Chapter 18 A Mind Full of Useless Ideas
Jiang Wang glanced at Si Yuan's reddened eyes and knew perfectly well that she must be drunk.
Otherwise, given her usual lack of courage, she wouldn't dare to say she wanted to kiss him, let alone even say a few words to him. She would be very careful and hesitant. Where would she get such boldness?
Jiang Wang didn't mince words, his tone carrying his usual arrogance: "What? You can't even keep what I gave you?"
Si Yuan curled her fingers slightly but didn't reply.
She also felt useless, unable to even protect a necklace that someone else had given her.
Before she could think any further, Jiang Wang had already reached out and picked her up in his arms.
Si Yuan froze, like a startled rabbit, and frantically grabbed the edge of the shoe cabinet next to her.
Her voice was timid and wary: "W-what do you want to do?"
"sleep."
Jiang Wang spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world, his arm holding her was very steady, without swaying at all.
Si Yuan's face flushed instantly, even her ears turned bright red, and she gripped the shoe cabinet even tighter: "I... I only said I wanted to kiss you, I didn't say I wanted to..."
She didn't dare say what she was going to say, but her panic was written all over her face.
Jiang Wang was both amused and exasperated. Looking down at her tense expression, he said sarcastically, "What are you thinking about? I'll take you back to bed."
Si Yuan was stunned for a moment before realizing that she had misunderstood again.
So she quietly loosened her grip on the edge of the shoe cabinet, her ear tips still warm, and let Jiang Wang carry her to the bedroom.
Jiang Wang lowered his head and chuckled: "All you ever think about is that kind of lewd nonsense."
Si Yuan's voice was muffled: "It's all because of you... I wouldn't think this way if it were someone else."
She was telling the truth.
In high school, she knew nothing about sex, and all her knowledge in that area came from Jiang Wang. She didn't know how many people he had dated, so how did she know so much?
Desires are strong again...
So when I'm with him, I can't help but think about him a bit more.
Jiang Wang gently placed her on the bed and pulled the blanket over her.
Si Yuan curled up like a kitten, only her round eyes showing, staring at him intently with a hint of insecure dependence.
Jiang Wang paused for a moment, then suddenly took something out from behind him.
That... necklace.
Si Yuan's eyes lit up, and just as she was about to speak, she saw Jiang Wang raise his hand and throw it into the trash can, his movements swift and decisive.
"Several million..." Si Yuan muttered softly, feeling a little heartache.
“It’s been worn by someone else, it’s dirty.” Jiang Wang said indifferently, reaching out to ruffle her hair. “I’ll bring you a new one next time, ten times better than this one.”
Si Yuan's heart stirred. Thinking of Lin Shuangyu's smug expression when she wore the necklace, she suddenly felt that losing it wasn't such a big deal.
She said earnestly, "I'm sorry, I'll take better care of my things next time."
Jiang wanted to smoke a cigarette, but since this was the girl's bedroom, he refrained.
"Don't you know what kind of person you are? Don't force yourself to be like a hedgehog just to feel like you're doing right by others. Besides, one of us is enough to be arrogant."
Human growth is a painful process, like peeling away layers of skin and tendons.
Despite her clumsiness and timidity, Jiang Wang never imagined that she would actually be forced to become someone else.
Jiang Wang sat down on the chair by the bed, crossed his legs, and looked at her face. He changed the subject and asked, "Are you still afraid of the dark?"
Si Yuan nodded obediently.
She developed this problem in her senior year of high school, after someone locked her in the basement after school.
The next day, when Song Yan found her, she had already become afraid of the dark.
I didn't know Jiang Wang back then.
But after Jiang Wang heard Si Yuan casually recount these events, one could almost imagine how deep the psychological trauma she had suffered.
Jiang Wang replied with a hint of expected understanding, "Go to sleep, I'll watch over you."
Si Yuan pursed her lips, feeling as if her heart was enveloped in something warm and cozy.
She closed her eyes, and the anxiety that used to churn in her nights slowly dissipated. Before long, she fell asleep with steady breathing.
This was the first time she had fallen asleep peacefully without medication.
Jiang Wang sat beside her, watching her peaceful sleeping face, her long eyelashes drooping down and casting a light shadow under her eyes, and his heart melted completely.
He got up to leave.
But his gaze suddenly fell on the medicine bottle on the bedside table.
Several bottles were placed together, their labels all torn off.
He picked up one of the bottles, poured out a white pill, and held the pill in his hand, his eyes darkening.
Jiang Wang put the pills away, walked out of the bedroom, and took out his phone to send a message to his assistant.
"Come and pick up your medicine, get it checked out, and give me the results as soon as possible."
——
The next morning, Si Yuan woke up with a throbbing pain in her temples.
She sat up, wrapped in the blanket, her eyes glazed over.
After a while, the clips from last night slowly came back to me.
The incoherent ramblings on the phone, Jiang Wang suddenly appearing at the door, the unexpected kiss she gave him after opening the door in her bathrobe...
My cheeks turned bright red instantly, burning hot.
She raised her hand to cover her face, rubbed it, and then fell back down to bury her face in the pillow.
Only one thought remained in my mind: I must never drink too much again next time.
How embarrassing!
She threw off the covers and got up.
The sofa where Jiang Wang sat last night still had a faint scent of him.
The necklace in the trash can was gone, clearly indicating that it had been removed.
Thinking about her "heroic feat" last night, she wanted to crawl into a hole in the ground.
Jiang Wang did nothing, yet he provoked her first?
Si Yuan wanted to wash her face to calm down.
The doorbell suddenly rang urgently.
She wiped her hands and walked to the entrance. She saw who it was through the screen and froze.
Song Yan.
Why would he come?
Si Yuan went back to her bedroom to change her clothes before opening the door.
Song Yan saw that she was about to say something, but paused, her tone filled with worry.
Why is your face so red?
Si Yuan subconsciously touched her cheek, her fingertips feeling the heat, and hurriedly made an excuse: "Maybe... I caught a bit of a cold last night and didn't sleep well."
Song Yan didn't think much of it, a helpless expression on his face, his tone slightly reproachful: "I called you several times last night but you didn't answer, and I sent you messages asking if you got home but you didn't reply. Do you know how worried I was?"
Si Yuan felt nothing, even a little numb.
If you were really worried, why did you wait until this morning to come?
If something really happens, too many accidents can happen in one night.
She suppressed her thoughts, forced a faint smile, and stepped aside to let Song Yan into the room: "Brother, please sit down. Why did you suddenly come over today?"
As he spoke, he took out his phone and sent a message to his supervisor to ask for leave.
I really don't have the energy to go to work today.
Song Yan sat down on the sofa, glanced around the living room, and, finding nothing unusual, said, "Didn't we agree last night? I'd take you to buy jewelry today to make up for it."
