She quickly said, "The old lady is fine now. She'll be back to normal after a good night's sleep. I'll take Xiaoxiao back now so she can get some rest."

"Alright, let Shan go back with you then! He can't be of any help here anyway."

"Besides, Xiaoxiao just said that our mother is definitely alright, so she must be alright!" Shen Daniu looked at his mother's rosy complexion and believed Xiaoxiao's words without a doubt.

After they stepped out of Shen Daniu's house, Shen Zishan squatted down without saying a word and gently called out, "My dear daughter, come on Daddy's back! Look how tired you are, you can barely walk."

Upon hearing this, Shen Xiaoxiao happily threw herself onto her father's broad back and said coquettishly, "Daddy, it's been so long since you've carried me on your back!"

As Shen Zishan steadily carried his daughter on his back, he replied with a touch of emotion, "From now on, Daddy will have to carry my little princess on his back quite often."

"But I'm afraid it won't be long before Dad won't be able to carry you anymore, after all, Dad is getting older every day!"

Along the way, Shen Xiaoxiao lay on her father's back, feeling the warmth and reassurance.

But she remained worried about the risk of her witch doctor's practices being exposed.

After returning home, Shen Xiaoxiao went straight to her room and lay down, quickly falling asleep. She had a nightmare in which she dreamt that her witch doctor practices were discovered, and her family was criticized and denounced.

She sat up abruptly in bed, feeling a chill on her back and a fine layer of sweat on her forehead.

Turning to look out the window, the sky was still pitch black, clearly indicating that it would be some time before dawn.

She composed herself, got up, went to the main room, poured herself a glass of water, and drank it down in large gulps before feeling a little calmer.

However, as she turned to return to the bedside, she suddenly caught a glimpse of a dark figure standing quietly in the corner. This unexpected sight startled her so much that her heart raced and she almost screamed.

When she finally recognized the figure as Shen Xiaochuan, her heart, which had been pounding in her chest, finally settled down. She let out a long sigh of relief and scolded him playfully, "Brother, why aren't you sleeping in the middle of the night? What are you doing standing there scaring people like this!"

"And it's not even dawn yet, why are you awake so early?" Shen Xiaoxiao's tone was tinged with doubt.

Shen Xiaochuan did not answer his sister's question, but said directly, "Little sister, I saw you treating Grandma Shen San."

His gaze was fixed on Shen Xiaoxiao, as if he wanted to see through her eyes to understand her true thoughts.

Upon hearing this, Shen Xiaoxiao's face turned deathly pale, and her lips trembled slightly as she asked, "Brother... besides you, was there anyone else who saw it?"

Her voice was unconsciously lowered, as if she was afraid of being overheard by a third person.

Shen Xiaochuan quickly shook his head and comforted her, "Don't worry, little sister. I was the only one keeping watch at the window, while Dad and Mom were standing at the door, so no one else would have found out."

Hearing her brother's words, Shen Xiaoxiao finally felt relieved. She patted her chest and muttered to herself, "Thank goodness, that really scared me to death."

Seeing his younger sister's still-shaken expression, Shen Xiaochuan couldn't help but reach out and gently tap her forehead, laughing as he said, "Now you know fear? How could you be so bold back then?"

Chen Xiaoxiao cried out in pain, "Ouch! Brother, you hit too hard! Can you be gentler? It really hurts!"

Her brows furrowed, and her eyes instantly filled with tears as she looked pitifully at Shen Xiaochuan.

Shen Xiaochuan looked helpless and quickly reached out to gently rub the spot where she had just been hit, muttering, "You know it hurts now? Then you must be more careful next time and never act rashly like this again."

"No, this must never happen again, there will never be a next time! Do you understand?"
