Chapter 281 Searching for Clues

They quickly entered the house and began to carefully examine every corner of the crime scene, and asked Shen Xiaoxiao's family for details.

One of the police officers asked with a serious expression, "Have you offended anyone recently? Or have you noticed any suspicious individuals in your daily life?"

Shen Zishan frowned deeply, thought hard for a moment, and then slowly shook his head and replied, "Really, no, officer."

“Our family has always acted with the principle of being kind to others. We have never taken the initiative to provoke anyone, let alone made any enemies.”

The police officer nodded and took notes: "We will investigate as soon as possible and strive to solve the case quickly. Please check your home first to see if any other valuables are missing."

Shen Xiaoxiao gently shook her head. "Officer, there wasn't anything valuable in the house. The furniture, walls, and clothes were all destroyed."

She frowned, as if deep in thought, and then added, "However, I've always had a nagging feeling that this thief might not be after money."

Hearing this, the policeman's expression turned serious, and he pressed, "Oh? So, in your opinion, what exactly is the thief's purpose in coming here?"

Shen Xiaoxiao took a deep breath and, as if she had made up her mind, said, "Officer, don't laugh at me, but I suspect this thief is actually after my college acceptance letter!"

"An acceptance letter?" The police officer looked on with suspicion, clearly surprised by this explanation. "What kind of acceptance letter would make a thief so interested?"

Just then, a voice suddenly rang out from the crowd of onlookers: "Oh, officer, you don't know this, do you? Our Shen family's young lady is really promising! She got into Peking University!"

"This morning, the post office staff specially delivered the admission notice to the village. The news has spread throughout the whole village!"

After hearing this, the police officer nodded in understanding and continued to question Shen Xiaoxiao: "Since this admission notice is so important, do you still have it now?"

Shen Xiaoxiao quickly replied, "Yes, I was thinking of keeping the admission notice at home for safekeeping."

But I racked my brains, trying to figure out where to hide it safely and securely. Whether it was deep inside the wardrobe or at the bottom of the box, every place seemed to make me uneasy, and I didn't feel at ease no matter where I put it.

"When I had no other choice, I simply stuffed it into my pocket and took it with me when I went out to work."

To my utter surprise, when I returned home after a long day at work, the scene before me shocked me! The house was a complete mess, utterly a disaster!

At this point, Shen Xiaoxiao's face was filled with anger.

As she described the situation, she reached into her pocket, actually taking out her acceptance letter from her storage space and handing it to the police officer in front of her.

The young policeman was clearly receiving an admission letter from Beijing University for the first time. He nervously rubbed his slightly rough hands together a few times, as if afraid that any dust or dirt on his hands would tarnish the admission letter.

Immediately afterwards, he carefully accepted the admission notice, examining every word and line with great care, his eyes shining with longing.

After only a few quick glances, he dared not linger any longer and quickly returned the admission notice to Shen Xiaoxiao.

The police officer looked around, scanning the crowd, and asked Shen Xiaoxiao, "Has almost everyone in the village gathered here? Is there anyone we've forgotten?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Xiaoxiao quickly scanned her surroundings. After a brief observation, she nodded vigorously and replied, "Yes, they should all be around here."

The other officers nodded and split up, quickly dispersing to find people in the surrounding area to gather more information and clues about the incident.

They walked around the entire village again, asking many residents detailed questions.

Finally, with all the information gathered, they reunited at Shen Xiaoxiao's doorstep.

One of the police officers, with a solemn expression but a firm tone, said to Shen Xiaoxiao, "Comrade Shen, please rest assured, we will do our utmost to apprehend the criminal suspect and bring him to justice."

He then added, "If you discover any new clues or recall any important details, please be sure to go to the police station and inform us as soon as possible."

Another police officer stepped forward to explain the current situation: "We need to return to the police station to report the specific situation to our superiors. We will come back tomorrow to conduct a more in-depth investigation."

After saying that, the police officers nodded to Shen Zishan and then turned and left the Shen family, leaving Shen Xiaoxiao and her family to face their messy home.

After the police left, Shen Xiaoxiao's family immediately got busy tidying up their home, which was now unrecognizable.

As Shen Zishan and Ma Aning silently cleaned up the mess, they kept shaking their heads and sighing, "Sigh, who did this? It's just too much."

Dai Xingyun quickly walked to Shen Xiaoxiao's side and comforted her in a gentle voice, "Xiaoxiao, let me help you pack up."

Upon hearing this, Shen Xiaoxiao raised her head, glanced at Dai Xingyun, and nodded slightly.

In her eyes, which were originally filled with sorrow, a faint but determined light suddenly flashed: "Xingyun, no matter what, I must find this person! Otherwise, I won't be able to study in peace."

Dai Xingyun nodded vigorously, indicating his full support for Shen Xiaoxiao's decision: "Yes! Xiaoxiao, I will definitely do my best to help you! We will definitely be able to find the real culprit!"

With the help of Dai Xingyun and Xiahou Jie, everyone worked together to gradually restore this once warm but now dilapidated home.
