"Go on, go in and see your wife." The doctor patted his shoulder and said with a smile, "She's doing great too. She had a very smooth delivery and is in better spirits than most new mothers."

Lu Linchuan snapped out of his daze and rushed into the delivery room. He immediately saw Su Wantang lying on the delivery bed, her face pale but her eyes bright and clear.

"Wantang!" He rushed to the bedside, grabbed her hand, his palm was cold and trembling slightly.

Su Wantang looked at him and smiled weakly.

"Lu Linchuan, we're having a child." Her voice was soft, yet it carried a gentle yet firm strength.

Lu Linchuan looked at her, and then at the mess beneath her, and felt an indescribable pity and respect welling up inside him.

He lowered his head, buried his face in her hands, and his shoulders trembled slightly.

"Thank you..." His voice was low and hoarse, with a hint of sob in it.

Su Wantang gently squeezed his hand back, feeling the warmth of his palm, and a sense of peace settled in her heart.

Su Wantang was quickly transferred to a ward. The chicken soup that Wen Yuzhen had cooked was also delivered in time, and its aroma instantly dispelled the faint smell of disinfectant in the ward.

Lu Linchuan clumsily shook the headboard up, placed two pillows behind her, scooped up a spoonful of soup, blew on it repeatedly, and then brought it to her lips.

Wen Yuzhen held her two sleeping babies in her arms, sitting on a chair nearby, unable to get enough of them, her face crinkling into a wide smile. After a while, she suddenly remembered something and looked up at Lu Linchuan, asking, "Linchuan, have you decided on names for the babies? We need to hurry up and get their birth certificates."

Lu Linchuan paused for a moment as he fed the soup.

He looked at Su Wantang with a questioning look in his eyes.

Su Wantang drank the warm chicken soup and said softly, "You come and get it. You're my father."

Lu Linchuan put down his bowl and pondered for a moment. He looked out the window at the azure sky above the island, then at the two tiny lives in the swaddling clothes, his voice low and clear.

"The older brother's name is Lu Xianghai, and the younger sister's name is Lu Niantang."

Wen Yuzhen repeated to herself twice, "Xianghai, Niantang... Good, good names! One faces the sea, promising a bright future; the other remembers her wife, showing affection and loyalty!"

Su Wantang's heart skipped a beat.

Lu Niantang.

Nian Tang.

She looked up at Lu Linchuan, and the man was looking at her too, his dark eyes filled with a deep affection she could understand. This man, not good with words, had hidden all his romance and tenderness in his name.

As they were talking, Lu Niantang, the younger sister, seemed to hear her own name. She moved her little mouth and hummed softly twice.

"Oh dear, the baby is hungry." Wen Yuzhen, with her rich experience, immediately took the baby to Su Wantang's side. "Come on, Wantang, let's feed the baby."

Su Wantang's face flushed red instantly.

Although I was mentally prepared, I still felt very uncomfortable in front of my mother-in-law and Lu Linchuan.

Wen Yuzhen noticed her embarrassment and smiled as she pushed Lu Linchuan out, saying, "What are you doing standing here like that, you big man? Go and get some hot water to wipe Wan Tang's body."

Lu Linchuan also realized what was happening, his ears turning slightly red. He picked up the water bottle and awkwardly went out.

The first breastfeeding experience was more difficult than she had imagined. Su Wantang endured the discomfort and, with Wen Yuzhen's help, managed to get little Lu Niantang to latch on. A wonderful, slightly stinging warmth spread throughout her body. Looking at the tiny, soft life in her arms, eyes closed, sucking vigorously, her heart melted completely.

She finally became a mother.

The news that Su Wantang had given birth to twins, a boy and a girl, spread like a spring breeze throughout the entire family compound.

The ward became lively the next afternoon.

The women from the residential compound came in groups of three or five. They were all carrying things. Some brought eggs and brown sugar, some brought new but outgrown clothes for their children, and some, who were very skillful, brought handmade tiger-head shoes and little bibs.
