Bright, white teeth, alluring and clean.

Xue Lingyu covered her eyes, not daring to look, and didn't even think about whether she had embroidered the clothes on Jiang He. She didn't dare to look at Jiang He directly afterward, for fear of seeing something she shouldn't have.

Ultimately, it was he who came to their house and disturbed their afternoon nap.

In an attempt to gain her forgiveness, he promised to embroider several different patterns of love knots for her. Jiang He then took the opportunity to push her luck, demanding that he embroider the knots under her very nose, claiming she was afraid he would cut corners or do a shoddy job.

Xue Lingyu is now highly regarded by Fang Xiulang. Fang Xiulang said yesterday that the young lady needs a few new outer garments and needs someone to embroider them. He asked if Xue Lingyu would be willing. Since following Fang Xiulang, he has been busy with work, all of which is for the young lady. This is enough to keep him very busy.

Xue Lingyu knew that if he refused with the excuse of having to embroider clothes for the young lady, Jiang He would definitely be angry, and there would be no way to appease her. So he swallowed his words.

He went back and told Fang Xiulang that he was not capable enough to take on this important task, and asked Fang Xiulang to find someone with good embroidery skills. After all, it wasn't the young lady who specifically asked him to embroider it, so it didn't matter if it wasn't him.

What he fears most right now is that Jiang He will ignore him.

Early in the morning, while Xin Yan was still deep in her dreams, Xue Lingyu got up early to prepare the things for making the love knot and ran over to Liushui Xiaozhu.

Jiang He had just finished washing up when Yuan Ge was serving her food. On the table was a bowl of light porridge, some appetizing radish, and freshly steamed dumplings, which looked absolutely delicious.

Xue Lingyu bumped into Yuange as soon as she arrived. Yuange had just placed the steaming spring rolls on the table when she turned around and saw Xue Lingyu looking at her with curious eyes.

Worried about being exposed, and unable to come up with a reason for the moment, she glanced at Jiang He who was sitting down.

Jiang He remained silent, but Xue Lingyu took the initiative to ask, her words full of surprise, and looked at Yuan Ge with a smile: "I've met this sister before."

He glanced at Jiang He, then belatedly said, "So you two know each other."

After Yuange finished serving the dishes, she stood at the table with her head down, looking just like a maid serving her master. Her status was obvious at a glance. Xue Lingyu was a little confused about the current situation and blinked her dark eyes.

Jiang He said, "You can go down now."

"Yes," Yuange curtsied.

Yuange closed the door behind her, leaving only Jiang He and Xue Lingyu. Xue Lingyu felt much more at ease. He pointed in the direction Yuange had just left, then pointed at Jiang He, and asked incredulously, "Is this sister your maid?"

Jiang He nodded: "You could say that."

After thinking it over, she added, "It was because my master thought I was capable that he assigned me a maid to take care of me."

Compared to her other identities, the identity of a maid is more believable and real. Besides, the head steward of the manor also has one or two servants by his side, so her identity wouldn't be considered a slip-up. Yuange can't always avoid Xue Lingyu.

Xue Lingyu leaned back slightly: "Then you must be a very important steward in the manor. Well, that makes sense, someone who can live in such a big house must be very capable."

Xue Lingyu suddenly remembered what Xin Yan had told him: Yuan Ge, the female manager of Liushui Xiaozhu, appeared serious and composed on the surface, but was actually a kind-hearted person. He secretly observed Jiang He a few times, and no matter how he looked at her, she didn't fit the description of serious and composed at all.

Could this person have two faces? Xue Lingyu seemed to have discovered some secret and immediately wanted to cover her mouth and laugh.

Jiang He tapped on the table, drawing Xue Lingyu's attention, and said with a smile, "What are you thinking about? Aren't you hungry?"

Xue Lingyu tilted her head and said, "Huh?"

"After you finish eating, hurry up and make the love knot. I want to see the finished product today." Jiang He pushed the porridge in front of her forward, gesturing for Xue Lingyu to sit down and eat together.

It would be a lie to say she wasn't hungry. Since Jiang He was willing to invite her to eat together, it meant she acknowledged him as a friend. Before Jiang He could impatiently urge her, Xue Lingyu sat down opposite her.

This was the first time Jiang He had breakfast with Xue Lingyu. Xue Lingyu's appetite was still so small, and his mouth was as small as a cherry. A small spoonful of porridge was enough to fill his little mouth. The radish made in the kitchen today was really appetizing. Xue Lingyu finished a bowl of porridge without realizing it. He covered his warm stomach and felt very satisfied. He even let out a soft burp.

Jiang He picked up a small steamed bun for Xue Lingyu, then rested her chin on her hand and looked at him, while she herself ate a spring roll and felt full.

She heard Xue Lingyu burp, and her smile widened.

After losing his memory, Xue Lingyu lost some of the dignified and proper demeanor of a young master from a noble family, but gained a touch of casualness, making him exceptionally adorable.

Xue Lingyu knew that Jiang He was blushing with embarrassment when she heard him burp, but there was nothing she could do. So she simply pretended that it wasn't him who burped, since Jiang He would just laugh at her at most.

After breakfast, Jiang He began to handle the business affairs. She originally had a lot of things to deal with, especially a mountain of account books. Now that Xue Lingyu was under her watchful eye, her heart was divided in two.

Xue Lingyu found herself a relatively comfortable table and chair, and began to weave a love knot with red thread, finally embroidering a mimosa flower on it.

His fingers were long and slender, like scallions, so white and tender they seemed to gleam. Perhaps he had failed at tying the knot, because he would occasionally furrow his brow, and his crimson lips would purse slightly, making his bright white teeth appear even more alluring.

Jiang He was disturbed and felt uneasy. She sighed deeply in her heart countless times, forcing herself to look at the account book.

In the end, Xue Lingyu was the first to give up. He slumped onto the table, holding the love knot he had just made, and muttered, "I'm done. I'm so hungry now. Can I eat something?"

He had been busy all morning and had only managed to make one, but he was hungry.

As the saying goes, food is the foundation of life; one must eat well to continue working.

Jiang He glanced out the window; it was almost noon, time for lunch.

Before long, Yuange's voice rang out from outside, saying that the kitchen had delivered lunch.

Xue Lingyu's eyes immediately lit up, but Jiang He remained unhurried, speaking slowly to the outside, "Is that so? But now I..."

As she spoke, she deliberately glanced at Xue Lingyu.

Xue Lingyu puffed out his cheeks and raised his eyebrows higher than a small mountain, as if he would burst into tears if he didn't get to eat. His eyes looked at Jiang He with a hint of pleading.

He was so hungry, he wanted to eat someone alive!

Jiang He cleared her throat a few times and said to the outside, "Bring it in."

Today's lunch was Eight Treasure Duck, Sweet Twice-Cooked Pork, Four Happiness Vegetarian Meatballs, and Seaweed and Egg Drop Soup, a total of three dishes and one soup. There were two bowls of rice, as Yuange had instructed the kitchen to serve an extra bowl beforehand.

Xue Lingyu finished almost the entire bowl of rice and couldn't help but exclaim, "This is the best meal I've had since I entered the manor."

Jiang He glanced at the dishes; they were nothing special. If she hadn't been lacking appetite lately, there would have been at least eight dishes and a soup, plus a bowl of sweet soup after the meal.

The chefs in the kitchen were all hired at great expense; the manor was quite particular about food.

Jiang He wanted to say that Xue Lingyu had eaten countless delicacies since entering the Jiang family mansion, and this was just an ordinary meal. However, he didn't remember any of them now.

Xue Lingyu ate too much at Jiang He's place twice today, and his stomach is now round and full. This time he was smarter and covered his mouth to prevent himself from burping, thus saving face.

"Does everyone in charge get to eat such good food?" Xue Lingyu asked Jiang He.

"No, it has to be someone like me who can manage things." Jiang He shook her head slightly, telling a lie with a straight face.

"How much do you earn per month?" Xue Lingyu asked curiously.

Jiang He spread out one hand, and Xue Lingyu's mouth dropped open when she saw it. There was so much!

Xue Lingyu wanted to ask how many years she had worked in the Jiang family, how old she was, and whether she had any brothers or sisters. Perhaps it was because his question was so obvious, but Jiang He saw through it at a glance.

Jiang He suddenly said, "There's a grain of rice on the corner of your mouth."

Upon hearing this, Xue Lingyu immediately stopped moving. Jiang He then leaned over, gently wiped the corner of his mouth with her fingertip, and then smiled, "All done."

Jiang He looked at her empty fingertips and pretended that there were real grains of rice on them, so that Xue Lingyu would not notice anything amiss.

Xue Lingyu couldn't help but touch the corner of her mouth, as if she could still feel Jiang He's warmth.

It would be one thing if they were talking, but they were standing so close that he didn't dare open his eyes.

Xue Lingyu stayed in Jiang He's room for another afternoon until he made two love knots. Only then did Jiang He let him go. However, before leaving, Jiang He returned one of the love knots to him, saying that the names were the same and she only needed one.

Xue Lingyu was a little angry. Why did he keep him working for so long if he only wanted one thing?

He remembered this incident and couldn't sleep at night, tossing and turning, silently keeping Jiang He in his heart.

Her name is Yuange, right? It doesn't suit her name at all, and all she does is bully him.

Xue Lingyu didn't forget to count on his fingers how many more love knots he still owed her. But what could he do? He had to grit his teeth and keep going in order to get her forgiveness.

He put the love knot under his pillow and fell asleep soon after.

Jiang He hung the love knot that Xue Lingyu had made for her around her waist. Xue Lingyu had an identical one in his hand, so they were a pair. She wondered when he would realize it.

He still secretly cursed her under the covers. Thinking of this, Jiang He couldn't help but laugh.

Xue Lingyu did not come the next day; instead, she went to work in the embroidery room.

He told Fang Xiulang that he was not in good condition recently and was afraid that he could not make the young lady's outer garment well. Fang Xiulang was very easy to talk to and said that she would ask other people. After all, the embroidery of the things that could be presented to the young lady had to be the best, and there could be no carelessness.

While working, Xue Lingyu listened to the gossip of the young embroiderers around her.

"I heard that Manager Zhou's son got married to a merchant in the city. He became the principal wife right away, and Manager Zhou is just waiting to retire in a few years so that he can enjoy a life of luxury with his son thanks to his master's grace."

A young embroiderer said enviously, "I wish I had the good fortune of Steward Zhou's son."

The embroiderer next to him laughed and said, "You can forget about marrying a merchant, but you can think about the stewards in the mansion. I heard that several of the female stewards around the masters are still unmarried."

The young embroiderer thought it was a good idea: "Marrying the manager is not bad. At least I can live a respectable life and won't have to worry about food and clothing."

The others burst into laughter: "Well, someone has to be interested in you first!"

Xue Lingyu was so focused on her work that she only caught a few of these words and they stuck in her head.

Several of the female stewards around the masters are not married. If he were to introduce a husband to one of them, wouldn't she be moved to tears?
