At six o'clock in the morning, Zi Xi got up and started washing up, and left home around seven o'clock.
Zi Xi pushed open the door without looking to the side, and almost tripped over the dark figure squatting at the entrance.
Jiang Yanli sat there hugging her knees, her school uniform jacket covered in morning dew, her hair disheveled like a rubbed dandelion.
The sound of the unit door being suddenly pushed open interrupted his thoughts.
He straightened up, and when he saw that familiar figure, his pupils contracted sharply, and there were obvious dark circles under his eyes.
"Hey, top student, you're finally up? Looks like you slept really well last night."
"Your deskmate came here to offer you warmth, fearing you might starve to death on your path to knowledge."
He dragged out his words, picked up a plastic bag from beside his feet. The bag contained soy milk and rice balls, and the packaging had the words "Special Offer for Top Students" written in a childish way with a marker, along with an ugly red heart drawn next to it.
Zi Xi stared at the crookedly drawn heart for two seconds, then glanced back and forth at the dark circles under Jiang Yanli's eyes, considering how to politely refuse the male lead's advances.
"What kind of look is that? Don't get me wrong!! I wrote the words in the beginning, but the staff insisted on drawing the rest!!"
Jiang Yanli immediately turned the bag over, her ear tips turning red.
It doesn't look like it was drawn by a shop assistant at all.
A morning breeze blew by, carrying the aroma of rice balls mixed with the lingering scent of night dew on his body.
Was it him who knocked on the door last night?
Did the male lead spend the whole night squatting by the door?
He truly lives up to his obsessive-compulsive nature; with that kind of perseverance, he should be able to succeed at anything!
Zi Xi suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
"you………"
But she was interrupted as soon as she opened her mouth.
"What do you mean, 'you'?"
"Twenty-three WeChat messages went unanswered, and seven missed calls went unanswered. The record is verifiable."
"Is this top student researching time machines or trying to decipher the origins of humankind?"
Jiang Yanli stood up, squinted, and took out her phone from her pocket, waving it around.
Zi Xi's eyelashes trembled slightly; she had been working a part-time job last night.
Let me guess.
"Could it be that the little pig genius has fallen asleep?"
"No way, no way, how can you still sleep in your senior year of high school?"
Jiang Yanli didn't get close, but her voice was low and slow.
Zi Xi nodded, deciding to just pretend she was asleep. Who knew what kind of trouble this person would cause after finding out about her part-time job?
She just wanted to focus on studying for the college entrance exam.
Jiang Yanli snorted coldly and deftly shoved the breakfast into her hands.
"Eat it while it's hot, let's hurry up or we'll be late."
"I came here this morning to run some errands. I was just curious what kind of important matter could make Chu, the top student, not even have time to reply to a single word?"
He took a half step back, his hands in his pockets, trying to cover up his misunderstanding.
The sound of a car horn came from downstairs.
Zi Xi walked behind, her voice soft: "I'm sorry, I didn't keep my promise to you. I was practicing the piano last night."
Saying it's about playing drums would definitely cause a lot of problems, but saying it's about practicing an instrument shouldn't cause too many issues.
After all, the original owner of this body had also stayed in the Chu family and had learned to play the electronic keyboard, so there was nothing wrong with that.
"You can play the piano? So... the piano is more important than me?"
Jiang Yanli's eyes lit up for a moment, but were quickly concealed by her deliberately suppressed lips, which were pressed into a straight line.
This straight shot made Zi Xi's ears burn, and at the same time, she felt a little incredulous.
So they just met yesterday?
We've known each other for years, is it appropriate to say something like that?
