Lin Xiao watched her drink water and breathed a sigh of relief. She then turned around and picked up a small mirror, about the size of her palm, from her equally simple desk. The back of the mirror was covered with cute stickers.

She enthusiastically handed the inexpensive little round plastic mirror to Jin Yue.

Jin Yue hesitated for a moment, an almost instinctive resistance making her not want to look at this unfamiliar face.

But for some inexplicable reason, she still took the mirror.

The mirror was a bit blurry, and there were a few fine scratches on the edges.

But it clearly shows what she looks like now.

Her skin was in decent condition, but lacked radiance, and there was a faint bluish tint under her eyes.

The most glaring thing is a light brown scar near the hairline on the temple, which has just scabbed over, looking like an ugly worm crawling there.

Jin Yue held her breath abruptly. How could this woman have such an ugly scar on her face?!

A memory flashed through her mind: when she had a fever, no one was in the dormitory, and she bumped into the edge of the bed!

She was reborn into this kind of person?

Living in such a doghouse-like place, using such a broken mirror that no one would even pick up if thrown on the roadside?

With a soft thud, the cheap little round plastic mirror slipped from her slightly trembling hand and fell onto the cheap floral-patterned bed sheet.

"oops!"

"Thank goodness you weren't hurt! Jin Yue, what's wrong? Are you still dizzy?"

Lin Xiao was startled, quickly bent down to pick up the mirror, carefully checked it, and breathed a sigh of relief.

The surging anger and humiliation in Jin Yue's chest almost burst out of her throat.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to suppress all her emotions.

Don't lose your composure.

She is Jin Yue, and even though she has a different body, she must never lose the pride in her bones!

"No...it's nothing, I'm just still a little weak."

She tugged at the corners of her mouth, trying to force a smile, but it looked worse than crying. Her voice was dry and hoarse, carrying a sense of timidity that even she herself didn't recognize.

The sound also irritated her greatly.

"That's good."

"By the way, do you still have enough money in your card? Yesterday we took you to the hospital emergency room for tests and got some glucose and stuff. We paid for it for you in advance. It cost 527.8 yuan in total."

"Just transfer it to me when it's convenient for you."

Lin Xiao was unaware of the turmoil within her and began packing her things on her own.

Her tone was natural, as if she were talking about something perfectly ordinary.

Should I pay for her out of pocket?

Jin Yue's heart sank suddenly.

She instinctively reached for the pillow, where a worn-out canvas wallet lay.

Inside, lying all alone, was a bank card with worn-out edges, a few loose ten-yuan and twenty-yuan bills, and a few steel bars.

All in all, it probably won't even amount to five hundred yuan.

In the three months prior, the price of a single handbag could have bought everything in this dorm room!

And now, I have to pay over 500 yuan in medical expenses upfront?!

The huge drop was like a bucket of ice water, chilling her to the bone.

She held the thin bank card in her hand, her fingertips icy cold.

"Okay...I understand."

Jin Yue's voice was so low it was almost inaudible, and an unprecedented panic was quietly growing.

She is no longer the Jin Yue who could spend money like water.

She was Jin Yue, a poor student whose bank account balance was probably less than 10,000 yuan and whose medical expenses even needed to be paid by her roommate.
