"How could there be a child's voice?" Wenli frowned with suspicion, her eyes quickly and warily scanning her surroundings.

Standing to the side, Ma Aning was startled. She quickly reached out and tightly grasped her mother's hand, gently shaking her head.

At this moment, she cautiously cast her gaze toward her parents and younger brothers, observing the changes in their facial expressions.

Ma Aning knew very well that her family members must have heard the child's voice as well.

So she shook her head gently at everyone again, then stretched out her slender finger and slowly pointed to her stomach.

All that could be heard was a child's innocent voice murmuring to itself, "After my mother was tortured to death by them in my past life, my father also severed all ties with that despicable family for my sake."

"Those days were truly unbearable! It was only thanks to my maternal grandparents and two uncles secretly helping us that my father and I barely managed to avoid starving to death..." Shen Xiaoxiao muttered to herself.

Upon hearing this, Ma Aning's eyes reddened slightly, and tears welled up in them.

Then, as if she had suddenly remembered something important, her expression became increasingly tense.

"It's August 21, 1958! At this time, my eldest uncle had not yet been framed and forced to marry a woman who was pregnant with another man's child."

"No, I have to find a way to remind my uncle, but what day exactly did that happen? Let me think about it..."

Shen Xiaoxiao closed her eyes tightly, trying hard to search for relevant memory fragments deep in her mind.

Everyone around held their breath, straining their ears to listen carefully to every word she said, not daring to even breathe loudly, for fear of missing any crucial information.

After a while, Shen Xiaoxiao suddenly opened her eyes and excitedly shouted, "That's right! It was August 23rd! A good friend of my uncle's from the village invited him to his house for dinner."

"As a result, my uncle accidentally got completely drunk. Who would have thought that his good brother would take advantage of his drunken stupor and force him and his promiscuous sister into the same bed."

The next morning, the whole village was in an uproar…

"My uncle was forced to marry his sister, and he lived a life worse than death, even raising her children."

"Oh dear! What bad luck! I'm still in my mother's belly and I can't think of anything to do. What should I do? I need to think of a way to remind my uncle."

Shen Xiaoxiao deliberately shouted loudly in her heart.

At this moment, the eldest uncle suddenly seemed to wake up from a dream, looking at Ma Quan with a face full of horror, and anxiously asked, "Dad, what's the date today?"

"I always feel like I've forgotten something really important."

Ma Quan remained calm and composed, replying, "Today is August 21st."

As soon as he finished speaking, the previously noisy scene instantly fell silent.

Just then, Wenli, who had been silent all along, suddenly stood up and rudely interrupted the conversation between the father and son.

"Alright, forget about all that nonsense. The most important thing right now is to take care of your older sister's matter as soon as possible!"

Upon hearing this, Ma Quan quickly nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, yes, your mother is right. Our most urgent task is to resolve this thorny issue at hand."

After thinking for a moment, he suddenly had a flash of inspiration, turned to look at his daughter Ma Aning, and slowly said, "Daughter, your father has thought of an idea."

"Okay, we'll take you back to the fields later, but you don't have to do any work. Just lie down on the ground when the sun goes down."

"Then... we'll pretend to go check on you, and then we'll find you 'fainted' on the ground. That way, we'll have a perfect excuse to cause a scene, right?"

After hearing Ma Quan's words, everyone began to whisper among themselves. After a while, they all seemed to think that this method was feasible, so they all expressed their agreement.

“Grandpa and Grandma, you don’t need to go to so much trouble. My mom is lying on the ground. Dr. Shen will be back from his house call, and he will definitely be able to see her.”

The whole family looked up at each other in unison and decided to do as Shen Xiaoxiao suggested.

Immediately afterwards, the family sprang into action. They found an old, dilapidated cart and carefully helped Ma Aning onto it and seat her.

The brothers Ma Amu and Ma Alin took the initiative to push the cart, walking step by step towards the field.

The two pushed the older sister forward, with Wenli and Ma Quan following behind.

Ma Aning and his group hurried along the road and finally arrived at the field where they were weeding before the sun completely set.

After explaining some more details, the four of them hid to the side.

Ma Aning took a deep breath, then her body went limp, and she pretended to faint.

Before long, a tall, aged figure suddenly appeared on the quiet path.

It turned out to be a barefoot doctor returning from a house call.

He was walking quickly and hadn't noticed anything unusual by the roadside.

However, when he glanced casually at the roadside, he noticed a figure lying there. Startled, he quickly went over to check on him.

Upon closer inspection, the person's face was pale; it was none other than Ma Aning, the wife of Shen Laosan from the village.

The barefoot doctor gently patted her cheek and called out, "Shen Laosan's wife, wake up, wake up! Why did you faint by the roadside?"

Hearing the shouts, Ma Aning slowly woke up, opening her eyes with a confused and helpless look in them.

Looking at the familiar face before her, she said weakly, "Dr. Shen, how...how did you get here? Where...where am I?"

As Dr. Shen helped Ma Aning up, he patiently explained, "I had just finished my rounds and was on my way home when I saw you unconscious, so I rushed over to wake you up. Are you feeling unwell?"

Ma Aning nodded slightly, her eyes reddening as if she was holding back tears, and softly recounted her ordeal: "Well, this morning I washed all the family's clothes at home, and I'm so tired that my back aches."

I was hoping to get a little rest, since I'm pregnant.

My mother-in-law, however, refused to let me rest for even a moment, no matter what I said.

She said, "I'm just a worthless person, and these jobs should be done by me."

"And she also said..." Ma Aning's voice choked slightly as she spoke, her eyes reddening and tears welling up.
