More and more people gathered around, many of them there just to watch the spectacle.
Xie Wenyuan and his wife are not usually at home, so it's rare to see such a lively occasion here.
Xie Wanying put on a show, glancing forlornly at the doorway. "Uncles and aunts, I don't know what I did wrong, but what Shuying did was really unfair. Even though she's become our daughter-in-law, she can't ignore me, her sister-in-law. Today, I'm going to make her give me an explanation no matter what."
She was initially somewhat wary of Shu Ying, but considering that she was about to be sent back to the countryside by the organization, Xie Wanying had nothing to fear anymore.
Once this troublemaker leaves, she can still live a carefree life in the capital. It would be best to send her and Song Zhaodi back to the countryside together, so that she can be out of sight and out of mind.
The group just smiled and remained silent.
Although they lived a bit far from Shuying, there were only a few people in the compound. Everyone knew whose wife was whose and what her temperament was. There was no need for Xie Wanying to add fuel to the fire.
However, the person involved was persistent, and Xie Wanying became bolder when she saw that no one was stopping her. Without saying a word, she went to Shu Ying's yard, where Shu Ying was still arranging the refrigerator in the living room.
"Shuying, did you encourage Xie Zhiyan to change the locks on the house? You didn't even tell me about such a big thing. I don't think you care about me as your older sister at all. I didn't hold what you did in the past against you because of Mom and Dad, but lately you've gone too far!"
Hearing a commotion in the courtyard, Shu Ying looked up and saw the people inside. She sneered and stood up.
It seems some people are just asking for trouble. Before they even went to find her, Xie Wanying had already filed a complaint against her.
"What right do you have to change the locks on my parents' side of the house? Xie Zhiyan and I are both my parents' children. I can't go home now. You are a woman too, so why do you have to make things difficult for me? I ask myself honestly, ever since you entered our family, I have been tolerant of you in every way, but you have gone too far each time. Shuying, what grudge do I have against you?"
Xie Wanying glanced around. Everyone was outside, and any commotion here would attract the attention of most people. She wanted to make a big scene and let everyone see the ugly face hidden behind her pretty face.
Shu Ying's expression remained unchanged. She walked out of the living room unhurriedly, her gaze sweeping lightly across Xie Wanying's face, a single glance filled with unspeakable sarcasm.
"Xie Wanying, I originally thought you were smart, but I didn't expect you to be so eager to trap yourself. If I were you, at least at this moment I would be sitting quietly in my corner. I did change the lock, but I think it's only natural to be wary of someone like you."
After all, nothing in that house belonged to her, not even her parents.
Xie Wanying was stunned.
She originally thought that in front of so many people, Shu Ying would at least pretend to be friendly, but she didn't expect her to deliver such a blow right off the bat.
"Shuying, what do you mean by that? What have I ever done to offend you? You've been going against me at every turn since you came into our family. Are you suggesting that because of your sister-in-law, I should disown my own parents?"
Xie Mingzhu was originally unwilling to get involved in such matters, but she couldn't stand hearing anyone say a bad word about Shu Ying, especially Xie Wanying, who basically never told the truth. She grabbed a broom from the living room and was about to hit the other person.
"If you can't speak properly, then shut your stinking mouth. What do you mean by 'always going against you'? Even if there's no mirror at home, there must be urine, right? Before you go out, can't you take a good look at yourself? You think you're something special just because someone gives you a nice look? I've never seen such a shameless person in my life."
Xie Mingzhu's sharp eyes fell on Xie Wanying, and the two were now truly locked in a fierce confrontation.
Since learning the results of the paternity test, Xie Mingzhu has always harbored some resentment towards Xie Wanying. Although she knows that Xie Wanying couldn't really make decisions when they were both infants, she has truly enjoyed the kindness she has received over the years.
"Why don't you open your eyes and take a good look? What married daughter runs back to her parents' home every few days? If this brother wasn't married, it would be one thing, but he's already started his own family. Why don't you, as his sister-in-law, take care of your own family and run back to your parents' home every few days to beg for money?"
At least, Shu Ying and Xie Mingzhu's logic was sound, and those who came with them also thought it made sense.
"Wanying, it's true. Your parents aren't home often, but you come over all the time. Logically, we shouldn't interfere too much in your family's affairs, but how many things have you left at your parents' house? No wonder they lock it up. If something happens, you'll never be able to explain yourself, no matter how many mouths you have."
Xie Wanying originally came to seek justice, but for some reason the winds of change shifted in Shu Ying's favor, so she quickly began to explain.
“I already have a lot of stuff at home, and my in-laws live not far away. My parents aren’t home often, so does that mean I can’t come over for a visit when I miss them? Besides, what can’t I take from my parents’ things? I think it’s obvious that some people have ulterior motives, which is why they think others are as despicable as them.”
Shu Ying was amused by her remarks.
Xie Wanying has indeed made some progress recently, after all, she has become even more shameless. Not everyone can say such shameless things so frankly.
"Your parents' jobs are quite special, and their things are valuable and sensitive. If they lose important documents someday, can you take responsibility for that?"
Shu Ying's words struck Xie Wanying's heart like a hammer blow.
"Furthermore, your parents only have two children. Now that they have started their own families, they should take care of their own little families. You neither take care of your parents nor serve your in-laws. You just run back home all day long. I don't know what you want to do, but you know it perfectly well."
