Chapter 27 Si Yuan was taken away by that man
Song Yan pushed open the banquet hall door.
He got off the bus in such a hurry that he didn't bring an umbrella, and his clothes were still damp.
This was probably the first time that Song Yan, who was always polite and well-mannered, had lost control like this.
But inside the hall, only the desolation after the grand feast remained.
Hotel staff are cleaning up the mess.
Si Yuan is not here.
The cake that Si Yuan had personally cut was still sitting there quietly when someone picked it up and casually threw it into a trash bag.
She clearly didn't even have a chance to taste it.
My heart felt like it was being gently squeezed, and a dull ache crept up inside.
Song Yan's Adam's apple bobbed, and his feet involuntarily moved towards that direction.
The hotel manager bowed respectfully upon recognizing Song Yan.
Song Yan asked, "How is my sister now?"
He assumed that Si Yuan was still in the hotel and was being protected by the hotel.
The manager wore a professional smile, clearly having been instructed beforehand to remain silent: "Mr. Song, I'm really sorry, I'm not quite sure about this."
Song Yan's expression turned serious: "What do you mean? Where is she?"
The manager smiled apologetically: "We really don't know."
"Something happened at your hotel, and now they're missing. You didn't know?" Song Yan was anxious, and his gaze alone was enough to send chills down one's spine. "Don't tell me your hotel can't even keep an eye on one person!"
The manager's smile froze for a moment, but his tone remained smooth: "The scene was too chaotic at the time, and then a lot of reporters came and surrounded Ms. Song. Our security did its best. Moreover... when you and your family left just now, we really didn't leave anyone to look after Ms. Song. Later, as more and more reporters gathered, Ms. Song walked towards the back door on her own. We really didn't notice where she went."
"You walked there by yourself?"
Song Yan repeated these words several times, and the image of Si Yuan's cold gaze flashed through his mind.
Facing so many reporters all by herself, she was panicked and scared. Where could she hide?
Have you gone home?
He let go of the manager's arm, turned around, and walked out.
——
Jiang Wang asked the driver to turn up the temperature inside the car.
Si Yuan caught a cold and is now feverish and delirious, her consciousness is hazy.
She could feel who was in her arms.
It's a bit cold.
But this person's arms were warm.
Si Yuan unconsciously shrank back a little.
The man held a cotton swab, dipped it in ointment, and gently applied it to the bite mark on her wrist: "Don't move."
Si Yuan's eyelashes trembled, and she asked in a hoarse voice, "Are you Jiang Wang?"
A low chuckle came from above, tinged with mockery: "What, have you lost your memory? Then all that heroism I put on when I pushed through the crowd to rescue you was for nothing?"
Si Yuan slowly shook her head, her nose brushing against his clothes, catching that scent even more clearly.
"I haven't forgotten, I can smell your scent."
Jiang Wang always carried the sharp scent of tobacco, mixed with a cool, refreshing fragrance.
But whenever it's "sharp," it won't hurt itself again.
Jiang Wang tilted his head and looked at her: "What's that smell on me?"
She knew Jiang Wang was heading towards the highway again.
She didn't answer, but clutched his clothes tightly and said in a sticky voice, "I don't want to go home."
That wasn't her home at all; it was just a house they gave her.
Jiang Wang patted her back and said, "Okay, then we won't go back."
The light outside the window rushed past, becoming blurry spots of light.
Si Yuan closed her eyes, and all those troubling schemes and oppressive pains were cast aside.
She leaned against Jiang Wang's chest, thinking that no matter where she went, all she wanted now was to get a good night's sleep.
——
Song Yan spent the whole night looking for Si Yuan.
When he couldn't find Si Yuan's whereabouts, he went to Si Yuan's house and sat in his car all night.
That night, countless phone calls came in.
He didn't answer any of the calls from Lin Shuangyu, his parents, the company directors, or the reporters.
Si Yuan hasn't come back all night, where could she have gone?
She had been away from this city for five years, didn't know anyone, and no one would take her in for a whole night under such circumstances.
Until the secretary called.
Song Yan answered the call, wearily pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Mr. Song, the news you asked me to intercept was suppressed last night."
Song Yan stopped what he was doing, raised his eyes suspiciously, and asked, "Who?"
"The other party has deep influence; we can't find them."
Who is it?
Could it be the person who took Si Yuan away?
Is it the same man who gave Si Yuan the gift before?
So, Si Yuan followed him all night...
Song Yan slammed his fist on the steering wheel.
He rarely loses control. Even when Si Yuan disappeared all night, he just thought that the little girl must be hiding somewhere and would contact him when she was safe. She always trusted him the most.
But now, she's gone with someone else.
Song Yan couldn't quite describe how he felt.
Besides being angry at their lack of ambition, I also feel regret.
If he took her away last night, would that man have no chance?
What kind of people could suppress those news stories even faster than the Song family?
No wonder the hotel staff were tight-lipped.
Song Yan couldn't figure it out.
But he knew that this person was someone Jiang Wang knew.
——
Jiang Wang knelt by the bedside, holding a thermometer in his hand, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that Si Yuan's fever had subsided.
He pinched her earlobe; he always pinched her earlobe, like playing with a precious artifact, never letting go of it.
The phone suddenly rang.
Jiang Wang originally didn't intend to accept it.
But he saw that the caller was Song Yan.
"Hello?"
He responded casually, without letting go of Si Yuan's earlobe.
Where is the man who bought Xiaoyuan the other day?
Jiang Wang frowned, his tone gossipy: "That's not right. Your sister had such a big incident at the banquet last night, why didn't you go to your sister, but instead went to a man?"
"He took Xiaoyuan away."
Jiang Wang thought that Song Yan wasn't stupid; he could guess that.
"How did she get lost last night?"
Song Yan did not deny it: "It was my oversight."
On the other end of the phone, a shadow fell over Jiang Wang's lazy eyes.
"Then you can't blame anyone else."
Song Yan: "What do you mean by that? You're my friend!"
Jiang Wang said, word by word, "I can't help you, Song Yan. Si Yuan is a person, not your little master's toy. You can't just wind her up and make her go backward."
The phone was hung up as soon as the words were spoken.
Song Yan stared at the busy tone on his phone, momentarily stunned.
Why did Jiang Wangchong get so angry with him?
He hasn't even lost his temper yet, even though his sister is missing.
Perhaps it was because Jiang Wang's last words were spoken too loudly that Si Yuan was startled awake.
Before the coldness in Jiang Wang's eyes had faded, he met Si Yuan's eyes.
The little girl had big eyes and stared at him intently.
The coldness in his eyes instantly turned into doting affection; Jiang Wang seemed to have become a completely different person.
Why are you angry?
Jiang Wang tossed his phone aside and casually said, "I answered a call from an idiot."
Si Yuan smiled.
How long have I been asleep?
Jiang Wang glanced at his watch and said, "Soon, fourteen hours."
Si Yuan was somewhat surprised.
She hadn't slept this long in a long time, although a large part of the reason was her fever.
She looked out the window behind Jiang Wang; the sun was shining brightly, the sky was clear after the rain, and there was a rainbow.
