Chapter 232 I Shouldn't Have Lied to You
"Xiao Yuan?"
His voice trembled, and he became anxious and incredulous.
"Si Yuan! Si Yuan!"
Si Yuan still did not respond.
Song Yan could only call her name frantically. His previous obsession and madness were instantly replaced by panic, leaving him only helpless and flustered.
Jiang Wang's heart suddenly clenched, and he hurriedly dropped what he was holding, rushing over without thinking twice.
"Get out of my way!"
Song Yan suddenly grabbed him, his eyes bloodshot with madness. He held the person in his arms even tighter, not letting anyone get close.
"Nobody come any closer..."
"Song Yan!"
Jiang Wang interrupted him with utter fury, questioning him: "At this point, are you still going to continue hurting her?"
"She has depression, didn't you know? What have you driven her to now?!"
depression.
These three words were like a thunderclap, instantly shattering Song Yan's chaotic consciousness.
Of course he remembers.
Of course he...
In that instant of confusion, Jiang Wang rushed over and took Si Yuan from his arms.
Si Yuan's body was ice-cold, and she was already unconscious.
Jiang Wang's heart sank to the bottom. He felt as if all the strength to call her name had been drained. He hugged her and turned to rush downstairs.
Song Yan stood frozen in place, watching Jiang Wang's figure disappear at the top of the stairs, his whole body still trembling.
Everything happened so suddenly. The person who was just in his arms was now gone, cold, weak, and his fate unknown.
He never imagined things would turn out this way. He just wanted to keep Si Yuan, just wanted her to turn around and look at him. He didn't know things would get to this point.
The ambulance siren grew louder as it approached, and soon stopped downstairs.
Jiang Wang rushed out carrying Si Yuan, and medical staff immediately surrounded them, lifting Si Yuan onto a stretcher. Jiang Wang tried to get into the ambulance with her, but was stopped by the police.
"Sir, please cooperate; we need to understand the situation."
Jiang Wang, his eyes red, shoved the policeman's hand away: "Get out of the way! She needs someone right now!"
Just then, Ji Song came downstairs and said a few words to the police, indicating that he was willing to stay and cooperate with the investigation.
The police nodded and released Jiang Wang. Jiang Wang immediately jumped into the ambulance, holding Si Yuan's hand tightly, not daring to let go for a moment.
"Si Yuan, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have lied to you, I should have told you sooner..."
But Si Yuan couldn't hear anymore.
The lights in the hospital's emergency room came on, and Jiang Wang stood outside the door, leaning against the wall, his eyes fixed on the door.
He was covered in dust, his palms were sweaty, and all he could think about was Si Yuan lying in his arms.
Song Yan was brought here by the police. As soon as he arrived at the hospital, he struggled to rush into the emergency room, repeatedly shouting, "Xiao Yuan! I want to see Xiao Yuan!"
The police were holding him tightly, but he seemed to have gone mad, displaying astonishing strength.
Upon hearing the sound, Jiang Wang slowly turned around, his eyes as cold as ice.
He walked step by step to Song Yan, without saying a word, just looking at him with his eyes.
Song Yan froze instantly. Looking at the hatred in Jiang Wang's eyes, he shook his head, still unwilling to admit it, muttering, "I didn't mean to, I really didn't mean to..."
The police stepped forward, preparing to take Song Yan away.
Song Yan suddenly raised his head and said in a hoarse voice, "Si Xingzhou is still in my villa."
Jiang Wang abruptly stopped in his tracks.
Song Yan looked at him and continued, "I knew it was going to be today. That's why I didn't take Xiao Zhou with me. She's still in my villa in the suburbs. Go find her."
The police immediately took out their walkie-talkies and reported the news.
Song Yan looked at Jiang Wang, a bitter smile on his face: "I just wanted her to stay by my side. I never intended to hurt her, much less Xiao Zhou..."
"I'm the one who wronged her."
"But what about you?"
He laughed mockingly and said to Jiang Wang, "Are you innocent? Si Yuan has been by my side for so long, and she has never felt as desperate as she did when she found out you lied to her."
Song Yan's smile faded, and he slowly said, "As expected, it's still the person she loves most who stabs her the deepest!"
Jiang Wang ignored him and instead turned his gaze back to the door of the emergency room.
Without saying a word, he silently walked to the chair next to him and sat down.
The corridor was quiet, except for the sound of Song Yan's footsteps as he was taken away by the police and Jiang Wang's heavy breathing. Everything around them seemed to have become a vacuum, and then there was no sound at all.
After an unknown amount of time, the lights in the emergency room finally went out.
The doctor came out of the room, and Jiang Wang immediately stood up and walked quickly over: "Doctor, how is she?"
The doctor took off his mask, looked at Jiang Wang, and slowly said, "The patient suffered from respiratory alkali poisoning due to intense psychological stress."
Jiang Wang's heart jumped.
"If this situation continues for too long, it can cause serious damage to the brain nerves." The doctor paused, then continued, "We have done our best to save the patient, and he is not in immediate danger, but he has not yet woken up. We cannot be sure when he will wake up."
Jiang Wang swayed, and he barely managed to stand by holding onto the wall next to him.
His heart sank heavily, plummeting to the bottom of the abyss.
Seeing that his complexion was off, the doctor patted him on the shoulder and said, "Family, please don't be too anxious. The patient needs a quiet environment right now. We will monitor her condition closely and will notify you immediately of any news."
Jiang Wang nodded, his voice hoarse and dazed: "Thank you."
He slowly walked to the door of the ward and looked at Si Yuan lying inside through the glass window.
She lay quietly on the bed, pale-faced, wearing an oxygen mask, motionless.
It seems I've finally found a chance to get a peaceful sleep, and I'm sleeping very, very soundly.
Jiang Wang's heart suddenly clenched with pain. He pushed open the door, went in, gently sat on the edge of the bed, and took her hand.
Her hands were still cold. Jiang Wang placed her hands in his palm, trying to warm them with his own body heat, but it was to no avail.
It's always the same, and it doesn't help.
"Si Yuan, wake up."
"Xiao Zhou is still waiting for us; we can't abandon him."
"I know I was wrong before. I lied to you and failed to protect you."
"Please wake up. I'll do anything you ask. The three of us will never be apart again."
Jiang Wang repeated himself over and over, his voice growing softer and softer until finally only suppressed sobs remained.
Song Yan's words really hit him hard.
Because Si Yuan was indeed forced into this state by everyone, including himself.
The light from the corridor shone through the crack in the door, casting a long shadow on the floor.
Jiang Wang sat on the edge of the bed, holding Si Yuan's hand, in a long, silent, deathly stillness.
