Hearing his words of submission, and remembering Wang Wu's urging and her own mission, Li Xiumei felt a surge of vanity. She remained silent for a long while, feigning nonchalance, before slowly saying, "You said it yourself. If that Su Wantang dares to come knocking again, I won't let her off!"
"I won't let her come to my door again!" Qin Tian immediately promised. "They're already staying at the guesthouse and will leave in a few days."
"And what about you? What if you give me a bad look again?" Li Xiumei sneered.
"It will never happen again. If I ever give you a bad attitude again, you can hit me or yell at me, and I will never fight back." Qin Tian's posture was extremely humble.
Li Xiumei then stood up and, as if it were her right, ordered, "Then hurry up and pack my things! Xiaofeng is still playing outside, go and keep an eye on him!"
"Okay, okay." Qin Tian nodded and bowed in response, then turned to pack his things, a cold glint flashing in the depths of his eyes.
Back at the institute's staff quarters, Li Xiumei was practically strutting around with pride.
She slumped onto the sofa, grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds, cracked them open, scattering shells all over the floor, and bossily ordered Qin Tian, who was sweeping, "I'm thirsty, get me a glass of water."
Qin Tian put down the broom, silently poured water, and handed it over.
Li Xiumei took a sip, then pushed the sunflower seeds in front of him, lazily complaining, "These sunflower seed shells are really hard; they're making my teeth hurt."
Qin Tian looked at her in silence.
Li Xiumei raised her chin defiantly: "What? You're not happy about peeling some sunflower seeds for me? You weren't like this when you begged me to come back!"
Qin Tian took a deep breath, suppressing the nausea surging in his heart. He picked up a melon seed, clumsily cracked it open with his fingernails, and put the kernel into the clean ashtray next to him.
One, two...
Looking at this man who was once aloof and arrogant, now serving her like a servant, Li Xiumei felt a morbid pleasure well up inside her. She smirked triumphantly, grabbed a melon seed, and tossed it into her mouth.
"My clothes are old, give me money to buy new ones," Li Xiumei said, eating sunflower seeds.
"Okay." Qin Tian smiled, "But I don't have much money left, only a hundred yuan."
As he spoke, Qin Tian took out a hundred yuan and handed it to Li Xiumei.
Li Xiumei took the money and counted it. "Okay. Then when you earn money in the future, you must hand over all your wages to me."
"Okay." Qin Tian forced himself to suppress his nausea. "You're my wife, who else would I give my job to if not you?"
"That's more like it!" Li Xiumei said smugly. "Oh, by the way, get that bankbook you gave Su Wantang back last time!"
Qin Tian's eyes were filled with disgust, and his face darkened.
"What's wrong? You're still not willing?" Li Xiumei frowned, her face immediately turning sour. "So much money, why should we give it to her! If you don't want to ask for it, I'll go ask for it myself!"
"No," Qin Tian forced a smile. "Fine, I'll go get it."
"But you have to give me some time, I'll try my best."
"That's more like it. Anyway, just get the money back for me before Su Wantang and his wife leave," Li Xiumei sneered.
"Okay." Qin Tian lowered his eyes, concealing the emotions in them.
Li Xiumei smiled smugly.
This man, this family, aren't they all firmly in her grasp?
That evening, Qin Tian personally took Xiao Feng to take a bath.
While taking a shower, Qin Tian secretly plucked a lock of Xiao Feng's hair and slipped it into his pocket when Xiao Feng wasn't looking.
With this sample, we can get the DNA test done tomorrow.
It's late at night.
Qin Tian lay on the bed, and after Li Xiumei beside him fell asleep, he quietly got up and left the guesthouse.
Qin Tian quietly arrived at the guesthouse where Su Wantang and Lu Linchuan were staying. He knocked on the door and asked, "Xiaotang, Linchuan, are you asleep?"
At this moment, Lu Linchuan got up and opened the door. "Uncle, we haven't gone to sleep yet."
