they need to be coaxed to eat? But...

Jin He raised his hand to look at the needle in his arm, then decided to give up. He would start eating well tomorrow and try to be discharged from the hospital as soon as possible. He didn't want An Yi and Lin Nian to take care of him anymore; they didn't owe him anything.

Just as Jin He was clutching his stomach and feeling drowsy, he heard the door behind him suddenly open. Before he could react, he felt someone, warm and cozy, crawl into his bed.

An Yi reached out and protected Jin He's stomach. He could feel the spasms inside even through the fabric of her clothes. Jin He must be feeling unwell. He opened his mouth and said, "I'm sorry."

Jin He pursed his lips, feeling both nauseous and having a stomachache. His arm also ached. He really wanted to faint so he wouldn't have to suffer anymore.

"I'll discuss it with you next time I give you meat," An Yi said, his voice muffled as he pulled Jin He into his arms. "I'm sorry you suffered again, don't be angry."

Jin He was nestled in An Yi's arms, a position that gave her a great sense of security, but An Yi's words made Jin He feel tired.

"It's okay," Jin He said with her eyes closed.

"Does your stomach still hurt?" An Yi asked, letting Jin He lie on his arm. "Let me rub it for you."

It wasn't just a stomachache; Jin He had been vomiting a lot these past few days. He could feel his stomach and entire digestive tract burning, and his throat was probably inflamed too, making it painful to even swallow.

An Yi gently and slowly massaged Jin He's stomach with his hand. He looked at Jin He and said, "You haven't been in a good mood these past few days."

Jin He listened quietly without saying a word.

"You've been in a bad mood these past few days, I can tell, but you're in an especially bad mood today."

However, for the first time, An Yi was so considerate that he didn't ask Jin He why he was in a bad mood. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Jin He was squatting alone on the street with a high fever. Shouldn't he be at home eating dumplings with his family on such a day of family reunion?

But when he arrived at the hospital, the doctor told him that the patient had not eaten for at least twelve hours.

That means that Jin He didn't actually eat anything when he got home on New Year's Eve. That's very strange. After working outside for a year, he came home on New Year's Eve, and even if his family didn't have the tradition of staying up all night, they should at least make him a plate of dumplings, and they should be vegetarian dumplings.

Moreover, Jin He burned for so long, didn't anyone care about him? He didn't tell anyone either.

An Yi had noticed when he visited Jin He's home that Jin He's relationship with his family might not be as harmonious as he had imagined, but he didn't expect it to be this bad, to the point that they could kick the child out on the first day of the Lunar New Year.

However, An Yi felt that this was just because Jin He hadn't been in a good mood a few days ago. Even if he was unhappy, Jin He could still argue and fight with him, but today he was obviously listless. An Yi glanced at the drowsy Jin He in his arms and was full of questions.

Why?

Because I yelled at him this morning?

I didn't say anything particularly offensive, did I? Why have you been angry all day?

"Jin He, are you still angry?" An Yi asked him.

Jin He opened her eyes: "I'm not angry anymore."

"Then why are you so gloomy?"

"I do not feel well."

All right.

An Yi placed the hot water bottle on Jin He's stomach and even tried to negotiate with her: "So what should we eat tomorrow morning? What do you want to eat? I'll do whatever you say tomorrow morning."

“Anything is fine,” Jin He replied. “I want to sleep.”

An Yi glanced at his watch; it wasn't time for him to go to bed yet. So he turned Jin He over so that Jin He was facing him and said, "Jin He, listen to me."

“Your health is not good right now. Stomach ulcers and such are minor problems. You also have myocarditis. Don’t you feel chest tightness and shortness of breath? You need to supplement your nutrition so that you can recover quickly.”

Jin He nodded, indicating that she was listening.

“When I held you yesterday, I noticed you were very light, probably less than 95 pounds. At this weight, you won’t look good on camera even after you’re discharged from the hospital. You need to gain all that weight back.”

Jin He suddenly looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with a hint of sadness.

"So, will you be able to eat properly tomorrow?"

Jin He didn't speak, resting his forehead against An Yi's chest. After a long while, he asked again, "An Yi, what is our relationship now?"

An Yi was speechless. After all, he had been acting as Jin He's boyfriend for half a year without her knowing. If he were to claim to be Jin He's boyfriend now, he would probably turn on her immediately.

An Yi was actually very aggrieved. Being her boyfriend wasn't a bad thing, so why did Jin He reject her like a monster?

Jin He had recently lost so much weight that his eyes were deeply sunken, and he looked emaciated. He just stared at An Yi for a while and then said knowingly, "Let's go to sleep, I'm tired."

Is there anything else that's bothering you?

"No."
