"Oh, Xiao He is just eating."
When He Mingxu entered the training room, he saw Jin He holding a piece of whole wheat bread in her right hand and an iced Americano in her left. She was eating the bread and coffee in turns, her cheeks bulging out. Even while eating, she didn't forget to do stretching and warm-up exercises with the instructor.
Upon seeing the director arrive, he hurriedly swallowed the bread in two or three bites, choking so badly that he pounded his chest in frustration.
"Big stars are so busy that they don't even have time to eat."
Jin He grunted and replied, "I didn't eat enough at noon."
"Oh, that's great! It's normal for young men this age to have a big appetite, haha."
Jin He chuckled dryly twice, finished his coffee, looked left and right, and ran a long way to throw the cup away.
"Your company didn't assign you an assistant?"
"My manager usually comes with me, but I come by myself when my manager isn't around. My assistant is from the group and goes with the team."
"How can that be the same? An assistant does odd jobs for you, like fetching water, taking out the trash, ordering food, and carrying bags. You can't do all that by yourself, can you?"
Jin He's gaze seemed to ask, "Why can't you do it yourself?"
Isn't this something that can be done easily?
"Besides, you have so many external affairs to attend to. Having an assistant can help you out a bit, so you won't be busy all day long like a hamster in a cage."
"I always thought that assistants were a privilege reserved for big names and celebrities."
He Xuyang looked at Jin He, who still looked deep in thought. He sighed. This was just an eighteen-year-old kid who had only been in the industry for half a year. No matter how cunning he was, he was still a child. In fact, anyone with eyes could see how his company treated him, and he probably knew it too.
"Train hard." He Mingxu patted his thin, bony shoulder. "Act well, and who knows, your chance to turn things around might come."
Jin He's daily schedule is like this: he usually trains at the base all day, then goes back to the company to attend classes at 7 pm, and returns to his dormitory at midnight. However, he has been training for the past few days and has not been working, which has caused him a great deal of anxiety—he is out of money.
Most of the money he earns goes directly to his mother-in-law's hospital fees. Her hospital fees are so expensive, and he's only just started out and doesn't actually earn as much as he imagined. Besides, he also has to pay for Xiao Miao's tutoring classes. This kind of training routine will last at least a month.
That's how it is for celebrities; if they don't work, they don't earn money!
Jin He sighed as she looked at her bank account balance.
Wang Yang glanced back at him and chuckled, "At such a young age, why do you have so many worries?"
"I'm out of money." Jin He said with a worried look.
"No money? You were making so much money a day the other day, how could you be broke?" Wang Yang looked him up and down with suspicion. "You didn't take the money to do something bad, did you?"
Jin He rolled her eyes at him: "What do you know?"
"So, do you still want to take on work?" Wang Yang asked while driving. "Actually, I've received some job offers recently, but I haven't scheduled any for you because of your training. Do you still want to take on any work?"
Jin He looked down and fiddled with his phone for a long time without saying a word.
"Jin He?" Wang Yang called him again when he didn't respond.
"Hold on."
Jin He lowered his head and typed rapidly on the screen. After a while, Jin He sighed, "But we can't let it interfere with training."
“Just take one night,” Wang Yang replied. “You should be glad you have tons of work waiting for you right now. You know how many people want to work but don’t even have the chance.”
Jin He raised her hand and rubbed her temples, agreeing to everything. The phone screen froze on a chat page; the WeChat contact name was "Mom." A moment later, the phone vibrated again; it was her saying:
You know, Mom isn't having an easy time these days, Xiaohe, please try to understand Mom.
Jin He turned off her phone screen expressionlessly.
An Yi would wait for Jin He to come home every night before going to sleep, but recently he noticed that Jin He wasn't coming home as often at night. So that day he grabbed Wang Yang and asked, "Where's Jin He?"
"Ah, he's been sleeping outside lately." Wang Yang always felt that An Yi was a fiery troublemaker, so he had a sense of fear.
"Sleeping outside?" An Yi frowned. "The company and the film studio are both very close to the dormitory. You didn't get him any more work, did you?"
What kind of person could be so heartless and insane? Even a spinning top has to stop eventually.
Wang Yang had no intention of getting entangled with An Yi. He said a few words and quickly ran away. An Yi was still worried and looked up at the time. At this time, Jin He should still be training at the film and television base.
Then I'll go check on him.
Jin He was indeed at the film and television base, being suspended by wires and flying around, but he was now encountering a problem—his core might not be in good condition. Whenever the wires lifted him up, he would sway a bit, which greatly annoyed the teacher.
"I'm sorry," Jin He said, looking embarrassed, as she apologized to the teacher.
The teacher rolled her eyes at him and didn't say anything. Jin He scratched his head, unsure of what to do.
"If you keep doing this, I'll have to talk to the director," the teacher said.
"I'm sorry, teacher, I'll think of a way to make amends."
"How can I fix this? Is the core skill something that can be mastered in a day or two?"
"There's still at least a month between now and filming starts, so it shouldn't be too late for me to start practicing now."
The teacher snorted coldly and ignored him, turning to teach others. Jin He was already mentally prepared for the teacher to lose her temper; after all, he wasn't some big shot who needed to be pampered at work, and he was used to it.
He found an empty space to do a plank, but he was so tired that he fell asleep on the ground while resting. He was the one who was discovered by He Mingxu.
"Damn it." He Mingxu patted his chest when he saw Jin He wake up. "You scared me to death. You just fell asleep on the ground. I thought you had fainted."
"I'm sorry, director." Jin He stood up and hugged her water bottle.
"Why are you here all alone? Where is your teacher?"
"I'm practicing my core here, but my coach says my core isn't good and I keep swaying when I'm on the wires," Jin He said, downplaying the issue, before unscrewing his cup and taking a sip of coffee.
"You can fall asleep just by lying down? You're that tired? What time did you go to bed last night?"
"Well, not many."
"It doesn't matter what time it is."
Four o'clock.
He Mingxu: "..."
"You're not planning to die in my base and then scam us out of money, are you?"
Jin He: "What are you thinking?"
"I'm giving you a day off, go back to sleep." He Mingxu shooed Jin He out, "Go, go, go quickly, a little brat like you won't grow tall if he doesn't sleep."
"Director, I..."
"Thank you, Director." An Yi appeared behind Jin He without anyone noticing, took Jin He's hand, nodded to He Mingxu, and said, "I'll take him back to rest. Thank you."
