"Wantang, you mean..." Qin Tian's voice was a little hoarse.
"I didn't mean anything by it." Su Wantang knew when to stop, she knew some things were better left unsaid. "I just felt that if we left, we'd really be leaving you here all alone. I was worried about that."
The words "I'm worried" warmed Qin Tian's heart, and his eyes even welled up with tears.
His niece has suffered so much and endured so many losses, yet she still thinks of him in the end.
"Good boy, good boy." Qin Tian nodded repeatedly. "Uncle understands. You...you can stay here for now, Uncle will handle this matter."
Just then, with a "bang," the door to Li Xiumei's room was opened again.
Carrying a neatly packed bundle and holding Xiao Feng's hand, she walked out with a resolute expression. She didn't look at Qin Tian or Su Wantang, and went straight to the front gate.
As she reached the door, she seemed to suddenly remember something, turned around abruptly, and gave Qin Tian a cold laugh.
"Qin Tian, you'll regret this. You'll definitely regret it!"
After saying that, she opened the door, walked out without looking back, and slammed the door shut. The loud slam of the door announced that this family was completely broken up.
The loud bang of Li Xiumei slamming the door and leaving echoed in the room for a long time before dissipating.
Qin Tian seemed to have all his strength drained away, slumping into the chair with his hands covering his head, elbows resting on his knees, his whole body hunched over.
Su Wantang and Lu Linchuan exchanged a glance, but neither of them spoke; they simply stayed quietly by his side.
They knew that what Qin Tian needed right now wasn't comfort, but time. He needed to figure things out and process everything on his own.
After a long while, Qin Tian slowly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, his voice hoarse: "I'm sorry to have made you laugh."
“Uncle, we are family.” Lu Linchuan said in a deep voice, his words simple yet full of strength.
Su Wantang walked over, poured Qin Tian a glass of warm water, and placed it in his cold hand: "Uncle, have some water. What's done is done, and now the most important thing is your health."
Qin Tian held the water glass, the warmth of the glass passing through his palm calming his chaotic thoughts slightly.
He took a sip of water to moisten his parched throat before saying with a wry smile, "Throughout my life, I've always been conscientious in my work, and I've lived up to the expectations of the country and the organization. I never imagined... I would be so foolish when it comes to judging people."
"Wantang," Qin Tian raised his head, his eyes now clearer and sharper, "you weren't just saying that casually, were you? Did you... discover something?"
Su Wantang knew that her uncle was a smart man who understood things immediately.
She nodded, her expression turning serious: "Uncle, I do have some suspicions. But they are all just my guesses, I have no evidence."
As she spoke, she quickly organized her thoughts in her mind.
Since her rebirth and the acquisition of the spiritual spring space, her five senses have become far more acute than those of ordinary people. She can perceive many subtle things.
"Do you remember the day we first arrived?" Su Wantang asked.
Qin Tian tried hard to recall.
“That day, Lin Chuan brought back some meat and vegetables from the army, and I cooked dinner. During dinner, Xiao Feng snatched the braised pork from my bowl,” Su Wantang recounted slowly. “At that time, I noticed that my aunt’s reaction was very strange.”
