"Thank...thank you..."

Wenwan raised her tear-filled face, her trembling fingers grabbing the boy's sleeve as if grasping at a lifeline. Her voice was barely audible, and she swayed precariously, leaning against him.

What are you doing?!

Just as the boy was about to help her up, a sharp female voice interrupted.

Do you know her?

His girlfriend rushed over, her carefully groomed eyebrows furrowed in frustration.

"Stop messing around, didn't you see her hand is bleeding?"

The boy frowned, but still insisted on holding onto Wenwan's arm.

"What are you pretending to be, weak and unable to take care of yourself?"

"Are you leaving or not? If not, we're breaking up!!"

The girl grabbed her boyfriend's arm, her manicured nails almost digging into his skin.

"I...I'm sorry...I didn't..."

Wen Wan staggered from the sudden tug, her tears flowing even more freely. Her voice was choked with sobs, and she could barely utter a complete sentence. Her whole body trembled like a leaf in the wind.

"Damn it, what bad luck! I just went out for a meal and ran into a prankster vixen!"

The girl said those words and grabbed her boyfriend, heading towards the door.

The boy glanced back awkwardly, but ultimately left with his girlfriend.

A few snickers rang out in the restaurant.

Wenwan stood alone in the same spot, a new wave of tears washing away her already ruined makeup.

She looked around and met countless gazes, some mocking and some curious. Finally, she glanced in Xue Xunzhi's direction. This glance made her immediately lower her head in fear, and she quickly stood up and left.

Zi Xi also suddenly lowered her head and began to focus on stirring the claypot rice that had already cooled down.

"Stop looking at this, let's eat."

"Try this crispy rice crust; it's not completely soft yet."

Xue Xunzhi suddenly moved, his broad shoulders blocking Zi Xi's view.

Zi Xi looked up and met Xue Xunzhi's calm gaze.

His eyes, warm amber in the light, held no curiosity or judgment; he simply placed a piece of sausage on her plate quietly.

Zi Xi couldn't help but glance over there again, only to find that the female lead had already left.

"Everyone has the right to make their own choices."

Xue Xunzhi said softly, refilling Zixi's teacup.

Zi Xi paused, then suddenly realized that Xue Xunzhi didn't want her to be caught up in that awkward emotional situation.

"Thanks."

She took a sip of tea; the warm liquid soothed her tense nerves. Indeed, it's important to respect the fate of others.

"You're welcome."

Xue Xunzhi pushed up his glasses, his ear tips slightly red.

Zi Xi couldn't help but laugh, and her tense shoulders finally relaxed.

"Is claypot rice delicious?"

She reached out and poked Xue Xunzhi's hand.

"It's delicious, I really like it, especially the crispy rice crust."

Xue Xunzhi pointed to the crispy rice crust in the bowl.

"This is a complimentary bowl of mung bean soup for all our customers to help calm your nerves!"

"Young people these days, they act like they're going to die when they're in a relationship..."

The proprietress brought over two bowls of mung bean soup at just the right moment, and she sighed and complained.

"let's go."

Zi Xi put down her chopsticks; there was hardly anything left in her bowl.

Xue Xunzhi nodded and waved to indicate that she was paying the bill. She noticed that the guests at the next table were still whispering and glancing at the messy corner from time to time.

"I'm so sorry to have caused you this trouble."

The proprietress quickly calculated the bill and apologized in a low voice.

Xue Xunzhi took the change and smiled politely, while Zi Xi lowered her head to tidy her schoolbag.
